I used to have a bookmark to John Pilger’s page at the New Statesman …

… but strangely, that page has now gone. The “Our Writers” page of the NS is full of pseudo-left (ex-)Guardian people and fashionable shills like Moore, Penny, Self, Zizek – but John Pilger is no longer among them. What has happened? Even the Guardian still maintains a profile page …

… and occasionally publishes an article by John Pilger (the last in April this year). Is the NS now so fully in line with the aggressive western/imperial narrative that they can no longer tolerate writers who talk about the horrors that their kind of journalism promote?

      @ Lumpy
pilger is still listed there, he has been allocated a number instead of a name..

however, there is a story there, where pilger defends assange and wikileaks..

assange is on the record saying – that people who disagree with the official account of 9/11, are annoying, and that is is a false conspiracy ..

assange and pilger are both peas in the same pod.

Thanks a lot for the link to the ‘John Pilger as a number’ page. I wasn’t aware of it. To me the disappearance of John’s name looks as though the NS is nowadays embarrassed by one of their best longtime writers. Rotten.

no worries re the link.. I guess they just reconfigured their website a bit.. happens all the time. If I was a website, and pilger was one of my best writers, Id be embarrassed too.. hell, Im embarrassed just because i used to link to pilgers articles before I realised what a gatekeeper he is.

John Pilger talking about propaganda? well, I guess he is a bit of an expert on the subject.

At the 2010 Anarchist Bookfair in London there was a discussion with independent journalist and filmmaker John Pilger (which was recorded – listen below) and one of the questions from the audience was about the attacks on 9/11. The following is a transcript of the question and his reply:

Audience Question: “I would like to ask your views or theory that the US government was complicit in or even perpetrated the attacks on 9/11 to gain support for criminal [inaudible] Afghanistan and Iraq?”

John Pilger: “I think there is a lot of evidence that certain elements in the Bush administration, whether by intent or by or by their own arrogant incompetence, I don’t know, let things happen. I think there is enough evidence to…

We know the senior FBI people who gave warnings right throughout 2001. We know about the extraordinary inactivity by the NORAD aircraft on the day of September 11th. We know that Cheney was in charge of the White House on that day.

I think the most plausible is the “let it happen”, now at what stage it was let happen, I don’t know, I don’t know. But certainly that seems to me, the most plausible.

There is no doubt that 9/11 became the opportunity for a new “Cold War” basically, only called the “War on Terror”. But beyond that I wouldn’t want to…”

Let it happen? Plausible? by his statements, he is backing up the official garbage story line that it was muslim hijackers with box-cutters..
well apart from the fact that there is no evidence to support that, how can he say it is “plausible” that they let these hijackers rig building 7 to collapse at freefall acceleration.

I think it is most plausible that John Pilger is not adverse to a fair whallop of propaganda himself.

I much prefer to read a text than listen to a video. The information is then easier to absorb.
