In reply to <a href="https://off-guardian.org/2015/11/18/the-wests-asymmetric-terrorism/#comment-60712">David Pear</a>.

Yes I'm afraid we've all noticed it, I'm actually staying away from the Guardian at the moment - my fragile heart can't take the bilious hatred that's been pouring out of CIF these days.

I work in a "London terror hotspot" and today we've been presented with guidelines on what to do in case of attack I'll copy and post for your amusement below

<

blockquote>The Government has published advice on what people should do in the event of a "firearms or weapons attack" in a public place.

According to the National Counter Terrorism Security Office, victims of a Paris-style shooting should attempt to run away from the scene first, as long as doing so would not expose them to greater danger.

They should also insist others leave with them, and make sure belongings are left behind.

If running isn't a possibility, the next option should be to hide from attackers and find cover from gunfire – instead of lying down in full view.

However, the NaCTSO guidance warns bullets can go through brick, glass, wood and metal, meaning it is safest to hide behind heavily reinforced walls.

Victims are also told to be quiet, silence their phone, be aware of their exits and, if they are in an enclosed space, lock or barricade the door before moving away from it.

The refreshed guidelines follow the assault on the Bataclan concert hall in the French capital last Friday, which killed 89 music fans and left 100 people injured.

As the sound of automatic gunfire rang out in the venue, "panic and horror" broke out amongst concertgoers – with footage showing a pregnant woman hanging from a window ledge as she tried to shield herself from the attackers.

Two Britons who survived the massacre described hiding in the cellar of the Bataclan to escape the terrorists.

For three hours, Christine Tudhope and Mariesha Payne had no choice but to listen to the "bullets, grenades, explosions and screams" happening on the concert hall floor above them.

NaCTSO has also called on businesses to train their staff for such a scenario – and develop a "dynamic lockdown" plan for frustrating, delaying or preventing attackers.

The police unit suggests improving communication between workers, using CCTV more efficiently, and performing regular terror drills could greatly reduce the number of potential casualties in the event of an attack.
