To the Police State, We’re All Criminals Until We Prove Otherwise

John W. Whitehead & Nisha Whitehead

“In a closed society where everybody’s guilty, the only crime is getting caught.”Hunter S. Thompson

The burden of proof has been reversed. No longer are we presumed innocent. Now we’re presumed guilty unless we can prove our innocence beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Rarely, are we even given the opportunity to do so.

Although the Constitution requires the government to provide solid proof of criminal activity before it can deprive a citizen of life or liberty, the government has turned that fundamental assurance of due process on its head.

Each and every one of us is now seen as a potential suspect, terrorist and lawbreaker in the eyes of the government.

Consider all the ways in which “we the people” are now treated as criminals, found guilty of violating the police state’s abundance of laws, and preemptively stripped of basic due process rights.

Red flag gun confiscation laws: Gun control legislation, especially in the form of red flag gun laws, allow the police to remove guns from people “suspected” of being threats. These laws, growing in popularity as a legislative means by which to seize guns from individuals viewed as a danger to themselves or others, will put a target on the back of every American whether or not they own a weapon.

Disinformation eradication campaigns. In recent years, the government has used the phrase “domestic terrorist” interchangeably with “anti-government,” “extremist” and “terrorist” to describe anyone who might fall somewhere on a very broad spectrum of viewpoints that could be considered “dangerous.” The ramifications are so far-reaching as to render almost every American an extremist in word, deed, thought or by association.

In the government’s latest assault on those who criticize the government—whether that criticism manifests itself in word, deed or thought—the Biden Administration has likened those who share “false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information” to terrorists.

This latest government salvo against consumers and spreaders of “mis- dis- and mal-information” widens the net to potentially include anyone who is exposed to ideas that run counter to the official government narrative.

In other words, if you dare to subscribe to any views that are contrary to the government’s, you may well be suspected of being a domestic terrorist and treated accordingly.

In this way, government and corporate censors claiming to protect us from dangerous, disinformation campaigns are, in fact, laying the groundwork now to preempt any “dangerous” ideas that might challenge the power elite’s stranglehold over our lives.

Government watch lists. The FBI, CIA, NSA and other government agencies have increasingly invested in corporate surveillance technologies that can mine constitutionally protected speech on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in order to identify potential extremists and predict who might engage in future acts of anti-government behavior.

Where many Americans go wrong is in naively assuming that you have to be doing something illegal or harmful in order to be flagged and targeted for some form of intervention or detention.

In fact, all you need to do these days to end up on a government watch list or be subjected to heightened scrutiny is use certain trigger words (like cloud, pork and pirates), surf the internet, communicate using a cell phone, limp or stutter, drive a car, stay at a hotel, attend a political rally, express yourself on social media, appear mentally ill, serve in the military, disagree with a law enforcement official, call in sick to work, purchase materials at a hardware store, take flying or boating lessons, appear suspicious, appear confused or nervous, fidget or whistle or smell bad, be seen in public waving a toy gun or anything remotely resembling a gun (such as a water nozzle or a remote control or a walking cane), stare at a police officer, question government authority, or appear to be pro-gun or pro-freedom.

Thought crimes. For years now, the government has used all of the weapons in its vast arsenal—surveillance, threat assessments, fusion centers, pre-crime programs, hate crime laws, militarized police, lockdowns, martial law, etc.—to target potential enemies of the state based on their ideologies, behaviors, affiliations and other characteristics that might be deemed suspicious or dangerous.

It’s not just what you say or do that is being monitored, but how you think that is being tracked and targeted.

There’s a whole spectrum of behaviors ranging from thought crimes and hate speech to whistleblowing that qualifies for persecution (and prosecution) by the Deep State. It’s a slippery slope from censoring so-called illegitimate ideas to silencing truth.

Security checkpoints and fusion centers. By treating an entire populace as suspect, the government has justified wide-ranging security checkpoints that subject travelers to scans, searches, pat downs and other indignities by the TSA and VIPR raids on so-called “soft” targets like shopping malls and bus depots by black-clad, Darth Vader look-alikes.

Fusion centers, which represent the combined surveillance efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement, track the citizenry’s movements, record their conversations, and catalogue their transactions.

Surveillance, precrime programs. Facial recognition software aims to create a society in which every individual who steps out into public is tracked and recorded as they go about their daily business. Coupled with surveillance cameras that blanket the country, facial recognition technology allows the government and its corporate partners to warrantlessly identify and track someone’s movements in real-time, whether or not they have committed a crime.

Rapid advances in behavioral surveillance are not only making it possible for individuals to be monitored and tracked based on their patterns of movement or behavior, including gait recognition (the way one walks), but have given rise to whole industries that revolve around predicting one’s behavior based on data and surveillance patterns and are also shaping the behaviors of whole populations.

With the increase in precrime programs, threat assessments, AI algorithms and surveillance programs such as SpotShotter, which attempt to calculate where illegal activity might occur by triangulating sounds and images, the burden of proof has been turned on its head by a surveillance state that renders us all suspects and overcriminalization which renders us all lawbreakers.

Mail surveillance. Just about every branch of the government—from the Postal Service to the Treasury Department and every agency in between—now has its own surveillance sector, authorized to spy on the American people.

For instance, the U.S. Postal Service, which has been photographing the exterior of every piece of paper mail for the past 20 years, is also spying on Americans’ texts, emails and social media posts. Headed up by the Postal Service’s law enforcement division, the Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP) is reportedly using facial recognition technology, combined with fake online identities, to ferret out potential troublemakers with “inflammatory” posts.

The agency claims the online surveillance, which falls outside its conventional job scope of processing and delivering paper mail, is necessary to help postal workers avoid “potentially volatile situations.”

Threat assessments and AI algorithms. The government has a growing list—shared with fusion centers and law enforcement agencies—of ideologies, behaviors, affiliations and other characteristics that could flag someone as suspicious and result in their being labeled potential enemies of the state. Before long, every household in America will be flagged as a threat and assigned a threat score.

It’s just a matter of time before you find yourself wrongly accused, investigated and confronted by police based on a data-driven algorithm or risk assessment culled together by a computer program run by artificial intelligence.

No-knock raids. No-knock, no-announce SWAT team raids are what passes for court-sanctioned policing in America today, and it could happen to any one of us. Nationwide, SWAT teams routinely invade homes, break down doors, kill family pets (they always shoot the dogs first), damage furnishings, terrorize families, and wound or kill those unlucky enough to be present during a raid.

No longer reserved exclusively for deadly situations, SWAT teams are now increasingly being deployed for relatively routine police matters such as serving a search warrant, with some SWAT teams being sent out as much as five times a day. Police carry out tens of thousands of no-knock raids every year nationwide.

Militarized police. America is overrun with militarized cops—vigilantes with a badge—who have almost absolute discretion to decide who is a threat, what constitutes resistance, and how harshly they can deal with the citizens they were appointed to “serve and protect.”

It doesn’t matter where you live—big city or small town—it’s the same scenario being played out over and over again in which government agents, trained to act as judge, jury and executioner in their interactions with the public, ride roughshod over the rights of the citizenry.

This is how we have gone from a nation of laws—where the least among us had just as much right to be treated with dignity and respect as the next person (in principle, at least)—to a nation of law enforcers (revenue collectors with weapons) who treat “we the people” like suspects and criminals.

Constitution-free zones. Merely living within 100 miles inland of the border around the United States is now enough to make you a suspect, paving the way for Border Patrol agents to search people’s homes, intimately probe their bodies, and rifle through their belongings, all without a warrant. Nearly 66% of Americans (2/3 of the U.S. population, 197.4 million people) now live within that 100-mile-deep, Constitution-free zone.

Asset forfeiture schemes. Americans no longer have a right to private property. If government agents can invade your home, break down your doors, kill your dog, damage your furnishings and terrorize your family, your property is no longer private and secure—it belongs to the government.

Hard-working Americans are having their bank accounts, homes, cars electronics and cash seized by police under the assumption that they have been associated with some criminal scheme. As libertarian Harry Browne observed:

“Asset forfeiture is a mockery of the Bill of Rights. There is no presumption of innocence, no need to prove you guilty (or even charge you with a crime), no right to a jury trial, no right to confront your accuser, no right to a court-appointed attorney (even if the government has just stolen all your money), and no right to compensation for the property that’s been taken.”

Vehicle kill switches. Sold to the public as a safety measure aimed at keeping drunk drivers off the roads, “vehicle kill switches” could quickly become a convenient tool in the hands of government agents to put the government in the driver’s seat while rendering null and void the Constitution’s requirements of privacy and its prohibitions against unreasonable searches and seizures.

As such, it presumes every driver potentially guilty of breaking some law that would require the government to intervene and take over operation of the vehicle or shut it off altogether. The message: we cannot be trusted to obey the law or navigate the world on our end.

Bodily integrity. The government’s presumptions about our so-called guilt or innocence have extended down to our very cellular level. The debate over bodily integrity covers broad territory, ranging from forced vaccinations, forced cavity searches, forced colonoscopies, forced blood draws and forced breath-alcohol tests to forced DNA extractions, forced eye scans, and forced inclusion in biometric databases: these are just a few ways in which Americans continue to be reminded that we have no real privacy, no real presumption of innocence, and no real control over what happens to our bodies during an encounter with government officials.

The groundwork being laid with these mandates is a prologue to what will become the police state’s conquest of a new, relatively uncharted, frontier: inner space, specifically, the inner workings (genetic, biological, biometric, mental, emotional) of the human race.

“Guilt by association” has taken on new connotations in the technological age. Yet the debate over genetic privacy—and when one’s DNA becomes a public commodity outside the protection of the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition on warrantless searches and seizures—is really only beginning.

Get ready, folks, because the government has embarked on a diabolical campaign to create a nation of suspects predicated on a massive national DNA database.

Limitations on our right to move about freely. We think we have the freedom to go where we want and move about freely, but at every turn, we’re hemmed in by laws, fines and penalties that regulate and restrict our autonomy, and surveillance cameras that monitor our movements.

For instance, license plate readers are mass surveillance tools that can photograph over 1,800 license tag numbers per minute, take a picture of every passing license tag number and store the tag number and the date, time, and location of the picture in a searchable database, then share the data with law enforcement, fusion centers and private companies to track the movements of persons in their cars.

With tens of thousands of these license plate readers now in operation throughout the country, police can track vehicles and run the plates through law enforcement databases for abducted children, stolen cars, missing people and wanted fugitives. Of course, the technology is not infallible: there have been numerous incidents in which police have mistakenly relied on license plate data to capture suspects only to end up detaining innocent people at gunpoint.

The war on cash and the introduction of digital currency. Digital currency provides the government and its corporate partners with a mode of commerce that can easily be monitored, tracked, tabulated, mined for data, hacked, hijacked and confiscated when convenient. This push for a digital currency dovetails with the government’s war on cash, which it has been subtly waging for some time now.

In recent years, just the mere possession of significant amounts of cash could implicate you in suspicious activity and label you a criminal. The rationale (by police) is that cash is the currency for illegal transactions given that it’s harder to track, can be used to pay illegal immigrants, and denies the government its share of the “take,” so doing away with paper money will help law enforcement fight crime and help the government realize more revenue.

A cashless society—easily monitored, controlled, manipulated, weaponized and locked down—plays right into the hands of the government (and its corporate partners).

The Security-Industrial Complex. Every crisis—manufactured or otherwise—since the nation’s early beginnings has become a make-work opportunity for the government to expand its reach and its power at taxpayer expense while limiting our freedoms at every turn. What this has amounted to is a war on the American people, fought on American soil, funded with taxpayer dollars, and waged with a single-minded determination to use national crises, manufactured or otherwise, in order to transform the American homeland into a battlefield.

As a result, the American people have been treated like enemy combatants, to be spied on, tracked, scanned, frisked, searched, subjected to all manner of intrusions, intimidated, invaded, raided, manhandled, censored, silenced, shot at, locked up, denied due process, and killed.

These programs push us that much closer towards a suspect society where everyone is potentially guilty of some crime or another and must be preemptively rendered harmless.

The ramifications of empowering the government to sidestep fundamental due process safeguards are so chilling and so far-reaching as to put a target on the back of anyone who happens to be in the same place where a crime takes place.

The groundwork has been laid for a new kind of government where it won’t matter if you’re innocent or guilty, whether you’re a threat to the nation, or even if you’re a citizen. What will matter is what the government—or whoever happens to be calling the shots at the time—thinks. And if the powers-that-be think you’re a threat to the nation and should be locked up, then you’ll be locked up with no access to the protections our Constitution provides.

In effect, you will disappear.

Introductory phrasing seems a bit extreme, but the sentiment holds true for all independent media.

Its not “digital currency”, its “programmable currency”. There’s a massive difference between the 2.
Programmable currency is controlled by a central authority and will dictate what items your money can purchase, how much you can spend, and what mileage your money can be spent in.
Join a protest for free speech, now your money won’t buy milk, or gas. Merely talk to someone who posted truth online, and now your money can’t be spent outside of 1 mile of your home.

No we won’t disappear! What will happen is that people will develop an organised resistance which will overthrow these psychos, expropriate their obscene wealth and create a true socialist society free of the hollow ones. Obviously the leadership for such a change won’t come from the bourgeois Off Guardian, but they will reluctantly get on board when the momentum is in full swing. Of course the bourgeois OG will be held with suspicion as many in the movement will regard it as controlled opposition, but these latter-day compromising Menshevik types will come around and learn the error of their ways when they are put in re-education camps. OK? Cool! Onward fellow free thinkers, the moment is ours to take.

The Marxists are fake opposition created by the banksters. They have supported the scamdemic solidly. Their past record is dismal and dystopian. We need alternative organisations to lead us toward some semblance of freedom.

Top of the essay: “In a closed society where everybody’s guilty, the only crime is getting caught.” Hunter S. Thompson “The burden of proof has been reversed. No longer are we presumed innocent. Now we’re presumed guilty unless we can prove our innocence beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.” £4£&$4$…. I took the insight a few years ago that this mechanism of guilty til proven innocent, a mark of a lawless fascism always, is a more basic “extra-judicial” process that is so fundamental to USAmerican society that it predates all the rest: USA Inc. is a system that makes it impossible for you to escape criminality altogether. Hollywood has thus promoted the Bonnie & Clyde persona as the new age saint, American style. I met a guy at a fast foods place with his grandson and he crowed, with due cover, 3rd person, about being the bastard… Read more »

A real case in point about the obligatory criminalising process that comes as a package with a U.S passport are the incessant variations on a theme of CIA et al. badger games that have been marijuana laws under the $tars & $tripes Forever (I’m at the beach on the 4th of July, so I may be excused for getting a plug in, surely, not to mention a curveball pitch for that musical jarhead John Philip Sousa, what could be more patriotic?). The ostensible “de-criminalisation” of cannabis in California, as one glaring example, very conveniently overlooks the lack of same in the Federal book: the Feds have it both ways, thus letting them play the badgering entrapment game anytime they choose. The mechanisms of culpabilisation remain firmly (enough) for them in place, really. A similar “time-tested” process as suiciding a malcontent, as Robin Williams surely was, then cremating the remains to… Read more »

NB: when I put it ft”cremating the remains to destroy the evidence” I mean, exactly 24 hours + 1 blip or two, after the time stamp on the autopsy. That is the legal minimum allowed for the surviving spouse, by California law. I called the LA Coroner 16 hours after the body of JWE was found in his car, and was told this, that he had just “stamped the autopsy of your father”. He suggested I might want to come out before the cremation, as a hint that not everything was kosher. He suggested, “You might want to come out here, I understand there’s a large estate, and you’re the only son?” Right out of a novel, but I declined, wondering, even then, as dumb as I could be in such matters, if I was being baited. Ironically, he was Coroner Thomas Noguchi’s substitute while Noguchi was undergoing a suspension,… Read more »

The death has occurred of Dr. Vladimir Zelensky at the age of 48, he had been in a long struggle against cancer. He first came to public attention as an opponent of the covid ruse and treated some six thousand patients with a mixture hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin and his own individual treatment methodology. Unfortunately the Israeli authorities banned his medical treatments and forbade him to use his medical skills in Israel. He was always targeted by the medical establishments and as being a crank and charlatan and as an enemy of the people and even suffered death threats. I remember seeing him interviewed on the US oppositionist TV channel – The High Wire – and he came across as a deeply humane figure. He was occasionally quite funny and droll. In one particular instance he described how one of his critics described him as – wait for it – a… Read more »

Del Bigtree appeared on a tv show called “the doctors” distributed by CBS Media Ventures before working on “the highwire”. What was needed was something with easy access. HCQ simply wouldn’t fly because it would depend on the faux medical system who were busy promoting a ‘vaccine’, remdisivir etc. Del Bigtree already saw how in Samoa people were arrested for distributing vitamins. He is is not stupid. None of them are but they led people down a dead end street. Vehicle kill switches<-its not just kill. Access to closed system (such as a car, truck, RR, airplane control system) with capability to disable all elements of internal control and to acquire full external command and control over the operating vehicle system is a real threat, especially so, considering the visual surveillance of traffic signal control and surveillance and satellite surveillance. Example: Agency takes control your car, while you are driving, you can do nothing about it, crashes your car into the mountain, and disconnects its external system. Obviously you committed suicide. This may have been expressed in operating 9/11 aircraft. so not all is bad, seems to me business opportunities are opening to provide defense from external command and control attacks and gear to protect persons who are at risk from establishment tyranny. . I don’t think that’s quite fair, even now, at this late date (aka “stage of the game”). I have worked a fair amount of security over the last 40 years, and I was impressed a few years ago by some comments I read by the gifted genius Italian film-maker, and martyr, Pier Paolo Pasolini. As a general rule, he was supportive of the police, as a class, saying that most of them hailed from blue collar and poor backgrounds and were driven into that work, as a rule (and he was an Italian leftist, mind you!). Not that I’m all in with the one-size-fits-all “I’m just a cop doin’ my job” profile. I worked awhile for a security company where most of the guards had been Marines, many seeing combat, some with pretty bad PTSD, in recovery, others still on reserve or active. Granted, some of the politics were not… Read more »

Get this, a guy signed a referendum I was circulating 8 years ago, in front of a Target near the beaches, here in Huntington Beach, and we stopped to talk for a few minutes. Bageant’s name came up, as I was reading his essays then a lot, and the guy’s face lit up: “I was backing up Joe every night for awhile on guitar while he played his ever present banjo, just a few years ago.” (That’s in a small town, near the other coast, 3000 miles east.) My jaw dropped, “Where was this?” (Which also served as an emergency truth serum, since I might see how much he really knew, or was for “some reason” posing). He gave me the skinny: they had been high school classmates in Winchester, Virginia (check) and after Joe had returned to his small town Virginia roots after decades all over South America (check,… Read more »

That’s the mantra now. “Stay safe”. Yet, a slippery slope, no matter the grade. 20 years ago a W Bush headline blared, “Killers are Plotting to Attack Us” and Hunter S. Thompson came out with his book “Kingdom of Fear”. (Not too long afterwards, he supposedly shot himself.)

Now, at the door of my favorite small market one worker always tells me when I get to the door, “Be safe out there. ”

That prompt increased in my ‘hood by ten time with the Advent of Coronapalooza, lol.

The problem is that the same rules don’t apply to all. We now have racialised policing. Most politicians use racism to play divide and rule games. Do human races exist? If so, where EXACTLY are the dividing lines between different races of humans? It’s all a nonsense. In the video I also explain why it’s more likely for the public sector to engage in racism than the private sector. I always try to post the positive side of resistance but there are a few even on here posting defeatist language.

The key is not a tour de force but a drip, drip, drip.

It’s the tactic that they use.

Too many people bandy about the silly, childish term “defeatist” as if it has the slightest significance. One begins with the realization that some things are correct and therefore deserve to be incorporated into their value system; while other things are incorrect and should be avoided. Then one proceeds to try and retain that which has value, in part because these things help clarify what’s going on in the world and may even offer a strategy for fending off that which is harmful. Simply identifying what is harmful, as well as its magnitude, does not render oneself helpless or cause one to resign to the triumph of the harmful; let alone does identification prompt one to abandon his values and take on the values of others. Knowing what to say and when to say it to gain allies is the most important consideration. Screaming in people’s faces that they’re crazy… Read more »

If I had a dollar for every one of those comments out of those who refuse to even look at what “might” be happening and where that might end up I might not be uber wealthy, but I’d sure have a little savings plowed away from all those dollars received from the willfully blind. Calling someone a defeatist is really just the tactic of someone who not only refuses to look, or to do any research at all, but at the end of the day is just another ad hominem attack from someone who doesn’t have a real argument, and most likely doesn’t care to. What’s amusing and sad at the same time is the reaction I get when I call cops, “pigs”. I’m a child of the fifties, raised in the sixties, and now an old hippie. That’s what I’ve always called them, pigs, and everyone knows the term. But because of the perverse idea that there are “good” cops and we shouldn’t judge them all based on a “few bad apples”, still, over fifty years later, makes many people a little squeamish when I matter of factly call them pigs. Wimps, get a grip, they are the globalists’ enforcers. No amount of teddy bears in their trunks can change that. Think of imperialism and the military, there are no good soldiers or sailors, they are all imperialists. And I admit to having been a sailor, U.S. Navy. But that’s the way it has to be, especially now. If they aren’t on our side,… Read more »

Think of the atrocities the pigs have committed since the scamdemic was unleashed. Across the globe. Potentially fatal rubber bullets in Melbourne. Water cannon in numerous cities across the globe. Which caused detached corneas and other injuries. Attack dogs, batons, tons of pepper spray. Brutal tackles. The fact that riot squads were in place before the psyop is by itself proof that the plandemic was planned years ago.

Sixties’ hippie revolutionaries like:
1) The SLA – a CIA creation to lead white radicals to their destruction. See Brad SChreiber’s ‘Revolution’s End’.
2) The Weather Underground – another deep state creation.
3) All those great musicians who wrote all those great anti-Vietnam songs like… er, well maybe Hendrix’s ‘Machine Gun’ and he ended up dead with a manager who turned out to be connected to British intelligence. Funny how many of them turned out to have military/elite connections and now seem totally down with the convid regime (see Neil Young and Joni Mitchell).

The hippie movement was created to defeat the genuine opposition by the likes of Leary (who wrote the CIA’s personality assessment test) and Ginsberg (paedophile). It should be obvious how many features of the “counterculture” are now clearly part of the elite agenda (ranging from being drug-addled to wallowing in Eastern mysticism to gender-bending).

You’re right on the one hand, wrong on the other. It’s not that the Whiteheads are wrong, and there probably are quite a few other cute things the cunts will come up with. Tax your imagination and you’ll sure think of something. So what does the judicious person who wants to survive more or less unscathed do? Good question. The idea of a revolution is naive to say the least. No revolution is happening, not anytime soon. Most people understand fuck all what’s being foisted on them. In fact, they like the digital cobweb that’s being weaved around them. I witnessed two idiots like that yesterday when I was buying a pair of shorts (mistake I won’t do again – shopping in a second-hand shop is way cheaper, way more fun, and way less hassle). The idea of revolution is not naive in any means. Those that think we don’t need revolution as naive as hell. Look up the definition. We’re simply a change in power. If we don’t change the power structure, most of us are toast, simple ants in an anthill. That’s revolution brother. A revolution can happen in people’s minds, man, don’t downplay, embrace it.

I like that philosophy.
It does tend to let the scum off the hook, though…

I’m thinking along the lines of it being practically impossible for such an appalling lapse in mankind’s evolution to occur again – by making an example of a few of them.
After all, they seem to enjoy making an example of our best and brightest, and thereby succeed in making journalists scared to death of doing their jobs, university professors afraid of opening their mouths and normal people terrified of trusting the evidence of their own eyes or being true to themselves.

We may be faced with the fact that, unfortunately, great catastrophes do seem to make a regular appearance over our long-term history…

We need to dig deep to find our real selves under such circumstances. If we succeed, it might save us.

It really would behoove people, including your revolutionary self, to read what you’re responding to. Nowhere did I say that we don’t need a revolution. I’m fucking game. Thousand percent for it. And I’d venture to say that my idea of a revolution goes much further than yours. For change to happen, such as a revolution, however, the conditions must be right. And they’re not. You won’t stage a revolution or instigate change on your own. That will only happen when things are ripe to happen. There aren’t. In fact, if anything, they’re ripe for the kind of revolution the wokeian-covidian crowd are in the process of staging. You make some good points, Jacques. It always surprises me when people of Albert’s generation openly boast about being an “old hippy,” as if being a hippy was some kind of great achievement in life. In reality, the hippies’ intended revolution was almost a total failure that achieved little of substance. And the reason was not just that the world wasn’t ready for revolution, but that the hippies and counterculture figures in general were often shallow, trite, and vacuous thinkers in the first place, with no clear notion of what they were fighting for or fighting against.

And look around you. Many of the worst enforcers of Covid tyranny and other forms of state overreach are former hippies, now thoroughgoing conformists in their old age. Their “rebellion” today consists of cursing Trump and deriding the MAGA crowd, and shopping for “organic” produce.

There are serious revolutions’ going on right now against globalist owned regimes. Sudan and Tunisia are 2 that come to mind.
I would suggest to keep an eye on them and learn from their failures and successes.
I’ve taken an interest in what’s happening in Sudan. Here you have a totally corrupt gang of thieves ruling with the help of the Egyptian and Israeli intelligence agencies.
The people of Sudan know that if they give up their fight their future is to live like a Palestinian in occupied Palestine or a Egyptian in the Orwellian police state that is Egypt.
My money says the people will prevail. It will be interesting to see if they can hold the globalists criminals at bay after that.

The revolution will not be televised. That is to say, it will not be acknowledged. Think about the last couple of years and the different treatment of people around the world. Imagine if they did the the same in, say London, that they did in China. It’s easy enough to imagine the worst kind of dystopia when we read all the stuff on here and elsewhere but in real life they won’t get away with it with cultures vastly different to communist regimes. Walk in a crowded city and feel the number of people around you and the collective power those people have. No, they won’t get away with it- and they know it! Everyone has a limit. We’ll find out where that limit is this coming winter when they turn off the gas and food. It won’t be pretty but I predict a severe pushback followed by a tacit… Read more »

A more nuanced approach to revolution might be more productive. History shows us thatin any successful rebellion an autocracy emerges from the chaos which is often as bad or worse than the conditions that caused the revolution in the first place. There’s lots of reasons for this (including, but not limited to, the displaced class and their allies doing everything in their power to cause a failure) but it doesn’t matter — the wise approach would be to plan for this. I also grew up in this era and found the potential change in mass consciousness refreshing. The catalyst for this was the Vietnam war, of course. This exposed the contradictions and crassness of ‘the system’, not in terms of conspiracy theories but in what we could call conspiracy facts. This posed a serious threat to the status quo which was responded to by a surprisingly coordinated campaign. This may… Read more »

(Unlike many people I see things like TV shows as not just entertainment but cultural propaganda.) “Regrooving” people took time — it wasn’t going to happen overnight — but any revolution was well and truly snuffed out by “Morning in America” and its UK analog, “TINA”. If the revolution could be so easily rerouted and cancelled, that shows it was never that deep and powerful to begin with. Genuinely profound subversiveness cannot be stopped with superficial propaganda unless it already contained some weakness and sickness at its core. It took less than two decades for Easy Rider to give way to Top Gun. And three and a half decades after Top Gun, the sequel Top Gun: Maverick is the box office sensation of the year. If the Sixties had been as truly, radically subversive as is often claimed, the mainstream culture of the 1980s or today wouldn’t even have been… Read more »

No, it was a threat to the status quo, so it had to be infiltrated, led, subverted & consumed.

It is not possible to infiltrate and subvert an entire counterculture, individual groups yes, but not a whole culture.

Furthermore, the intellectual weaknesses and failings of the movement were apparent to discerning observers even at the time, not merely in retrospect, who realized the movement was going to fail due to inner failings and failures of perception, not simply due to outside opposition.

The “infiltration” explanation is what every group uses to rationalize away failures. It’s a bogus explanation and an excuse not to reflect. All you have to do is try reading the books and pamphlets produced by the sixties counterculture. Not a single lasting, important book was produced. Nothing to stand comparison with the great philosophers, novelists, political theorists, essayists in history.

If one doesn’t see the extent of infiltration, it becomes easy to view it as just an “excuse”. The real threat of the sixties to the status quo were people who saw where a materialistic, consumerist culture was leading & you had people like Rachel Carson exposing the unbelievable damage industry was doing with biocides. It’s foolish to assume that all police are evil. For example, to break the truckers’ occupation in Canada, it was necessary for TPTB to call in UN troops w/o insignia.
Many people select policework out of idealism, and some even maintain it throughout their careers. Those who slander an entire group of people have lost the idealism that bids us to evaluate people individually, and to seek the truth.

A personal anecdote: the police were called when I refused to mask-up in a small shop. They refused to come. I could hear only the manager’s side of the conversation, but it was unmistakable.
Plus several fine sheriffs and even entire departments have gone public with their refusals, across the country.

World’s largest cricket processing plant coming to London, Ont. Aspire farms processes crickets into all-natural, sustainable, superfood ingredients.

Crickets can be used in a number of ways for making high-protein food, whether they are roasted whole or put into protein bars. ‘Like an oatmeal stout with a twist,’ says Quebec brewer behind cricket beer

Aspire will soon build a 100,000-square-foot plant that will bring bugs, as food, to the North American market.

Read earlier today on a Science site that humans and octopuses had the same intelligence gene. That startled me, as i didnt know the “intelligence gene” had been isolated…
Anyway, so often these days humans are being compared to machines…
AI seems to have become the standard against which human intelligence is compared. Could be just sloppy thinking ?
It could be argued that Human Artificial Intelligence (HAI) is quite prevalent, and if it is compared to machine AI the latter wins hands down…
Or it could be another word has had its definition changed to fit The Science ?

les, as you say, “humans are being compared to machines.” Of course that’s what “they” want us to be, because that makes us controllable, programmable, etc.

It’s also emblematic of a strange error in physics which seeks to find causality in the smallest particles, rather than in the complex organization that determines life. They often argue that there is no free will– merely because they cannot find it in particles. You can’t find vision in a single molecule of the eye; doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

sloppy thinking? I don’t know– for some, it may be “useful thinking.”

Thanks, that long piece was nevertheless worth reading. But I always feel one caution: We mustn’t forget that the “Nation-State rivalry” which we’re so encouraged to see as the total may actually be secondary (just a pretext) to the NWO’s agenda of degrading world economic power

There is powerful evidence to support this: If US, the apparent arch-villain of Nation-State dominance, wants this as #1 priority why handle military procurement in such a slipshod way?

Indeed, why degrade the military men? The anthrax vaccine which may have incapacitated as many as half a million men, Gulf War Syndrome caused by US itself according to the Congressional hearings, and now the covi-vaxx?

DUTCH FARMERS TOOK TO THE HIGHWAYS W TRACTORS

DUTCH farmers are furious and in a fight for survival as green politicians attempt to shut down 30 percent of the nation’s livestock supply allegedly to stop “nitrogen pollution”. Watch for similar moves by Australia’s new Labor Government that has signed up to the net-zero insanity.

The Netherlands has 100 million head of cattle, pigs and chickens and is a major exporter of meat across Europe.

FDF leader Van den Oever, a pig farmer, compared the position of farmers to the persecution of the Jews during World War 2 and threatened blockades of roads and food supplies.

The country’s main farming lobby group LTO called on farmers to protest ‘appropriately’ and said using tractors was justified but not at politicians’ homes.

The government doesn’t have a narrative. The terrorists have a narrative and their propaganda such as wearing masks is banned. When writing about such topics as a “police state” it is best to put a disclaimer warning of the dangerous content. This is in the best interest of everyone. To help protect against radicalisation and terrorism. It is a national security prerogative. If there was a disclaimer then it would be clear what was official and what wasn’t.

I find that Off-Guardian was an informative site frequented by commenters making interesting comments and providing interesting references during the CONVID hoax. More and more, however, the texts that get published and, more importantly, the comments do nothing but cement a general perception that everything is fucked, everything is fake, that everybody will be fucked over bad.

This shit is an example par excellence.

How about coming up with a solution, suggestion here and there instead of the unrelenting reiteration how everything is fucked and no one’s gonna escape?

Why the fuck is the government constantly painted as an omnipotent entity and people as helpless sheeple? It’s the other way around. The people are holding the long end of the stick thanks to our sheer numbers.

The articles above the line were useful in the beginning of covid. OffG was the only site (in contrast to Unz, zerohedge, moa, counterpunch, media lens, Caitlin Johnstone, RT, Sputnik, etc, etc) that was sceptical towards the covid narrative. For that they do deserve credit. But for the rest it is a one dimensional site. They say: ‘look at how awful this’ and ‘see how they screw us that’. I say keep coming back Willem. Diversity of opinion is essential and ultimately we mostly all agree on what the threat is.
I have reservations about OffG too, there was a perceptible shift after the week shutdown some time ago and the articles have been less stimulating imho but still worth a visit.

I also sense some cooling in Kit’s enthusiasm. However, all things change over time and I will be eternally grateful to this site for helping me grasp some understanding of what my senses were screaming at me in spring 2020.

It is not what they say but rather who talks and who controls the talk content that enlightens and brings on real comprehension. Content is merely a tool used by someone with an ulterior intent. Study for example Joseph Atwill.

In general government-edited/controlled information can be circulated by two channels. the official one for those malleable, and the one for so called dissenters, the contrarian types. I mean: the same information is tunneled into the two routes.
True dissent will never see the daylight, on the contrary they will be chased and imprisoned to the limits. Study the XIX century history of Communism in Russia. You will see persecutions and executions and nothing else behind it.
Other examples I am too frightened to even mention here, though obviously they are commonly known to those who happen to be educated.

Or better even, do you have a spare million usd? Or maybe two or three such spare drawers of cash? Then you can invest it in the outer space investment fund, chaired or ”something like that” by Catherine Austin Fitts.
Certainly she could fund/sponsor/you-name-it a few such outfits like Off-G. I mean, I don’t know who those people are.

I really enjoy listening to CAF but equally feel there’s something off. Perhaps it’s the stories she tells that make her sound like the hero from some Minority Report script, in bed with a sniper red light scanning across her body etc.

And certain things she claims to have discussed (such as ‘WHO IS MR GLOBAL?’) cannot be located anywhere. Basically every talk is advertising for overpriced Solari report – she’s giving ZILCH away on her website but as she said recently – we are up shit creek without a paddle.

That’s perhaps because everything IS fucked, Jaques.
Until sometime last year I guess, I was a prolific content creator, posting on my own website and blogs and in various forums on current affairs. Recently however, I find myself struggling to create something once a week.
I’ve said all I have to say on climate change, COVID, going cashless, the war on free speech, billionaire psychopaths buying influence over government policy, net zero and green bollocks, Ukraine, Syria, Brexit,The death of democracy etc. etc. yet we keep going around the same loops as the people who control the narratives drag us back again and again to their agendas.

The roadblock to setting things right is what it’s always been: people. It’s not, as you point out, the psychos’ lust for wealth and power that’s the problem. It’s the majority’s willingness to accept the psychos as having a legitimate right to dictate to them.

The “solution” is for people to realize that their willingness to bow to authority is self-defeating and will always lead to disaster. Finding a way to get that realization inside people’s heads is the stumbling block.

The New World Order is upon us. The Deep State’s overreach is expanding daily. The COVID scam made it easier for the fascist technocrats to usher in the NWO aka the Great Reset in the name of health, safety and security. The people are being made poorer by the oligarchs and their policies which are imploding the global economies as we speak. The “You will own nothing and be happy” trial balloon video the Davos crowd floated a few months ago seems to have fallen on deaf ears and blank minds. Sadly the masses are too comatose, terrorized and traumatized by the deep state’s mind control apparatus to realize what is happening to us. Reversal of the burden of proof has been the central prop of the encroaching fascist state since 9/11 which was an excellent demonstration of the prop i.e. the official account was presupposed and the “alternative” accounts were charged with supplying proof. Thus e.g. when you couldn’t prove that the twin towers were brought down by controlled demolition – because the materials had been conveniently cleared away – then THAT lack of proof was taken to be proof of the opposite i.e. proof that the twin towers were NOT brought down by controlled demolition. But the innermost essence of the tactic is the accusations of sexual assault from incidents that allegedly happened decades ago, these accusations being unquestioningly cycled by the media without trial. And when the trial comes it is irrelevant because the media has already imprinted its tale on every mind. This is the dream of the rulers i.e.… Read more »

It’s not the past we need to worry about George. The question we must ask ourselves again at this juncture, is it now already too late to prevent the onward march to total global domination by the dark forces that are now making further advances toward their ultimate control of the planet – including its resources and whatever will remain of its current slave population?  I have stated several times in the past, that unless the majority of people on the planet CHANGE their ways (and I can’t see that happening at the moment) and become effectively ORGANIZED etc then they will be absolutely overwhelmed by what’s to come. Things are now happening at an accelerating pace, but there are still people wearing masks, and others are burying their heads in the sand! I also agree with what you have stated George. But surely, enough has been posted by now on the “tactics of the rulers” along with proof of same. My point is, if people in general do not change and become effectively organized at different levels, remain complacent and fail to develop strategies to resist and defeat the despicable tactics of the so-called “rulers”, then its ‘goodnight Vienna’ for us all.

I get the impression that we are being laughed at, because the “rulers” know full well that its just all flatus vocis and people will continue to take in the all crap that they are being indoctrinated with via the MSM and other ideological apparatuses! They will continue to do nothing until the SHTF then what?

Gotta luv the Danish Prime Minister’s ‘apology’ for making the mink farmers destroy ALL their livestock, “because of the risk of their transmitting covid19″…

A text-book example of an apology which isn’t an apology at all:
“I apologize for the measures that were taken – I can’t imagine what it must have been like for you to lose your livelihood overnight, just like that – Er… but we had to do it…”

Translation:
“Despite being Prime Minister, I authorized those measures in obedience to beings higher up the ladder than myself.
“I can’t imagine what it must have been like for you, because my imagination – fortunately for me – doesn’t extend that far.
“Some guy who works for a newspaper said we had to do it, because it makes for a dramatic story, and, er… anyway… er… tough titty.”

Moneycircus,
I note that EVERY point made by Tom on 6/30 was made by Tony Cartalucci on 6/25 and more briefly. Tom is even delayed describing the state of the battle, as compared to Cartalucci. They both site RUSI as an authority, and site the unreadiness of the West’s military industry, etc.
https://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/2022/06/video-russian-ops-in-ukraine-for-june.html

At the last Tom mentions his surprise over a single sentence hinting at a Bricks reserve currency. This was announced by the Russian press on approx the 20th & picked up by Globalresearch on June 23d.

Perhaps of equal interest– In midst of this China deposits reserve currency with. . . the BIS!!  Not exactly an anti-establishment or anti-Western move.

Here in the US, every single thing Mr Whitehead lists is perfectly okay with the majority of American citizens – just so long as it’s only visited upon those “others” in the ghetto who are intrinsically bad or else they wouldn’t be in a ghetto in the first place.

“Justice” (as if there can be such a thing as justice where there are Laws) is generally seen as dependent on who and where you are – not on what you do. Doing something “bad” merely convinces the good citizens that they were right in assuming you would always turn “bad” because you are “other” than them and live someplace they would never choose to live.

The good citizens, you see, were born – not with a silver spoon in their mouths but wearing boot straps.

I’ve heard people talk about wiping the entire country that isn’t the NE and West coast off the map in a not so tongue in cheek manner. Meanwhile SOME of the folks in the south and Midwest are just as sure the “welfare queen” stereotype is what’s ruining the country. If it wasn’t so sad I’d marvel at how expertly they’ve deployed the good ole’ divide and conquer. Either side of this false dialectic would be none too pleased to discover that the PTB think ALL of them are fools to be manipulated and they’re not wrong at this point.

Whitehead’s webpage states that he is a constitutional attorney, surely that qualifies as an oxymoron. BAR attorneys deal strictly in the commercial ‘legal’ jurisdiction, not the ‘lawful’ jurisdiction of living ‘Man and Woman’ whose Natural rights the Constitution was written to protect.

Hello Freecus: Correct. BAR attorneys belong to the same club as Barristers. When a defendant is asked to approach the Bench, and complies, all civil rights evaporate. Crossing over to the “courts” jurisdiction is an admission of mental incompetence concerning one’s ability to represent themselves in a court of law. Thus an “esquire” (representative) is supplied to blow smoke toward the smokescreens of justice. > Another opinion. > Excerpted from: CPS – CROWN TEMPLE B.A.R. That wasn’t a shooting. It was another drill-exercise. The defund the police scheme was to create race wars and incite violence and riots. Divide and conquer; straight out of Tavistock. The media are always trying to present America as more dangerous and crime ridden than it actually is, to the rest of the FiveEyes populations and even to the general public in the US. It’s part of the psyop. To make people view police as essential, instead of what they really are, which is armed, privately controlled thugs (mostly all Freemasons) of the unlawful, privately owned, incorporated governments. Nearly everything in the news is a hoax or a psyop. Helter Skelter wasn’t real. And neither were any of the assassinations, alleged serial killers or even the OJ Simpson case. Or why not? By controlling the population they maintain power. “The will to power” is an end in itself. Losing control of the populations means that group, specifically, losing everything: Their status. Their power. Their wealth. Their control. Their lives.

Whatever they tell their cult may be as much of a psyop as the hoaxes they invent for “the profane”. The misery they inflict isn’t necessary. Therefore there’s no altruism involved. It’s just a very old, sadistic cult.

They have control. They maintain control. They harness and exploit.

Power, wealth, status, misery are not ends to them, but epiphenomena.

This is a multi-generational mission. The motivation is way beyond personal gratification, or even a petty interest in bloodline perpetuation.

Those that write them off as sadists, evil demons, or insane lunatics simply lack the ability to grasp the scale of the mission.

When that scale is apprehended, what is being done no longer appears insane or thermodynamically nonsensical.

TPTB are biasing conditions to favour the survival of the fittest, most sapient, and the reverse (disfavoring the opposite). They are also deliberatey spurring the percipient into becoming perspicacious, i.e. ‘waking them up’. However, they necessarily deal in the ‘large’. Individuals are on their own.

Even then, it’s still no excuse. There’s no need to wreak so much havoc and misery on humanity for untold centuries just so they can promote ONLY their own and remain in charge after catastrophic astronomical events because they have some inflated sense of worth above the rest of humanity. That’s sociopathic.

It is impossible to fake globally pervasive geological strata – unless you subscribe to the ‘simulation hypothesis’. Ipso facto, I am not being played.

It will seem as if they are only concerned with themselves, and no doubt that they consider themselves necessarily superior. However, if they were concerned with themselves to a fault, they’d condemn themselves to extinction in a very short time. Therefore, even if in self interest, their greatest concern must be for h sapiens and the perpetuation of its technological advancement.

Hence The Great Reset and Building Back Better in the NWO thereafter.

It is tricky to preserve the sapient without triggering WWZ. Hence the Great Winnowing, i.e. Covid, etc.

Did you study the geological strata yourself? Cataclysms every 12000 years? Happening for 10-20 hours? How large are the sediment strata for those 10-20 hours? How do you know empirically that they were formed after a cataclysm that lasted that long? I bet you didn’t raise a shovel in your entire life and haven’t seen any of that evidence first hand. As we know for a fact that medical science, climate science and so on are corrupted beyond belief what makes you think geological science isn’t? Are you a geologist? As I stated, the cruelty, trauma, dishonesty and the misery inflicted is completely unnecessary and perverse. The “people” involved in vaccination for instance are complete psychopaths. Destroying babies brains and bodies is unconscionable. There’s no excuse. None. Psychopaths have no empathy because that part of the brain is destroyed during childhood from their upbringing within “the order”, justified using the false sense of superiority, being told they are “special” and the owners of other humans. Psychopaths are useful in that they’ll carry out orders without compunction, but they must also be controlled, and they likely need more severe control than non-psychopaths. As you say, “rules only through fear, violence, intimidation, deception and fraud, NOT love, respect or honesty”. Like visiting an abattoir or autopsy theatre, it is certainly not pleasant peering into the abyss, however, only there lies further understanding. To flee in despair is unsurprising, but it will leave you with an imperfect/incomplete understanding. There are non-fakeable means of determining at what point we are in the Great Year, i.e. other than the Gregorian calendar. And also, how close we are to either of the two critical junctures, but not with a precision greater than ‘within the next few decades’. The problem remains as what can be done about the racketeering, outright fraud and deception perpetrated by the dark forces on the world population. Also, what strategy will possibly work and what will not work, either practically, legally, lawfully and peacefully, and the possible consequences for the global population at large if that particular option is not viable or fails. There is a symbiotic relationship between the population and the PTB that have nurtured, directed and harnessed it.   You may as well ask how to remove the brain, spinal cord and network of nerves from a body.   Because you don’t understand its purpose, and perceive it as a parasite extracting nutrients from the body, you assume that its removal would leave the body healthier.   Firstly, it cannot be done. Secondly, we are at the beginning of a metamorphosis, where the body of humanity must become extremely lean and compact in order to survive through a brief hibernation. It may well be traumatic to witness, and so antipathy towards TPTB will increase accordingly (which they fully expect).   If you think ‘it can be done‘, beware that any group of insurrectionists that form into a large enough mass to become noticeable to TPTB will demonstrate their lack of… Read more »

In any case, removing the parasite as you put it,is not a viable option as it does not necessarily make a social body healthier unless the next lot of would be parasites and functionaries are prevented by the people from taking office and exercising their tyrannical control. Violent insurrections will be smashed as you correctly point out, fleeing into the wilderness won’t work because it doesn’t solve the problem, and neither does simply remaining to possibly be a victim of internment. TPTB have been with mankind for thousands of years, with a secret purpose or ‘Great Mission’ that is now coming to fruition.   Certainly, there have been massive frauds and deceptions (sometimes staggeringly so), but then they’d argue such a modus operandi was indispensable.   You should at least consider their recent actions in awakening the percipient, spurring them into perspicacity – primarily in order to favour their survival prospects – in these times, that they will make ever more arduous.   Legitimacy doesn’t come into it. It’s a matter of absolute necessity.   It is better to devote your efforts to discovering what such a necessity could be, than to foment resistance against that which you do not yet understand.   Covid should have demonstrated to you how impotent the few awakened are against the somnolent masses, let alone TPTB that control them. At first, within local communities then hopefully within nations by introducing and reinstating the force of the common law and peace officers to enforce the court rulings of the people where individuals who commit crimes against the people can be brought to justice. Yes, it’s a very drawn out kiss goodbye – already in progress.

You appear to be referring to some sort of ‘global social pathology’ that has possibly inflicted humanity, as a result of karmic law. If its a question of karmic consequence then people can still do something beneficial and change their destiny within the karmic conditions that operate, but their fate will still ultimately be determined by karma. Hoaxing and psyops is what the intel agencies are REALLY doing. They aren’t spying on other “countries” (incorporated municipalities) or catching criminals, since they are the real criminals. They are running psyops on their own populations.

Besides the obvious Gematria, there’s tons of evidence of the hoaxing in the OJ Simpson trial, the non-murders and the obvious attempt to incite racial tensions.

Why do you think they televized the trial? And the absurd Bronco non-chase? Had Furman confessing to using the N word? They don’t televize real events and real trials. All the players in these psyops are just second rate actors and Freemasons.

Depends on the definition of a Psyop. The ideological state apparatuses and private ideological apparatuses including the media etc involve psychological operations do they not, in the widest sense of the term. This may include non-military actions designed to influence the perceptions, attitudes of individuals and groups, and even foreign governments. The purpose of psychological operations is also to induce or reinforce behaviour favourable to a government’s or a nation’s objectives.

I think the underlying problem are humans. We are all flawed and some of us are a lot more flawed than others. Humans are in control of the ism’s, Capitalism, socialism, communism, Marxism, etc. IMO, if humans were perfect or near perfect, any ism would work.If we didn’t lie, steal, kill, lust for power and control over others, but were honest and only wanted to do good for all and held ourselves accountable for straying anything could work.

However, that’s not the case. The humans that typically gravitate to the top of governments are power and control hungry, narcissistic, self serving and sometimes outright evil. So the best system is the freest system for humans and that’s what the American Constitution tried to do. Unfortunately it’s being whittled away by humans.

Some of these paragraphs are extremely frightening. One of the biggest issues are the kangaroo courts where judges rubberstamp police and security organs requests. It’s very similar to the Soviet Union under Stalin and Beria. Great importance was attached to the legality of the purges. There were documents and confessions, something similar to the US plea bargain, where you are lucky to get away with your life (i.e. 10 years in prison instead of 70 years) in exchange for admitting guilt (whether you are guilty or not).

As Israel became some strange mirror of the Third Reich police state in its repression of the Palestinians, it appears the USA is becoming a mirror image of the Soviet Union. At the same time, Russians enjoy more media freedom and freedom of speech and protection of the law than the USA (in turn becoming a mirror of their longstanding enemy).

When a mayor tried to lock down an area during the international lock-down craze, he was found murdered in his bed the day after his announcement. Another head honcho wanted some other massive human rights violating restriction and his head was found cut off on the beach the next day.

I was in & out of Mexico many times when I was younger. A good-looking young dude that I knew confronted another hombre in village bar saying the town wasn’t big enough for the two of them. The next day, everybody closed up tight while the two contestants came from opposite ends of town. Both died there in the street.

Another time I rented a house in a village and was told of ELEVEN men who had lived within 2 blocks of the house– each of these had had to go “al Norte” to avoid the authorities after killing someone.

I loved Mexican village life, but it is a foreign country.

Sounds like Proudhon had been watching the 1960’s TV series – ‘The Prisoner’ where Number 6, an ex intelligence agent played by Patrick McGoohan was imprisoned because he resigned for no apparent reason. As punishment he was sent to what resembled a holiday camp from hell, also known as ‘The Village’ which had its own governing committee and prison governor (No 2) and a taxi service which was strictly ‘local’. Number 2 was always trying to make deals with Number 6 in order to determine why he resigned, but 6 would have none of it:

I will not make any deals with you. I’ve resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered! My life is my own!

I’m afraid that the assumptions made in these scenarios are so often ridiculously wrong, since there is usually a myriad of possible explanations to explain certain behaviours. As an example from football about a decade or so ago: a rumour that Theo Walcott had put his house up for sale immediately turned into fulminating outrage that he was leaving the club (when the fans wanted him to leave, they could scream their heads off to their hearts’ content, but if he wanted to leave? OUTRAGE!!) I respectfully pointed out to the (probably) drunken fulminators that, in fact, an equally viable explanation for the behaviour was that the player had proposed to his girlfriend and that she wanted them to start married life in a home they chose together, rather than one that the footballer had chosen on his own. Perish the thought that footballers might have a sex life outside… Read more »
