Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that when someone makes a comment or statement in the forms of, “The Americans did such and such” or’ the Russians did so and so” and” this group or that nation or that religion did this” or” that, nominal group mentality did blah- blah- blah”….The intent, the implication, and the acceptance by the reader is that the commentator is not implicating the citizenry or the rank and file of the said nations or religions; but is drawing attention to the State executive and the exponents of the nominal groupings? And is it just me or does anyone else notice that this acceptance always seems to be excluded and ultimately vetoed in the case of one group identity. Powerful documentary – Bill Moyers spoke truth to power in a way that it is hard to imagine any cosseted obsequious contemporary journalist doing – they speak half-truths FOR power. So it is with the greatest respect that I say, that in the light of subsequent information, as scathing as this documentary was/is – it represents a limited hangout of the Iran Contra affair. Moyers touched on the drugs (“Who are the Boys,” “The CIA”) but North’s diaries didn’t get published until ’90. Amongst numerous other references, North wrote on January 14, 1985 that “$14 million to finance (the Contras) came from drugs.” There’s the whole story of Mena, Arkansas; Barry Seal; CIA; DEA that the Kerry Sub-committee did its best to pin on North and the ‘Enterprise’ whilst covering up any involvement by top level Government employees. I don’t want to bore on – but here is the (archived) article by Alfonso Chardy that Brooks references in the clip below. It talks of a National Crisis Plan – which is better known and was enacted as REX 84. I can’t be sure how far they were planning to go back then, but they certainly laid the extralegal architecture for a militarized police state and were in an advanced state of readiness to implement it. All they needed was the declaration of a National Emergency to suspend the Constitution. In the light of 9/11, I don’t find it too hard to believe that underlying Iran Contra was an aborted coup d’etat by Bush Sr.

This is a testimonial of the pathway right up to our present world situation. If anything , the Dark State is even more insidious due to the advances in eavesdropping via computer and communication technology. Along with a fragmented Congress and oligarch’s unlimited money ,if anything our country is not even a real democracy anymore.
