The WSWS fret continuously over the gross capitalistic exploitation of the international working class. ‘International’ because that is one of the primary distinctions between Trotskyism on the one hand and Stalinism on the other.

The WSWS’s apparent deviation from the Off-Guardian view of COVID-19, which latter sees it as an insignificant bump on the epidemiological landscape that has been hooched up by a rapacious elite anxious to find cover for the failure of state Capitalism (v1.0) and the installation of the digital panopticon as an essential tool in the great reversioning to the globalized v2.0, is based on the reported characteristic of the disease–that it endangers with lasting ill-health and/or death ‘only’ the elderly and those with ‘co-morbidities’–set against the WSWS insistence that decades of deprivation and impoverishment has rendered the working class rife with co-morbidities across the entire age spectrum, particularly in the ‘developing’ world, such that even a small bias in the CFR against the working class will result in a far greater infliction of misery and dislocation there than elsewhere on the social tree. By the same token, the certain COVID-19 economic catastrophe–regardless of whether it was engendered by the disease itself or its misuse to perpetuate the supremacy of the already privileged–has already fallen massively disproportionately on the working class.

In other words, both of the religions* that you have chosen to juxtapose into a false opposition see the virus as an essentially irrelevant vector for the introduction of political homogeneity, with the Off-Guardian seeking to preserve and extend the chaos of anarchic libertarianism and the WSWS seeking to impose, with more success than the USSR pilot project had, the inverse heirarchical order of soviet-based socialism.

But you understood that, right? In which case I can only suggest that you look for your missing marbles under your Eggs Benedict.

* One of the hallmarks of an organised religion is a creed, a defining statement of its characterizing tenets. By that token almost all political parties and many political movements are akin to religions. ‘Science’ is often categorized as a religion and it does indeed have strongly entrenched orthodoxies but over time it has increasingly aligned itself with repeatable (and, latterly, falsifiable) propositions. In that sense, it is more akin to a virus. That is why the Off-Guardian keeps on lining up outlier ‘experts’ who deny the orthodoxies of virology, epidemiology, etc., that ‘inform’ the sociopolitical response, while the WSWS saves its energy by jumping directly to the socio-economic consequences of the {“virus or sociopolitical narrative, hooch-up or rational, whatever you choose, who cares?”} sociopolitical response.

So do ‘tweets’. Donald Trump’s knees jerk to them. Though, admittedly, he does have to join two or three together from time to time when he aspires to actual ‘thoughts’.

I had a brief look at Unz Review yesterday, read one essay, glanced at the comments, but before then hadn’t been there for maybe 4 months.
‘but the many lost, confused, bereft, and – in the absence of relief or reason – resentful and blameful’.
Thank you for this reminder, and that despite our ‘differences’ at the end of the day, we are all human beings.
The ‘System’ and the 0.01% divide us in so many ways. And we (including myself) allow it, or go along with it in some way or the other.
Them. Us. The Other.
