Unfortunately this is more of a propaganda movie than a fair and balanced survey of what has actually happened. Conveniently, Peter didn’t interview anybody from the “other side”, so he didn’t really tell how the phony referendum was conducted, how the crooks like Motorola were sponsored by Russia, how they were taking away people’s cars and appartments at gunpoint for their personal use, how many people who disagreed with them went missing, how the GRAD’s artillery systems were placed in residential areas so the Ukrainian military responded back hitting those areas, and on on, and on. Of course there are plenty of wrongdoings you can charge the Ukrainian side with, but there’s so much more to the story than painting Ukraine as a bunch on Nazi’s sponsored by oligarchs from the West. Anybody with a brain would see through that BS. And by the way, has Peter cited any references to how many people in Donetsk actually wanted the separation? Of course not. He just assumes that “people of Donetsk” made a choice, but in truth nobody had a choice, and if you had asked people around, it was about 50/50 wanting separation from Ukraine. The referendum was of course a sham controlled by the bandits in charge. The analogy to Washington and separation from England is of course ridiculous, but that aside, please tell me Peter, how do you think Russia would react if Kaliningrad wanted to conduct a referendum to join Germany, Kuril island to join Japan, Khabarovks to join China, or what if Yakutia or Chechnya want to become independent. Do you think Russia would just say Go Ahead? Hah. I could go on, but this is just a comment to say the movie is lopsided and I would NOT recommend it to anybody who wants to get a fair picture of what happened. And I’m myself also an American with roots in Donetsk.

I think you yourself represent the propaganda realm, only the Ukrainian disguised as an ‘American with roots in Donetsk’. One way or another, our film was not sponsored by the state or the oligarchs, and nobody in a documentary is ‘obliged’ to go on the ‘other side’. One doesn’t have to sit on the fence to see the difference between good and evil.

Brilliant work by Peter Von Berg & team, thank you off-G. 🙂
It’s great to get a feel for the surprising realities on the ground. No bank money, eh? Interesting.
In similar vein, I like this 18 minute video of a cheerful young chap riding his little pop-pop motorbike through Iran.
He is now a huge fan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2LEgowbzSc&t=135s

Many thanks to Peter Von Berg for this presentation. Hopefully provides to many Americans and Canadians a look at the Donbass/Donesk region and why they fight for what is theirs.

We have Victoria Nuland and Hillary Clinton to thank for this Ukrainian coup where they supported Nazi forces. Joe Biden’s son Hunter has benefited with an important energy job in the Ukraine.

You are right of course, but after such a beautiful, uplifting film, I’d rather forget such people, even if only momentarily.
