BREAKING: James Le Mesurier Found Dead in Turkey

James Le Mesurier, “former” British soldier and founder of the White Helmets, is allegedly dead.
The current story is he was found on the street outside his home in Istanbul, with fractures to his legs and skull. The obvious interpretation – and current working hypothesis – is that he either fell, jumped, or was pushed from his balcony.
As always, these “facts” are subject to change. By tomorrow, the story may be totally different. Which of these three stories the media chooses to run with will be important in divining the truth of the situation.
What may have happened? Almost anything.
The hard certainties of the situation are still scarce. It legitimately might have been an accident, he may have committed suicide.
Such is the nature of the modern news cycle that we can’t even take for granted, at this point, that he’s actually dead. Recall Arkady Babchenko was “dead” for a few days before his miraculous recovery.
Let’s assume, for now, that he is actually dead, and that we are going to be told it was murder. Logic suggests four possible suspects put forward by the mainstream media – Assad, Putin, Erdogan or “terrorists”.
As always, the most important question – rather than “what happened?” – will be “what agenda will this serve?”

- Is this tied to his activities in Syria?
- How will the press cover his death?
- Will it have any bearing on reality?

The obituary for JLeM on ABC down here in Aussie was just as gushing, if not more so. Then they thought it would be a jolly good idea to post it on their Facebook page…. Open to public comment. They thought everyone would gush along with them. Duh! Wrong. Okay, the majority still acted like brainwashed sheep, and fully accept the MSM crap about the White Helmets. But… a sizable minority of commenters (at least a Third) kicked up a stink, called the ABC out on their blatant propaganda, named the WH as terrorists responsible for false flags and propaganda videos; who funded them, and why. On a separate issue, I don’t know about anyone else, but I find the silence from home-based UK politicians in response to Le M’s death strangely odd. Considering he was such a current ‘humanitarian hero’ who founded an organisation that the UK government invested £ millions and millions into, there has been no tweet from the FCO regarding his demise. It has been left to (Dame) Karen Pierce, UK Ambassador to the UN, to tweet her sadness and to comment that the UK will be closely following the investigation into his death. Perhaps she didn’t receive the memo. She strikes me as a bit of a loose cannon.

Another titbit to help your jigsaw! Rory Stewart. Age 46. Father worked for MI6. At 26 years of age Rory was British Representative to Montenegro ‘in the wake of the Kosovo campaign’. So he would have been in Montenegro in 1999. Putting together dates for James Le Mesurier’s career, he would have been in Kosovo in the late 1990s. According to Stewart’s Wikipedia entry, “Some have suggested that Stewart was an employee of MI6 during his time in Montenegro”.

All these people obviously know one another, indirectly as well as directly, so if there is overlap between their times in the FCO or British military intelligence, you may take it as given that they are networking with one another. Probably no need to speculate on whether either of the Le Mesurier couple was having an affair until evidence surfaces to suggest this was so. The possibility arises though that Winberg may have been assigned to watch over Le Mesurier as some sort of minder (and even married him as part of the job as minder) and could have been feeding him drugs to keep him under control. The Turkish authorities should have kept his body and done an autopsy to ascertain what drugs he was actually consuming. So reporters include guessing games in their stories now, Derek? We have to match the “street worker” in the story with the coffee vendor in the photo? You do know “street worker” tends to refer to a sex worker, right?
Your problems with that text are due to incompetent translation from Turkish.
Piero, unless you did an analysis that’s simply assertion. Did you do an analysis? Do you know if the translation was done by a non-native speaker or a native speaker? And some things seem nothing to do with translation, eg, LM’s wife says “I looked through the window on the third floor and saw him lying on the floor.” In any language, why would you describe seeing the body of your husband from the floor you’re on when it is assumed that it is the floor on which you live and which at that point you wouldn’t refer to.
My hypothesis is perfectly valid according to my analysis so please don’t pluck alternative hypotheses out of the ether without analysis. To contradict an hypothesis you can’t simply present an alternative without saying why it’s better.
Not to disagree that there are some implausible aspects to this narrative, but the words attributed to interviewees in newspapers are rarely verbatim. It’s not a transcript. It’s very common for actual words to be summarised or clarified by the sub eds in order to make things more succinct. She might have conveyed the same info but in far more rambling form which the sub ed has then snipped and condensed.
Perhaps the oh so “woke,” oh so “humanitarian” denizens of Hollywood (thinking Netflix documentary & the “awards”) can come up with a posthumous award for this guy. Most people falling from the height indicated in this photo, should have survived, especially a fit man with a great deal of military experience, unless they got very unlucky or deliberately fell head first, and missed the furniture, and that sharp thing. Whilst it is highly likely the people who found him, will know the truth, if anything actually happened, I doubt it will ever be published.
I find the continuing lies in the Western Media re The White Helmets quite sickening. I assume most people including most of the politicians believe it, either through propaganda, brainwashing, repetition or functional brain death. There is no point in arguing with them, and there is no point in voting for any of them, when they can’t tell the truth about anything important, or have any moral substance or integrity.

Excusez-moi but (on the assumption that the picture is an accurate representation of the area where Le Mesurier fell) the photograph is cropped at the roof above the semi- barred window and that pointy-headed structure labelled “Kozde Kahve” and that part of the roof might be significant. We cannot see if there is a balcony structure on the roof above the semi-barred window.
The neighbouring window with the lattice structure in front of it on the left-hand side of the photo has a balcony structure on the roof, presumably to prevent falls if someone ventures out onto the roof. That could be possible: in some parts of the Middle East and Turkey also, people may sleep or relax on the roof. There have been reports of fatal rooftop falls of people sleeping on roofs in parts of Turkey.

Derek, Yes, I know, it is possible to kill yourself, when sitting down, and missing the chair – or break you hip – which can lead to the same thing, if you are lucky enough to get very old or frail. The last time I was in Turkey in the old town of Side’ about 15 years ago, it was very hot. All the people were very nice. The children played in the streets without worry. However it was 3:00 am, and I couldn’t sleep. My wife and I had no air conditioning. We will not know for sure how James le Mesurier died until an autopsy is carried out and the coroner’s report is made public. The body needs to be properly identified as his as well. At this point in time, suicide seems to be the most obvious cause of death. Le Mesurier was apparently on anti-depressant medication (the poor fellow 🙁 ) and had taken sleeping tablets before going to bed. Some time later he went up to the balcony. His body is found later by people going to a mosque early in the morning who notify the police.
