In reply to rtj1211. If the NYT had no large readership of regular people it wouldn't matter much. Its "unofficial official" voice (along with WaPo) mean that it would continue to have money pumped into it and it would continue to be cited by politicians, pundits, etc. It might just have to be bought by another billionaire like Jeff Bezos who could then use it to further his own ends.

And this morn ing’s Guardian has a piece about the release of the classified JFK assassination files dissing conspiracy theories and states:
‘All of the most credible evidence continues to point to Lee Harvey Oswald as the lone gunman in Dallas.’
Mindboggling!

The power at NYT is ALL with the people who read it.
NYT is belly up in six months if it is boycotted…..

Its one of the great scandals of our time – uncritical acceptance of propaganda employed to rationalise the enduring myth of the USA as a force for international good.
The western media, including our very own Guardian are in their own way guilty of perpetuating endless conflicts because of their abject failure to critically unpick the many lies that have been told as a precursor to the latest bloodbath – and even on the rare occasion politicians are found out it still doesn’t stop them from being offered a platform to dump their latest crock of shit on a brow beaten public.
Take 9/11 for example – Guardian mods simply will not tolerate any deviation from the neocons version of events, no matter how utterly implausible and anti-scientific this account may be – but it sounds like the NYT might be even worse? I must admit – I didn’t think that was possible.

The majority of the evil in the world is perpetrated by a minuscule percentage of the population (the 1%, their $ycophant$ and their $oldier$)
The adrenalin junkies in the Drainstream Media get high on violence because they know it sells papers and airtime.
Hollywood, the publishing industry (crime and horror novels) and video game designers are addicted to the same sick fantasies.
We have been given enough rope and slowly, but irrevocably, we are strangling ourselves.
