Rob… I really appreciated those links, and to keep it simple, Sandburg’s poetry was really lovely and evocative. When I checked out those names, had a big smile on my face. I saw no schmaltz at all! I checked out The Family Of Man also, and perhaps if I get back to selling the mag, and get some money in the bank, will buy the book.
Interestingly, a while back, greatly enjoyed the music of a band called Family Of Man (assume now they were named after the exhibition).

Hanif Kureishi! To my shame, I’ve never read any of his books, but loved Buddha Of Suburbia and My Beautiful Laundrette in their screen forms. When I was much younger, I was a quite prolific reader, but as I’ve gotten older, it’s much more visual than holding an actual book in my hands…
What happens, happens, or as Buddha says, what is, is. I’m just handing things over to the Universe. You can’t force people to wake up if they don’t want too.

Gezzah – about “The Family of Man” mentioned in another Coronavirus thread that I can’t now (easily) get back to: it was a 1955 Museum of Modern Art photo exhibition curated by Edward Steichen that was turned into a photobook with a Prologue by Carl Sandburg. Millions saw the exhibition when it went on tour around the world and millions of copies of the book, which has been in print since 1955, have been sold world wide. It is unlikely that Melbourne public libraries do not have at least one copy between them or cannot access it through an interlibrary system. The paperback version is available for US $15 from amazon.com but currently ships with huge COVID-19 freight cost inflation. I checked amazon.com.au but it has no listing for it at all. Ordinary people tend to love it but some public attitudenizers see it as manipulative Yankee hokum wallowing in a sea of schmaltz. But then, St Paul’s attempts at a Christian inclusion of all men get a frown out of Nietzsche and a right kick up the butt from Ayn Rand. Brotherly love and uncomplicated portraits of the joys, sadnesses, hates, horrors and loves of simple people and shared humanity seldom get an easy ride. William Saroyan, Arnold Wesker, Hanif Kureishi, Ray Lawler, Vikas Swarup, Tenessee Williams, Frank Capa and thousands of others have all lifted people for a time only to get it in the critical neck for their efforts, often less than a lifetime later.

Vierotchka, I agree that there are harmless viruses that have been isolated and their genomes and proteins have been determined and biologically characterized. However, I do not know of any specific pathogenic coronaviruses or indeed, of any harmless whole complete coronaviruses (genomes intact) that have ever been physically isolated, photographed, purified, with their proteins characterized etc. to date.

All the scientific papers that I have read are full of baloney they do not specify all the stepwise scientific details required and also the necessary controls. Nor do they include any convincing electron micrographs that show particles of the same size which tends to imply there are impurities present and the virus has not been effectively purified free from contaminants. There are other problems too that I have covered on another thread.

If you come across a paper claiming coronavirus isolation I’d be more than pleased to read it, but none claiming ‘isolation’ by using RT-PCR where a model of an imaginary coronavirus genome is conjured up and then patched together out of segments of gene substance like a mosaic and claimed to be the actual genome of a real isolated coronavirus.

Your critical analysis of the situation would be most welcome and would get a reply from me if you so desire one.

The Pentagon has been collecting zoonoses from ‘hot zones’ principally in the tropics, for decades. With recombination technologies, and with CRISPR, the era of ethnically specific bio-weapons is upon us. And there is no power, no force for Evil, more likely to use them than the USA. Or Israel, come to think of it. They researched such weapons for years with their dear friends in apartheid South Africa.

The USA, ie the Pentagon and ‘contractors’, have been collecting bat coronaviruses in South East Asia, southern China and places like Kazakhstan, for some years, and experimenting on them-purely for ‘defensive’ purposes, of course.
