Stop Bombing Syria: a Letter from Mark Rylance, Brian Eno, John Pilger et al.

via Counter Punch News Service

We are gravely concerned at the possibility of a parliamentary decision to bomb Syria. David Cameron is planning such a vote in the House of Commons in the near future. He is doing so in the face of much evidence that such an action would exacerbate the situation it is supposed to solve. Already we have seen the killing of civilians and the exacerbation of a refugee crisis which is largely the product of wars in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan.

The US and its allies have dropped 20,000 bombs on Iraq and Syria in the past year, with little effect. We fear that this latest extension of war will only worsen the threat of terrorism, as have the previous wars involving the British government. Cameron is cynically using the refugee crisis to urge more war. He should not be allowed to.

[…] appeared in OffGuardian, an Assadist / Russian grey propaganda […]

NOTE FROM ADMIN: Apparently the Stalinist stalker site that is compiling a list of alleged ‘Assadists’ (doesn’t say why, possibly for future liquidation) has a link to us on its entry for Diane Abbott, wherein we are unflatteringly described as ‘Assadist/ Russian grey propaganda’. Since this is completely false in all particulars, in the interests of accuracy we left this comment with them, which they may or may not publish:

Off-Guardian.org is not a Russian site. The site isn’t run from Russia, is not funded by Russia and none of its editors or admins are Russian. Nor do we have any affiliations or connections with the Russian government or any of its representatives.

Please correct this assertion in the interests of accuracy.

We aren’t “Assadists” or propagandists either, but since those allegations are more subjective we have to let them slide.

Good for them. The Syria policy of the UK govt has never cared about the Syrian people it’s all been about regime change.

Well done to them, not sure if Cameron has enough savvy to pay any heed, he’s not the sharpest knife in the box.
