Gazeta.ru reports about a protest in Kiev on Thursday April 23 against an allegedly illegal construction site:
In Kiev, there were riots that quickly escalated into clashes with police. In the Osokorky residential area about 150 people protested against the appearance of a fence, put up by one of the firms wanting to fence the construction site. Young people tried to knock down the fence and were prevented to do so by the construction site guards. Protesters used stones, bottles, smoke bombs. Then came the police. Law enforcers were forced to apply traumatic weapons. Eyewitnesses claim that the shooting was started by a man in civilian clothes, who fired at least a round into the crowd. He was rescued from the crowd by unknown police officers under the pretext of him being wounded. Several people were injured. Three police officers were turned over for medical care.
