Breaking Up With Fear and Conformity

Tessa Lena

Data’s rotten,
Tests are toast.
News is sullen,
Coast to coast.

Feudal darkness
Here and now!
To the masters
Peasants bow.

Facts are fiction,
Love is screen.
Gossip’s trending,
Trends are mean.

Hear, hear,
Where’s the joy?
Ask Alexa.
She’ll annoy.

This is a breakup letter. I am breaking up with fear.

Farewell, my clean and proper friends. I’ve had enough. I am not interested in your scarecrows and rules of good behavior.

I did my time inside the cage, and now I intend to breathe.

Your air is stale with gossip and anxiety. It’s suffocating. It’s low on oxygen. I can’t.

Your safe space is for crippled animals.

I feel bad for you but I don’t owe you self-abuse.

I really can’t do this anymore. I tried and tried and tried—but my fear is no more, and it’s time to say good bye. It’s not me, it’s you. The heroes you pray to insist that I betray my heart and intellect. I can’t do that. I am not a slave. You do it if you want but you have to let me be.

Perhaps I’ve never belonged in the cage of good behavior. Perhaps, I’ve always been unshackled.

This world is full of love and beauty.

This world does not belong exclusively to you or whomever has hurt you and made you proudly, complacently obedient.

You are not the owner of everyone’s descriptions of things and ways to think. My relationship with language, with the mystery of life and with the physical world around us is important to my heart, and you don’t have any say in that.

Thus, your influence over my language is over. Your convictions and hangups have nothing to do with me.

So please do what’s best for you, and I’ll do the same, with love and hope for truth. I wish you well, and I am not scared of your ghosts.

If I can be of help to you in a dignifying way that doesn’t require my self-betrayal, I am around with all good vibes. Just don’t hate me for not kneeling before your fears.

I feel like a kid again, free from adult confusions, curious about everything, attracted to freedom and aliveness, and drawn to my fellow travelers whose spirits are pure and whose minds are interesting.

Please spare me the shaming and the boring Pravda-like clichés, they won’t convince me, they will only prolong the agony of parting.

I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life. Farewell.

We’ll meet again.

It’s all good, and it’s a fare-thee-well to our friends and family who demand fear and conformity when that is unnatural for us, feeds the vampires, and weakens us as we go into the time of struggle.
It’s hard when people I have been friends with over 40 years, who have long enjoyed my useful news collections, and my dear cousins, who I’ve known all my life, are saying they have to disconnect from the information I am digging up, because it now only comes in lower social status vehicles, vehicles that Snopes says are disinformation sites.
All of the respectable sites wont post/publish stories about the CIA vote rigging of US elections being done in Germany, which Wikileaks released Tuesday.
You heard, right? https://www.johndayblog.com/2020/11/computers-weaponize-truth.html

Hello! Didn’t you get the memo, Tessa? Fearlessness is not allowed in the Brave New 1984 Animal Farm World our overlords have in store for us. You better get back to obeying and taking the happy pills or you’re going to find yourself banished to a hyper Gaza Strip on the perimeters of our Panopti-conned cities.
Now you don’t want that, do you?

Two years ago, German comedian Herbert Feuerstein recorded
an obituary for his own death on tape, which has now been rele-
ased: “I am dead now. But you’ll be the next, then we’re square!”
Funny to the grave. Well, 83 is not a bad age for a dignified exit.

The “Marlboro Man” carries off 300,000 Germans a year (including many of my family and friends). That is 3 million in ten years. Not to mention “fast food”. Has America ever had to pay recourse for this invention? The most perverse thing is that this system earns the earth from tobacco tax alone. But “Corona” is a threat to humanity!

Incarnation of enlightenment. Not of this world. Also a kind of escapism and unreachability? Or is he only “severely traumatized” according to today’s concepts, and his dream world just a “psychic defense mechanism” of another kind?

Well, he doesn’t need to care what others think of it. Everyone looks for his niche. I have translated the (very good) preface to his book “The Mental of the Cells” for you. “An amazing wanderer. The true journey leads inside.” https://textuploader.com/1pmdc

The “trick” is not to write a “feelings log”
about what I was annoyed with again to-

it. This will increase my positive insights.

In this context it’s important to point out the hidden
intelligence of the plants that we so carelessly des-
troy. It is not we who seek them, but they seek us
out. This even goes so far that the best medicinal
plants settle in the surroundings of sick people.

Plants rejoice in the fact that they can serve
us as food and oxygen suppliers. Indigenous
peoples have always known this, we with our
cursed consumerism have to learn this again.

A positive attitude to life also means not to disparage other people for their way or lifestyle in order to prove oneself superior. It is enough to give them well-meaning advice. One could ask a heavy smoker for example, what is written as a warning on his cigarette box?

Resistance is not futile

‘ a bill confirming MI5’s right to let informants commit crimes.
Keir Starmer wanted his party to abstain on the security bill but the Socialist Campaign Group led by the party’s former leader Jeremy Corbyn defied the whip and voted against it – the second rebellion in less than a fortnight.’

Fight! JC is not going away and there are a score more like him in the PLP.

Regardless of the mindless Groaniad tarbrushing as ‘Socialist’ code for Anti Patriotic’ because they can’t use AS.

Starmers true colours daily shine as he feels free to abandon his ‘socialist’ skin – having served its purpose- to remove a real alternative to the status quo.

The ex DPP approves criminal acts by the state! A fine PM he will make and great example for law abiding statesman

So far as I can tell, things are getting back to normal, at least where I live. There are a hell of a lot more cars on the road than normal, and only a few stupid people are wearing masks in them, whilst driving alone, and only do so when walking to the pub or restaurant with their masks round their necks as if its a symbol.

I do not know of any two people who have fought each other over who wears The Mask – but it would probably make a great video for teenage kids who do these things – faking it with a bit of drama (including fake red blood).

I know your tricks. First you write a story board – mainly with drawn images with a pencil and a piece of paper – and you show your friends. You don’t write the words down yet. You ask your friends – well what would you say?

Parents are not invited, but you might get away with borrowing their camera and sound kit, particularly as they are away on holiday for the next 10 days

You surrender your name and details every time you visit any pub, restaurant, or public event, why should they make you wear masks? they have already humiliated & subjugated you more than they could have ever hoped possible. Maybe when google find out you write here, they will sentence you to unlimited house arrest.

Didn’t quite get to the hospital today. The traffic was horrendous, mainly due to “roadworks” with traffic lights red on both, and even three sides at the same time.

I said you’d better run for it love, or you are going to be late.

So she did, and got there on time for her Appointment.

She overheard some school kids saying, as she flew past.

Why is that Lady Running?

The NHS Doctor said, yeh it’s a bit of a problem, but I really would not recommend an operation at this stage – and she showed her how to treat the problem with massage. She said it will probably get better by itself, but if it gets worse – phone this number. Do not go to Your GP. Speak to Me… and I will arrange another appointment quickly – it won’t take 6 months of cancelled appointments(like it had)

Some NHS Doctors are Class.

Its the Bureaucrats and Their Computers that are Rubbish.

Fire them, and Train some more Doctors and Nurses – here in the UK, and get some kid to write some decent software – rather than the crap you have got from a multinational enormous corporate – Let me guess ….ermm. I do know these people. The smaller companies with just a few young people are the best. They are a hell of a lot cheaper too, and their stuff works.

I watched ‘V for Vendetta’ the other night after not having seen it for years. The film is 15 years old now, and the graphic novel it was based on was created in the ’80s. Amazingly prescient, what with the storm troopers that resemble the police these days, and the MSM as poodle of the government to constantly remind people that the curfew is for their safety, your neighbour could be your enemy etc.
Why there’s even a virus, and a vaccine that only the government possesses, and an uplifting moment at the end of the film where all the citizens remove their masks after walking through the troops that don’t fire on them – because there’s no authority ordering it. Shades of Berlin, 1989!
Meanwhile, in Australia, a pregnant woman at the beach, who strayed more than 3 km from home (how did they find that out?), is dragged off to jail by a half-dozen police after having a mask forcibly fitted to her. They seem to be going after pregnant women down there (and they do seem to put up a real fight!); other videos memorialise similar events – here’s a tip: It’s Bad PR!

“ You ( all of us ) are a child of the universe.
No less than the trees and the stars.
You have a right to be here.”
Desiderata
The ultimate “ divide and rule “ has been the division between what “they” would have us believe we are and what we actually are.
During these desperate times we get to know ourselves a little better.
What’s really important to us.
What our core beliefs are.
And through forums such as this, we find we are not alone.
This is important stuff.
We are heartened in our resolve.
Far from becoming aloof, we become a part of the solution.
We turn fear into strength.
Confusion into clarity.
Ignorance into understanding.
Despair into hope.
Hate into love.
Tyranny into peaceful co-existence.

One more sickening thing about all this is that our new “authorities” think they are controlling the world, when, in fact, they are severing all natural and organic ties with it.
These are the people who can watch Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty”, and think that Maleficent is the best ever role model, or who can play a game like “The Elder Scrolls Online”, and think that Mannimarco (“I will be A GOD!”) is just wonderful…
They really should have in mind that Maleficent, witchcraft or no, ended up very dead, and Mannimarco had to endure an eternity of excruciating torture…
Okay, I understand that being the richest people in the world might have a few nice aspects to it,, but when you get so bored with luxury life that the only thing you can think of to relieve that boredom is to play sick games with the whole of mankind, then you really need to look at yourself in the mirror. You have become Satan.
Very nice of you, I’m sure…

Very rich people also have fears, perhaps more than most of us: for example, are their friends merely goldiggers and sycophants? Prince Philip fears massive overpopulation, famously saying that, were reincarnation real, he’d like to return as a deadly virus to wipe out the excess. Attenborough similarly fears approaching ecosystemic collapse, and blames humans for ruining nature. Gates shares both fears, and is mortivated by them. That’s why he invested so heavily in birth control programmes for the developing world, and also why he now concentrates on developing vaccines. Gates learnt from science that, if poor mums think their first-born kids won’t die as they so often did in the unvaccinated past, then they usually have far fewer babies overall. Save the children or save us from the children, Bill?

The Bill Gates who has bought the WHO and is pretending that it is some sort of government organisation – amazingly, politicians still take notice of the WHO. Why would they do that?

If it smells like corruption, lokks like corruption, walks like corruption, farts like corruption, it is not philanthropy.

Publicly funded recreation and the clerking profession were among the first causalities of the Global reset . Those activities and jobs will not return. Recreation will be strictly for profit and increasingly expensive , while clerking and waitressing will become wholly automated except in elite milieus in the near future . A few security people and techs will be their replacements . Global delivery systems and truck drivers are now being targeted in this ongoing process of cost cutting through automation in the name of efficiency.

It’s as if all of humanity’s insanity and fear is rising to the surface all at once, so we can take a look at it in the mirror and once and for all, and as the poem and article invites us… To say goodbye to it.

As far as the surrendering your name and phone number in restaurants go, it’s easy enough to just write down any fake name and number on the sheet of paper…. An opportunity to have some fun and be creative… Would be handy to have the number of certain politicians… Everywhere i go to now, such as the dentist today, people serving the public are having to constantly repeat the script like an automated telephone answering bot.

I don’t like modern day restaurants and eating facilities populated by mass man and the consumerist zombies anyway, they are noisy and vulgar, and these days they are also already addicted to their vulgar phones. I have a hunch that the elites and authorities don’t have much respect for them either… Yeah, ‘the people’ are gonna find out that some people are just way more intelligent than them, something of a difference of another planet.., though they will never know. So who will protect the freedom of this petty slave devoid of intellect?

Nobody is complaining about the handing over of names in restaurants. Who the fuck do they think they are, how dare they demand my name! What is wrong with people are they stupid, do they not know what this means.

Are we the fallen?

A bonfire of the vanities (Italian: falò delle vanità) is a burning of objects condemned by authorities as occasions of sin.

Anthony Fauci takes this very seriously. He is, after all, educated a Jusuit and an alumnus of the College of the Holy Cross, class of ‘62.

The bonfire is intended to consume objects that might tempt one to sin, including vanity items such as mirrors, cosmetics, fine dresses, playing cards, and even musical instruments.

Dr Fauci has decided that it is time to get rid of anything that fails to conform to his idea of health. He has decided that humanity is broken; people are asymptomatic carriers — you are healthy but we are going to assume that you are fallen.

His next step is to burn the books, burn the yard, to tell you not to sing. This 15th century tyrant is saying I’m going rob humanity of one of its greatest attributes, that of joy and celebration and singing, because I’m holding out the possibility that 95% of people who are healthy need to be treated as if they are broken.

We are less advanced than 800 years ago when Henry III signed The Charter of the Forest of 1217, restoring the right of people to wander freely through the forests that had been closed off by William the Conqueror and his heirs.

I call Snowden out as a fraud and a CIA stooge, whose job is to exaggerate US technological abilities. He is a fear monger, working for the CIA.
And I have proof, he is just talking up and exaggerating the CIA’s capacity to spy and track the worlds population. And the proof is that they are now forcing everyone in the UK and around Europe to surrender telephone numbers and names to cafes and bars in a transition to the CIA’s google and Apple surveillance apps.
That means they never had the information before, it was a big lie, they cannot locate you, they cannot listen to you, and they cannot track who you get close to. Just like the moon landings were devised to exaggerate the capacity of the USA to instil fear in their enemies. Up to now all the talk of US spying capacities was lies. If they had the capacity they would have just switched it on and justified it as part of the emergency. We overestimate the USA’s technological abilities especially at a time when their military are falling behind Russia and Chine in terms of cutting edge technology.

Congratulations on finding a site that doesn’t censor.
Your comment, however, leaves a lot to be desired…
Like the devil, you mix truth in with the lies to confuse us [“The Exorcist”], so that what you say about the moon landings, for example, does actually stand up to scrutiny, but the idea that the authorities cannot locate you in 2020 is utter tosh, unworthy of any informed person.
Then, to cap it all, you really embarrass yourself with your Cold War rhetoric about Russia and China,as if it was still 1950…
There are other sites where you might feel much more at home. Why don’t you try those?

I have no reason to insult you. It’s simply a natural reply to a false narrative, which, frankly, insults the intelligence of informed people here. One has to wonder how it is possible to say what you do about surveillance, when people who have already experienced it happening have documented it in some detail.
Presumably you wish to undermine what Snowden has contributed, but you need to realize that it is perfectly possible to accept much of what he says without necessarily buying absolutely everything. One still uses one’s eyes, ears and common sense.
For the record, my opinions and views are challenged every day, and I’m completely used to it. I have no horses in this race. I just want the facts straight, not distorted.
I suspect that for you, “getting warmer” means succeeding in winding somebody up to the point where they say something you can feel insulted by.
Tough luck. I’m certainly not “wound up”, and I have plenty of good company in that too.
You might post a couple of links to the CIA’s utter impotence when it comes to spying on us, and perhaps I’ll change my mind about your comment.
No sweat. You can try it if you like. Or not.
If you have anything to offer, I’m interested.

David Martin makes a strong case that Covid — both the ‘disease’ and the ‘vaccine’ — is nothing less than a financial scam by organized crime.

Fauci’s promotion of Moderna is open and shut. It’s a double unicorn. Not only has Moderna never made a profit — it’s never made a successful product. So why is the head mafiosi promoting it?

There’s your answer. The pharmaceutical industry has owned the politicians and the media for decades. The drugs industry has bought our democracy.

Even the MSM can’t ignore the stunning fraud called Moderna:
Inside Moderna: The Covid Vaccine Front-Runner With No Track Record and an Unsparing CEO – WSJ, Jul 1, 2020

The upstart hasn’t yet developed an approved drug, its chief can be excoriating and until recently investors were disillusioned. A breakthrough coronavirus vaccine could come in trials starting this month.

I think the most salient point is made at approximately 43:25. Quote: “It’s important to separate a couple things. This is not communism, or fascism, or socialism, or capitalism, this is criminal conspiracies.”

Readers need to listen to Mr Martin’s follow up comments and suggestions regarding civil actions against unlawful activities by corporate controlled operatives and police.
.
Lock downs and criminal assaults against civilian populations are actions taken under Color of Law. “Color of law” refers to an appearance of legal power to act that may operate in violation of law. See complete definition.

Resolution (not revolution) will take world wide commitments to justice and civil liberties.

It’s important to recognize this kleptocracy — we have to identify it accurately so we can fight it.

Surveillance is an industry and the military and Google-Amazon-Facebook-Microsoft work together for profit.

They have a financial interest in maximum surveillance and control.

More than two-thirds of the intelligence apparatus of the NSA, CIA and the military is privatized or run by contractors. The security state is “just business” but it is rigged, insider trading, no bid contract, revolving door, crooked consultant -type business. Thus it is organized crime.

The military and police are enforcers for organized crime.

The distinction is important. Corporatism is fascism. New Normal is fascism. However, the motive is profit rather than ideology.

That tells you what’s going to happen to Britain’s NHS, for example.

MASKERS

The Poser.
Wears the latest hi tech version with external filter and conspicuous brand name. Mask is sleek and subtly patterned and matches his “look at me” wardrobe.

The Fearful
Wears the standard blue version. Eyes move constantly left to right looking for fellow conformists and reassurance that it’s all normal. Veers quickly away from unmasked humans. Addicted to MSM “news”.

The Clubber
Wears the fluorescent highly conspicuous mask with added slogan like “Fk It”. Mask sometimes worn beneath the nose for that more laid back cool dude look.

The Avenger
Wears the big all black mask accompanied by matching black shades. Compliments this with black jacket and hood always worn up to give that ominous “Terminator” appearance.

The Virtuous
Wears the “sensible” type mask with reinforced straps and tightly fitting all round protection guaranteed. Strides out confidently in the knowledge that it’s the “right thing” to do and others should be following the same behaviour pattern.

The Survivor
Wears the home made type mask generally any old undergarment cut up roughly and secured with a big knot at the back of the neck. Always appears laden with provisions from the supermarket to add to the survival stockpile at home. Never misses the latest “Breaking News” bulletins.

Zombies were created by the CIA to dehumanise the increasing numbers of poor, homeless and desperate who lived on the streets and in derelict buildings of the USA. So that they would not be seen as normal people who just became victims of a very brutal cruel unfair system.
They knew they would grow in numbers, given the increased exploitation, so to avoid the sympathies of the general population increasing towards them and the growth of socialism to save them, they turned them into demons and monsters in the publics minds.
Rather than making them the heroes of socialist struggle they have made them cannon fodder in children’s computer games.

All youngsters are now blind to the social injustice at the heart of their system and identify the homeless as monsters, rather than victims.

Seeing how the 0077-Gee can’t even keep up its pretend reason for existence- being a critic of the On-G , with the casual abandonment of its rare ‘weekly’ Groan watch article – I’ll do it.

The Groan moves effortlessly between gaslighting Trump and Assad

I see there is a new campaign launched by the Groan against the ailing potus – multiple articles , almost as if it was trying to influence US VOTERS ! The campaign seems wholly ii/77 latest playbook.

Is such foreign influence allowed? Maybe the Editors and journos should be indicted and renditioned straight into a secure faculty like Gitmo! Kept in isolation and then secretly trialed and imprisoned for a 175 years!

Viner should be worried- it’s not as if she hasn’t had a chance of protecting the freedom of the Press! the handful of her agent prestitute gimps too.

If Trump survives the great postal ballot fraud – many a DS shitheads will be heading for exile and hideaways, as they become ‘Wanted’ by a cleaned up FBI and their CIA is finally dismantled.

Even as the poor secret service agents apparently claim :
“.. As recently as Friday, Secret Service agents were expressing their anger at how Trump’s perceived recklessness was placing them at risk.
“He’s never cared about us,” one agent told a confidant..”

……

The Groan doesn’t give up on Syria Campaign now that the Fukus headchoppers are almost annihilated (by being sent to Libya and Azerbaijan to be liquidated)

Apparently the Groan claims there is NO BREAD in Syria because Assad has been bombing ‘his people’ (not proxy invaders) – before admitting a long way into the teary bullshit story :

“Bread is a complex commodity in Syria, where wheat production has fallen from 4.1m tons before the 2011 revolution to 2.2m in 2019. Today, the majority of the country’s wheatfields are still under the control of separatist Kurds.”

(That’ll be the Turds who are helping steal the Oil for US companies? Whilst being betrayed to the Turks?)

Before ending with a disappearing up their own arseholes with :

“Russia is withholding wheat shipments in order to pressure the government into engaging with a UN-backed peace aiming to draw up a new constitution.”

They just make it up!!! McKernan and her gimp Syrian stringer.

How dare they !
Subsidising bread, shows their utter contempt for the free market
What’s the point of applying sanctions, burning grain fields and seizing oil fields if they’re just going to subsidize the prices ?
After defeating an attempted revolution, pushing back the rebel military, exposing the lies used as an excuse to bomb them and securing the support of the only military power that has proved to be effective in this theatre it’s only logical, it stands to reason that now they should agree to having their leadership replaced and a new constitution dictated to them.

Let me guess, the world Bank etc give loans to ‘rebuild the economy using Western companies and all the nations assets to be privatised to pay off the IMF loans ?
Obviously rampant inflation, that goes without saying to destroy pentions savings and fuel, bread and other staples sold at unsubsidized prices on a black/freemarket for US Dollars.
Or
Bump off some American troops so the bring the boys home brigade kick off (with plausible deniability obviously).
Get the Kurds on your side by offering some autonomy, and get Putin to spank some Turkish ass.
Maybe even the Saudis could be used to eliminate that troublesome Turk.
If that’s your choices, go the way of Saddam or Gaddafi, or fight back what would you do ?

This is the great awakening. It would never have happened without us first confronting the Gates of Hell.

Single issue voting: ask candidates, “how do you feel about mandated vaccines?” If they say “I’m not sure”, then: next.

Form pods to prepare to refuse the untested poison, especially attempts to force it upon children with their vulnerable, still-developing bodies and brains.

Keep a close eye on teachers. Know what’s going on when they’re behind the school gates.

Picket the politicians and remind them about the Tuskegee experiment. Make them know that they’ll go first – to the public clinic, not the special one for politicians.

I’m in Utah/USA, which is a conservative state. I became anti-vax in the last few years through learning about the HPV vaccine that my daughter was supposed to get this year as a condition of entering middle school. I was prepared to battle with a doctor about not wanting her to get any more vaccines, but to my surprise, that was not the case. I talked to two offices and the receptionists at least, were accepting of my stance over the phone. I never ended up taking her to the doctor because I found online that this state only requires you to take a 20 minute online video training, then you can print out an exemption paper, check off which vaccines your child is exempt from and the reason(s) why (personal, medical, or religious). I took the printed certificate to the school prepared for anything, but I was met with a smile and a “thank you” by the school secretary.

Based on the comments on my local news site, I think that many people have become even more anti-vax now than before. The propaganda articles about vaccines seem even more desperate and anti-vax comments appear more vehement and numerous to me. Do you think “they” have accounted for this in their mass vaccination plans? I worry that ignorant people (like some of my siblings) will blindly go along and get the vaccines, and then be injured. But “they” know that only the most ignorant and uninformed people will go along, and they are ok with that. So I guess I’m just saying that based on what’s happening in my state, I do not currently fear anyone breaking my door down to jab my kid. Residents here are well-armed and a growing chunk are anti-vax. My sisters though, will jab their kids to death willingly and never understand why they are so unhealthy. For the people behind the vaccines, it’s enough for them to snag only the most blind and obedient among us.

Sidenote: My daughter has told me a few friends had to leave during the first few days of school to get what they call their “cancer vaccine” (the HPV vaccine).

Only now did I check out the author of the text, and I’m happy to have found out that she is a fellow musician, fellow ethnomusicologist, and a fellow strongly opinionated person. Also, although I’m Russian, I originally come from a country that was a part of the communist bloc, and, having grown up under a regime reminiscent of what the PTB are now foisting on the world, I can appreciate the value of freedom and the nefarious nature of the things that are being shoved down our throats.

One thing that bothers me to no end is that just about none of the people, including musicians, artists – save for a few notable exceptions – who have built their careers on an image of rebellion, free spirit, etc. have had the cojones to stand up and call out this crock of shit. To use their popularity to raise public consciousness, to instigate some fighting spirit in people.

Too scared shitless that YT would delete their videos I guess …

Anyway, happy to have discovered Tessa Lena!

Sadly, for the most part, you are right: the artsy types have, as a rule, not proven to be particularly helpful in this case. A few honorable exceptions would be Van Morrison and Ian Brown (formerly of the Stone Roses), but that’s all I know of at the moment.

I assume that the guitar was masked, too– you know, wrapped around the body beneath the strings to cover the sound hole.

After all, surely the soundwave-propelled air emerging from the guitar superspreads particles of the Megadeath Virus of Doom!

I just now remembered that this snark isn’t original. A while back I saw a video promoting new MVD-blocking covers for wind instruments; I only watched a few seconds, but it looked like a high school band practice.

The horns– including a tuba, IIRC– were shrouded in bags of fabric. I presume the spit valves are now connected to tubing that leads to a medical-waste container. Words like “grotesque” and “pathetic” come to mind.

In defense of Artists (Musicians, Poets, Painters, Sculptors):

Artists interpret the world and express what they see, feel or hear in a symbolic, metaphorical, abstract, surreal, or other unique, imaginative way — they are somehow inspired by the world to express something — so when the world is greedy, hateful, chaotic, unhealthy, stupid and corrupt, and people are just going along to get along then there is no inspiration, only sadness and watching and waiting.

…none of the people, including musicians, artists – save for a few notable exceptions – who have built their careers on an image of rebellion, free spirit, etc. have had the cojones to stand up and call out this crock of shit. To use their popularity to raise public consciousness, to instigate some fighting spirit in people.

You have it backwards (or you’re thinking of “Commercial Artists”, Advertising & Propaganda):

“Fine” Artists — the kind I think you mean — in order to create art about people, need people to inspire them.

Bob Dylan didn’t inspire Civil Rights protests in the ’60s; rather, Civil Rights protestors inspired him to write songs about the people and the struggle.

Picasso painted Guernica … at the request of the Spanish Nationalists. Upon completion, Guernica was exhibited at the Spanish display at the 1937 Paris International Exposition, and then at other venues around the world. The touring exhibition was used to raise funds for Spanish war relief. The painting soon became famous and widely acclaimed, and it helped bring worldwide attention to the Spanish Civil War.” -Wikipedia: Guernica (Picasso)

So… C’mon people: Inspire!

Nice of you to patronize me as to what I have backwards, forwards, sideways, or in who knows what direction. FYI, I’ve dedicated to art my entire life.

Artists create art for all sorts of reasons; your assertion that “they need people to inspire them” is patently wrong. It might be the case with some, but it doesn’t apply universally.

I dare say that one thing that unites all artists, no matter what their source of inspiration, motivation, whatever, is FREEDOM. True art, as opposed to entertainment, is about exploring the unknown, using innovative techniques, seeing beyond the horizon. Freedom is paramount for being able to do that.

Hence, if freedom is threatened, one would expect artists to be the first ones to object, to take a stand.

To give you the benefit of the doubt, I’d go as far as acknowledging your viewpoint. Nonetheless, if purported artists not only don’t stand up to injustice, oppression, but also acquiesce to it, or worse still, tacitly support it, I say that they’re full of shit and their “art” is garbage.

“Fine” Artists — the kind I think you mean in order to create art about people, need people to inspire them.

Do art however you want but if you want to engage politically with it — as seems to be your earlier rebuke to artists — I imagine it won’t inspire if it’s not inspired.

Otherwise, just make art for art’s sake.
Or, be a protestor instead.
You can’t do both (that would be like a photojournalist staging photos).

My apologies for phrasing that offended; no offense (patronization) intended.

What you write is so full of meaningless statements, “create art about people” (sic) – what is “about people” supposed to mean?, subjective assumptions “I imagine it won’t inspire if it’s not inspired” – what is “inspired”?, false dichotomies “be (an artist) or a protestor instead”, false analogies – “like a photojournalist staging photos”, that I’m finding it nearly impossible to respond in a meaningful way.

Music is a performing art – whether in the sense of “art” per se or entertainment – and under the present circumstances, musicians and other performing artists are banned from practicing their art, or craft, if you will. I certainly would expect some opposition, instead of tacit acquiescence if not militant support in some cases, particularly in the popular subcultures that represent such values as freedom, rebellion, nonconformity, an alternative. For many of these subcultures are not so much about “art” as such (Bob Dylan didn’t create music “art”, his music was primitive and brought no technical innovation, which is one factor that defines a work of art, i.e. Bach’s fuga is a work of art but a fuga composed today in Bach’s style would not be; Dylan’s art lies in his poetry) as about the concepts they represent.

Also, all of the above notwithstanding, I would expect members of any profession to oppose when an oppressor bans them from practicing it.

Thank you!! And I so hear you on this one! I am amazed that many artists and intellectuals, including the ones who are brave and outspoken about other issues, are not speaking out about this one at all, as if this is “perfectly normal.” It’s killing me to think about it but I do think that a little bit of time will pass and they will arrive at the same conclusions I did, from the inside, and join in. That is my hope, at least, and hopefully it won’t non be entirely too late then, which is also a possibility.

My theory is that one has to have certain personal experiences in order to see clearly, and the ones who haven’t had those experiences prior to now simply don’t know how to process the situation, and therefore they default to “rational explanations, ” etc. I hope this deer-in-the-headlight state is temporary and a lot more people will realize what’s being attempted.

And thank you again! Here is a small exchange about artists and intellectuals specifically.

Tessa Lena, some of us have been trying from last March, and we have come across terrible obstacles. Direct clashes with our friends and colleagues to begin with. It has not been easy to get over that. In my personal case, I was at the time still trying to get over the death (nothing to do with covid) of the person I was closest to, and hence it all added up. It seems I wasnt the only one who was contacted by let us say rather disturbing characters, who may be in the pay of the government of the country I live in or a foreign one, or of some corporate.
I could continue recounting the saga of my life these last months. As a writer and
an amateur musician, I feel my life has totally plunged into another dimension: some of us may have taken stands on other issues before, but until these events, you never lost your footing, it didnt become surreal.
It may be the country I live in is far gone into not just a dystopia, but has the least number of what some call intellectuals who have spoken up, and hence any opposition is “underground” rather than being led by them, so that here the handful of us, are more vulnerable: I am not saying that people are not upset, but most are afraid of doing anything because of the absence of a leadership from what are considered the educated middle classes (as there is, for instance in Germany). Pure grassroot movements can much more easily be subverted.

I have been trying since March or April as well!! (here is from April about the absurdity of trying to steal away the physical world from us) So I am feeling you.

Which country are in? I am in New York. It’s not too bad here comparing to what I hear about Australia or the UK, especially because I know that no lies last, and there will be a day when liars will be laughed out of the room (because it ALWAYS happens, even it it takes forever… this really gives me hope).

But art the same time, holy crap. Touching another person is suddenly an act of rebellion… in what world, seriously.

New York is not so bad. It was bad in spring, lots of chaos and confusion. Now, so far, it’s okay. People are going about their lives as much as they can. There is music in the parks, too, although unofficially. Music venues are trying to save themselves by pretending to be restaurants while it’s still warm, that is heartbreaking for obvious reasons. Well, okay, things are not amazing but tolerable comparing to what I read about Australia, for example.

Im in France. Yes. I met yesterday for the first time since the affair begun in March the first like-minded human being in real life. We were just so much in need of this, it was incredible. We both are in touch with one or two elsewhere but only through the virtual world of the internet.

It became cold, but after still 4 hrs, we kept talking and talking…
When we eventually left the cafe (that was yesterday, as of today they have closed all the cafes), it was funny, because she suddenly said, lets hug even though its banned! I actually didnt know it was banned.
For 5 months I hadnt touched a human being, I can tell you that I was just craving for a human touch!

Her brother is a surgeon and he is completely in the narrative, yet apparently he actually told her that the covid beds in his hospital had always been empty.

She’s a journalist. And I learnt another interesting fact from her:
that Xi had called the pandemic by a Chinese term that had been translated in the foreign press as demon”. However in Chinese (or Mandarin I think),
the same term means foreign”. She had checked this with a Chinese contact from inside China. And indeed what Xi had meant was that it was a foreign created pandemic, i.e. he had thought it was bioweapon used by US.
This is why he immediately locked down Wuhan but didnt touch any other city. Russia’s reaction was also due to the same fear.

She now works independently, but until about 5 years ago was part of one of the major French media. She explained how in the newsrooms, all the journalists just conform, and are comforted in their beliefs by one other, its like a group-think I guess. Also she said journalists are not well-paid and their jobs are insecure, so they’re afraid also to say anything different.

On top of this, she said here in France, whether journalist or anyone else, they dont know how to search the internet, dont speak any English, and how absolutely no foreign news is filtering in the country. So for instance, its unknown what the situation is in Australia, NZ, or anywhere else…

There was only one site that was covering some of the foreign news this spring. Then it on the whole stopped doing so: I kept sending it information, which it never published. Now anyhow the site has closed down (I mean its still there, but not active), and probably, according to her, it was a site meant to identify dissenters… Its interesting because it confirmed my own experience with it. She said probably some people were getting to be concerned what the aim of the site was, and hence the person behind disappeared. So Tessa, you see here in France, we’re in poor shape…

A neighbour rang the door bell yesterday, with his mask up to his eyes.
Yet he’d told me in the spring he did not believe in all this… But he’d also said, he will always follow the law, whatever the law is. Couldnt explain to him that the change in the laws amounts to a coup d’etat.
Its really like because the law requires them to, the people are agreeing to commit suicide (wearing the mask is bad for health, and there are going to be new illnesses in 2-3 years as a result and a rise in cancers, because the material is synthetic, and the fibers get detached and you breathe them, and they go to your lungs, this is on top of the CO2, and Oxygen issues. The masks worn by medical teams for operations are made of organic cotton)…

May I ask what instrument you play? What type of music?
Thanks for your beautiful article

Wow, Annette. Your comment is so moving. I read it yesterday, and I am still thinking about it. I didn’t know it was that bad in France, I thought it was better over there than in NYC. In NYC you can hug people (I think). I can’t believe I just typed the last sentence, it is absurd.

You know, the physical world will prevail, there is no doubt. It really is the only one we have, and no amount of lying can change that fact.

I hear you. I grew up in a Second World country before defecting westward, and during my young years I could see that the establishment plotted against people. Living under an oppressive regime was a reality.

People in the First World, or the West, don’t have that experience. Most would probably acknowledge that politicians are crooks, that governments don’t necessarily serve people’s interests, but few are ready to cross the line in their mind and admit that the supposedly democratic government is now turning into a totalitarian one, that democracy, or the illusion thereof, is actually being openly converted into a police state. People opt for a “rational explanation” because the implications of accepting the reality are too much for them to take. It would entail the choice of accepting subjugation or putting up a fight. I don’t think anybody is ready for the latter, and there is always that “rational explanation” for the former. Plus, there are all sorts of other factors at play.

Anyway, glad to have met you. I’ll check out that Twitter page, but I’ve recently quit FB and I’ve resolved to stay away from (a)social media … 🙁 …

I had meant to answer another comment where you had said you are a musician. I am an amateur musician. And there is no one to play with because people are afraid where I am, afraid to be near you. The worst is when people try to tell me they sing or that their orchestral group meets via zoom, and there they are sitting each in their own room… And they call this music. When I first heard that, I felt nauseated. I told the person to stop talking, and asked her whether she did not realise what she was saying, that she had become totally dehumanized. Her calm reply was: I dont see what you have against it, its very enjoyable.

Jacques, sometimes I feel I dont want to be part of this world. Perhaps all of us who are still human should get together in real life. But they are so demonic with their measures, the aim is to prevent us doing so. Its a process that slowly started long ago in academia, dismantling groups that were developing ideas that could rock the status quo: scattering the members round the world, taking away their jobs within the same university, or not renewing their contracts. In one case, very conveniently the main senior academic, actually died: he was not old, without any known health issues according to his family, the road was clear, no cars, yet an accident while driving back home. His crime: developing international law to
promote peace. Its apparently used to justify war.

I wish I could hug you and kiss you on both cheeks. I feel the same, and every time I stumble across a fellow human being like you I feel joy that I’m not alone in this world of soulless people who seem made of plastic, parroting what they’ve been indoctrinated with.

Hang in there, there are many others like you and me. As Tessa Lena said above, maybe it’s the deer caught in the headlights thing, but we must hope and believe that people will wake up and embrace freedom instead of oppression.

Thank you Jacques for your kind reply. Indeed it would be so good to meet one day. It would so good to be able to get rid of these pseudonyms and no longer have to communicate only through the internet. I cant stand the screen at times anymore…

You said you’re from Russia. Prior to all this, I had written an article on Tolstoy’s views of science (his criticism is noteworthy, its amazing how he could actually realise then that science was being distorted and he distinguishes true science from pseudo-science, and on top of it, he wasnt a scientist. Yet his writings on science are totally forgotten. I came across them because I was reading a biography of him by Romain Rolland. And Rolland noted that its was strange that Tolstoy’s criticism being so powerful, no one ever referred to it). And then last year I was invited to give talks on this in some places in Europe. And
its truly sad: I was to have spent August in Yasnaya Polyana, Tolstoy’s domain: I was invited to give a talk there. It was such an honour, and just the idea of being there…
Ive never been to Russia. I was so looking forward to it.

I know what you mean. Getting together and feeling the other person’s presence is incomparable with writing a few lines over the Internet. But there is an upside to communicating online too; it has allowed me to get to know people I would have probably never stumbled across, albeit on a distance basis only.

I’m not Russian. I’m originally from Czechoslovakia but I spent a big chunk in an overseas country, specifically une belle province ou on parle le francais du 17eme siecle … 😉 … I live in Prague now.

Funny you should mention Romain Rolland. My grandfather was a literary critic and journalist, and he was on a friendly basis with Romain Rolland. Do you have a link to your article about Tolstoy?

I don’t know what the future holds for us, whether enough opposition can be mustered up around the world to prevent the worst-case scenario. It’s pretty certain that the world won’t be going back to the old normal – things will change for sure. Who knows how travel will be impacted. But I do hope that we’ll be able to meet one day.

Thats very interesting Jacques about your grandfather having known Rolland. Ive been very influenced by his writings. Unfortunately he passed away decades before I was born! Id like to know more if I may.
Do you have written correspondence or anything your grandfather wrote about Rolland, or something the latter would have sent him?
(if you wish, you can contact me at [email protected] as evidently you wouldnt want to say too much here).

Thank you for your interest.
In fact I have just received the proofs of the article back for correction. It will appear in the Tolstoy Studies Journal” in their Jan. issue which is published from the US. Once a final version is available, if you still are interested I could send it to you.
