Seriously, there are no such things as side effects with any kind of medication. There are effects that may be undesirable in certain circumstances but they are part of the package. There has been a number delusions which I know of. One of them was a rather vague, unquestioning acceptance of the notion of āmental illnessā. Having followed Szaszās arguments in works such as The Myth of Mental Illness, along with reading a variety of opinions on the matter, I concluded that that belief was in error; so I changed the belief.
I have been locked in a house with mental illness while the medical system took a week for institutional treatment. It’s not what you would guess, but I have seen it closely. It is a tragic miswiring, and it is real. Mix it with a psycho tendency and it would be a problem.
And you trust the medical system to classify your experience? As I stated above:

I don’t think highly of most medicine. It can deal somewhat with infection so that acute injuries can be fixed, allowing the body to repair itself. Much of the rest is arrogant voodoo. If 3/4 of medicines were OTC, the stranglehold of doctors would reduce.
My personal understanding for these types of experience is drawn from people like William James (Varieties of Religious Experience), but I think everybody is entitled to form their own understanding. The main problem with the medical system (i.e. psychiatry) is that it is enforced by state coercion and violence. Szasz does a good job of arguing against psychiatry, but in my view, he doesnāt say much of any help with regard to understanding experiences.

My two cents: I teach mathematics; I feel a passion to everything maths. Numbers are important and have very fascinating, sometimes very peculiar properties, patterns and uses in everyday life, and no wonder a lot has been written about numbers ever since the Antiquity.
But that has very little to do (I don’t say it has nothing to do) with taking numbers and combine them in certain ways to arrive to a result and then make a particular interpretation of that result. One reason for that is that from any number you begin with, you can, through certain combinations, arrive at any number you want, so the method is arbitrary to say the least.
If you have the justifications for the kind of operations you use and the order in which you use them I’ll be very interested in knowing them.
