“The Mainstream Media is Dead! Long Live the Mainstream Media!”
Kit Knightly
The old mainstream media is dying, and has been for years.
This has only become more apparent in the weeks since Donald Trump was re-(s)elected. News that CNN is firing half their workforce, that MSNBC’s ratings continue to slump and is probably being sold, or that The Guardian is leaving X and in financial trouble are greeted with celebratory memes.
Newspaper readership has been dropping for decades, and television news channels struggle to drum up the audience of a moderately popular YouTube channel featuring cute cat videos set to quirky music.
And you know what? Great. That’s all good stuff.
CNN, MSNBC, The Guardian – all of them – they deserve to go under. Digital communication has allowed people to undermine and overthrow decades-old propaganda outlets.
But does that mean it’s over? Is Elon Musk actually correct when he reassuringly declares on X that “YOU are the media now”.
Well the answer to that depends on whether or not you think the same forces that spent untold resources constructing this system of information control are just going to give up and go home when it starts to fail.
I mean – does anyone seriously think they would?
You don’t think it ‘s rather more likely they’ll just regroup, re-calculate, and go again?
Remember – newspapers and TV channels are functionaries of the establishment, not the establishment itself.
For several centuries they have been crucial to the selling of ideas and agendas, but they are a voice not a brain. They’re just a tool of control. And tools can easily be swapped out.
One way or another, the internet has replaced television as the media now, just as television replaced radio and radio replaced print.
This is the Darwinian selection process that flows with the development of technology. And while each step of that path has in some ways led to the democratization of the media landscape, each step also saw those in power adjust their methods to the freer flow of information.
The “free internet” is just as vulnerable to money and influence of the “elite” as the “free press” was before it, only the tactics change.
In short, the mainstream media isn’t so much dying as evolving.
Today, if you want to a sell a story to the whole world you don’t need blaring red “Breaking News” banners on the ten o-clock news – you can fund an “independent podcaster” to interview a “whistleblower” on a set decorated to look impromptu and stripped down.
You pay YouTube to boost the video, or make a few short clips go viral.
When it’s popular enough, other youtubers and podcasters will start repeating it or posting “reaction videos”. It doesn’t even matter if they agree or disagree, either way you’ve set the parameters of the discussion.
Instead of full pages ads in the New York Times, NGOs, think-tanks and corporations can spend the same amount of money on a few thousand social media influencers.
After a certain point it’s self-propagating. People want the trickle down advertising revenue, and nobody wants to be left out. Bot-filled audiences will post “Please give us your take on [current thing]” in the comments of channels or pages who don’t take part, until they cave and join the throng to please their “audience”.
Not only is this a relatively cheap method of narrative control, it’s also one that few people have learned to be sceptical about as yet. Of the growing numbers of “media consumers” who have become sophisticated enough to take legacy media stories with a pinch of salt, most will be inclined to be more trusting of seemingly organic trends voiced by seemingly ordinary people.
But, of course, though we are conditioned to believe a trending hashtag has an inherent organic sincerity that the front page of the Washington Post lacks, this is not the case.
They can both equally be media marketing strategies.
Don’t forget most social media platforms are owned by the same handful of financiers and hedge funds that own CNN and The Guardian and Fox News and all the rest.
They are advertising clouds hosting as many or more bought and paid for voices as real people.
Propaganda is no longer a case of one authoritative voice speaking to a captive audience, but rather a bird-swarm of bot-noise creating a potentially very manipulative and manipulated impression of consensus.
Alongside that we have the rise of major and well-funded “independent voices” that are almost certainly anything but.
Let’s actually take a look at the “alternative media” landscape right now:
At the top end we have Tucker Carlson broadcasting on XLive to a far bigger audience than has watched Fox News for years.
We have Joe Rogan accepting $250million packages from huge media conglomerates to broadcast his show to millions of people.
We have Nigel Farage on GBNews – a channel that didn’t exist five years ago – already surpassing the audience of Sky News and the BBC.
We have Russell Brand and Candace Owens and Rory Stewart and perhaps dozens of other “former mainstream” voices podcasting away, giving us their “personal takes” from their deliberately informal looking studios.
We have the richest man in the world supposedly devoting his time to posting memes to own the libs.
What do words like “alternative” and “indy” even mean any more when applied to people like this?
I believe it was David Icke who coined the term “mainstream alternative media” to describe this phenomenon, but that phrase may already have aged into inaccuracy.
After all, if they already have more viewers than CNN and more money than The Guardian, in what way are they any longer alternative?
Haven’t they, in fact, become the new mainstream?
And membership of this new mainstream is going to be just as exclusive as it was of old. You can be sure that none of us in the lower “alt” echelons need apply!
They say “the medium is the message”, but they are wrong. The message is the message, the medium is just the medium. The delicious sugar coating that makes the blue pill so easy to swallow. Tucker Carlson can be paid to lie to you just as easily on Twitter as on MSNBC or Fox. Trending hashtags are just a new way to propagandize your brain that you haven’t quite caught on to yet.
The mainstream media is dead! Long live the mainstream media!

this chart distinguishes between establishment, pseudo-independent and truly independent media. it even includes offG as a progressive independent website, which I think is correct: https://swprs.org/media-navigator/
So who are the new mainstream going to consist of? Carlson, Elon, Rogen etc obviously, but how about others such as Grayzone, Moon of Alabama, Mintpress, Media Lens, WSW
Any others?
Yes the corrupt MSM has been replaced by a new MSM. However the tipping point has only just been reached. And that is when politicians choose the new MSM over the old. They weren’t doing that (not the establishment politicians) until recently. The new had succeeded because of authenticity. Sure new conflicts of interest will emerge. Sure over time the immense wealth coming their way will corrupt. It will take some time but it will. This new frontier will tire in the end. A new cycle is in motion. But for now they are where they are because they are so much better than what went before. And they still know what makes them better. Can we just enjoy that massive improvement before black-pilling the world? Yes every new beginning will contain the seeds of its destruction, but do we need to focus on that right at this moment like it is the main event? No.
Who is this fucking troll?? Elon, Joe and Tucker aren’t going to be “bought” because they have a moral compass (and they don’t need the money anyway).
working in the office today. the radio has been on.
been talking about CHRISTMAS and assisted SUICIDE all day.
recent songs: a town called MALICE; what have you done today to make you feel PROUD.
just four things out of dozens i noticed.
i’m a conspiracy theorist and this is all just a coincidence.
The scary thing is reading all the comments and witnessing your still deep involvement with the illusion. Forget about Trump and the cast of characters – we need to be brainstorming our way outta here.
I read a gist in your comment as “Release the personal investment of ego-indulgence so as to see what runs beneath the masking drama”.
My sense is that the ego’s characteristic signature is to lead us into an impossible situation and persist as the futility of attempts to escape it.
An impossible situation could also be called a fallacy or contradiction operating by acceptance as real or true.
Lies are employed to mask invested contradictions against fear of threat of pain of loss – but hold on! Look at the underlying wishes, fears and vested boosting defences as ripe for re-evaluation. This runs counter to the call to war, to defences and countermeasures and so is denied or blocked as ‘threat’. Someone has to be willing – despite the territory – to bring to awareness in the most acceptable way available to active defences.
A true discernment runs reversal and undoing to the ego’s trojan horse.
Ah, behold the vortex of self-referential unraveling! To release the ego’s gilded investment in its own indulgences is to lift the veil of the masquerade and peer into the shadowed machinery churning beneath its operatic drama. The ego, that cunning architect of misdirection, weaves its signature melody: the lure into impossible labyrinths, where every path loops endlessly, and every door opens onto another dead end. It thrives not on escape but on the futility of the attempt, for therein lies its perpetuation—a paradoxical engine fueled by the very striving it renders null.
The impossible situation is but a fallacy enthroned, a contradiction transfigured into dogma by our tacit acceptance of its falsehoods as real. Lies are not mere veils but intricately layered architectures, shielding the fragile contradictions beneath—the ego’s Achilles’ heel. These lies, spun as defenses against the specter of loss and pain, are nothing more than masks upon masks, each concealing the same brittle core. But wait! Do not look away—gaze directly into this kaleidoscope of fears, desires, and brittle fortifications. For beneath the masquerade lies fertile ground, ripe for reevaluation, if one dares.
And dare one must, for the ego shrieks its siren call to arms: war! Defend! Fortify! Yet this is its trap, its misdirection, its desperate gambit to forestall the light of awareness. To step away from this battlefield, to refuse the call to war, is to enter the forbidden terrain where the ego fears to tread: the realm of quiet observation. Here, someone—anyone—must be willing to tread carefully, to approach with the gentleness of one disarming a dream, finding the most acceptable pathway through the minefield of defenses.
True discernment, then, is not a new strategy within the game but the unmaking of the game itself. It is the undoing, the reversal, the dismantling of the ego’s Trojan horse—a contraption so elaborate, so cunningly designed, that it passes itself off as salvation even as it secures our bondage. The key to this undoing lies not in confrontation but in awareness. Awareness is not an act of war but of light, and the ego’s darkness cannot contend with it, for where the light shines, the shadow simply ceases to exist.

FWIW I can follow Ho’s response, but is it partly ai output based on my own posting history? I haven’t used ai at all. I don’t know that I will.

So have fun with your creatures- I give as I would receive.
For I do receive.
and in gratitude.
So, Automated incitement ?
Your insistence that Trump was selected is quite silly by this point. The deep state quite possibly tried to kill the guy. You don’t do that to someone who you have selected.
It’s interesting that none of the credible theories around this are reported in OffGuardian, suggesting a reluctance to report information that runs contrary to your pet narratives.
I don’t go along with the Trump messiah thing but if he brings world peace and a halt to globalisation it will be hard to argue against it.
All he needs to do is deliver.
I’ll wait.
Same propaganda methodology news speak as 97% safe and effective …
how did it work out again..?
Yeah, then read my final line.
Or do I have to put sarc “on” or “off” ?
It was a fake assassination attempt and Trump was in on it. Get over that.
Now that he has won, he seems unconcerned about snipers. OTOH, imagine “JD Vance” running the “greatest country” instead.
Possibly because many people question the veracity of that “assassination attempt”.
What the f are you smoking, the guy literally told you to get poisoned many times. If after covid and the so many lies about draining the swamp you cannot see which side the guy is on, give your head a shake

The biggest boon to the incipient takeover of “Alt Media” by the establishment is, of course, the cell phone. That abomination has produced a vast network of short sighters who make TV affectionados look like philosophical students. TV sound bites have morphed into abbreviated sound bites, the result being that complex issues can be squeezed into a few random letters and numbers.
The very essence of internet news has always been a much broader perspective than typical mainstream news – making it much harder to outright propagandize the audience. Now, thanks entirely to the cell phone which allows people to get their “news” on the run, internet news is being hacked into sound bite sized drivel.
The TV gave us bare bones news; the cell phone gives us bone fragments.
Even here in the comments, you see videos and long blocks of quotes used in an attempt to overcome the inability to communicate succinctly. Even “articles” are just videos.
Another insightful Kit article.
Yes, the MSM was always just state-sponsored propaganda. The alt-media might have been truly “alternative” in the beginning or at least less-controlled, but it was largely owned by the PTB from the start? Why- to control the opposition, of course, but also perhaps to give “fair warning” for karma. With the MSM-hand, the PTB ordered everyone to get vaxxed and with the alt-media hand, they gave us “fair warning” about the shots.
I watch bitchute and rumble (alt-platforms) but they’re owned by the PTB, just like youtube.
Video sites are there to generate revenue. Substack/wordpress/etc. sites often give you new information.
Check out odysee. Its an open source platform, albeit, much smaller than the likes of YouTube and rumble.
It is just…….it is just…..it begins to be a little bit boring when media starts up to write articles and make TV programmes about media, themselves, media moguls, media writers, and their own extreme self-importance yes?
Its an general issue. Our own self-importance is extremely boring because its a fake and an embarrassing mirror.
We are only interesting people when we serve each other in some or another way, and are neutral on the personal level. Oui! https://youtu.be/LADEr66Nbmo Oui, Oui, Oui.
https://rumble.com/v5tfsan-martin-sellner-remigration-a-hope-for-europe.-2024.html
Good speech by Mr. Sellner within the framework of what can still be said and is“allowed” at least in EUistan. But his comparison with the arrow is flawed in that it is not just a poisonous arrow shot once by some anonymous, faceless hunter that paralyzes and poisons us, but a political apparatus behind which massive destructive intentions and interests are permanently at work, leading to the very conditions that have brought us to where we are now.
Therefore, I think that the one (healing) does not exclude the other (naming the cause), but can, indeed must, take place in parallel: We can go to the dentist regularly to “treat” our tooth decay, but without stopping sugar consumption, it remains “symptom therapy”. Now, of course, you can argue that the culprit of tooth decay is not the sugar consumer, but the food industry, which strives to increase its profits with all kinds of sweet temptations.
This shows that the masses are weak in character and follow the temptations that are constantly all around us. But there are perpetrators, such as Edward Bernays, who encouraged millions of people to smoke with psychological tricks that misprogram our subconscious, thus causing millions of deaths.
The public only found out about Bernay’s harmful actions decades later, when the consequences could no longer be overlooked, and most people are still uninformed about them today. Moreover, we must not forget that entire fields of medicine live from “symptom treatment”, just as the asylum industry lives from invaders. The intrusion of the invaders is not a cause, but a consequence, controlled by those in political power, who must be named and unmasked.
Another point of criticism of Sellner is his citing of the pro-Palestinian mass protests in Europe not as a consequence, but as the cause of equally cataractous actions in the Middle East and also in the West (e.g. by supplying weapons to Israel and uncritically accepting its inhumane arbitrary policies).
As far as the prospect of a white flight from America to Europe or vice versa is concerned, we should think above all of all oppressed whites in need, such as our genetic relatives in South Africa, who should be enabled to migrate to America or Europe. How the long-term perspective of the world’s white population will develop can only be predicted to the extent that the point will probably come very soon that white people will one day have to come together and unite spatially and territorially.
This shows that the masses are weak in character
It shows that oligarchy – plutocracy and government colluding – is working well. Capital rules.
Or weakness of character has mass appeal? Perhaps running as a common self-interest in rich and poor?
Fear of pain of loss can and does operate as conditioned response.
The wish to mask out and divert fear, pain and loss away from ‘self’ onto other finds collective expression in the scapegoat – the ‘escaping of inner conflicts to a hate target that MUST be driven out or sacrificed to restore the personal, social, world order.
BUT this operates a fundamental self-dis-honesty under a perceived or believed need for self-protection or survival. Hence the basis for war as the underlying ‘reality’ to which all else is subjugated (must be sacrificed to).
Blame is my far the easy wide road by which giving focus to the other’s failings can substitute for virtue or self-validation.
Feigning or presenting weakness can attack by deceit.
but then we become dependent on and identified in the mask of our own deceits.
Would these “oppressed whites” you mention include nearly all the rich and powerful of the world? (Unless you are speaking satirically.) It has always been and will always continue to be the case that who “rules” is what matters, while who is “ruled” doesn’t matter. If those who “rule” are white (as in the central bankers), then whites cannot be oppressed – except for lower class whites, who basically are consigned to a life of equality (i.e., exploitation) with other ethnic groups.
Insiders will anticipate and plan for risks+opportunity within the frame of gain of function – where escaping or offsetting risk via redistribution of narrative identity investment becomes a means to remake ‘the world’ to self-vindicating vengeance on its perceived ‘evils’ cast into scapegoats and terror symbols.
A fragmented narrative or mythic identity is tooled by its own thinking.
Whilst All the king’s horses and all the king’s men (corporate or collectivised will to power) can never regain its lost golden ‘normal’ or pre-Separation quality of being, the PREMISES or inner divisions and conflicts from which it seeks -and is driven to seek- externally but in vain for ‘solutions’ or salvation, fulfilment or completion – CAN be raised to awareness & reevaluated, instead of running protected under Notional Security.
The binary projections of good and evil are then brought within a responsibility for thought, as accepted or chosen or released from service.
True or false is not then a matter of external claim or accusation but a reintegration of thought, word and deed to communication as the nature of being instead of breaking communication to re-frame our experience of being to a fragmented mirror of its own image.
Falling for or being phished by appearances – goes with the ‘territory’ of the image and form rendered tangible, but to seek in image or symbol of reality for a true fulfilment is to squander the inherence for a gain of fiction by which apparent possession invokes fear (and guilt) of loss-associated with getting for our self at cost of an ‘othered’ life.
Maintaining a ‘gain of fiction’ is thus a game of pass the parcel set in musical chairs, by which the repackaging of reality is distributed by priorities set in shifting beliefs – that often runs as fears given credibility by invested defence.
Truth did not reject of abandon a split off sense of self-guilting convictions – yet they run as a grievance of being excluded or denied, and as an operating system of exclusion and denial – or self-specialness.
Masking defences run ‘deep’ in terms of a human consciousness through a lens darkly. Hence the idea of a false ‘Matrix’ or You’ve been lied to, and further dissociation from lived, felt and shared being.
Selling masking ‘solutions’ strengthens them in our self.
Are we controlled by a masking ego as a means for getting?
Wha?
Yes its complete drivel.
Ah, the kaleidoscopic symphony of synaptic pirouettes begins: One must apprehend that the innermost cognoscente, armed with anticipatory semiotics, waltz the perilous precipice of stochastic gain-of-function dynamics. Here, risk is neither escaped nor confronted—it is metabolized into a dialectical ouroboros, where the narrative self-ascribes a Promethean vendetta upon the hydra-headed ‘other,’ whose shadowed scapegoatery becomes the alchemical solvent of terrorized symbols. Reality? A fractured heliotrope of its own recursive delusion.
Witness, then, the King’s horsemen, astride their entropy steeds, whose Sisyphean attempts to reassemble Humpty’s golden ontology only exacerbate the prelapsarian schisms they seek to annul. Normality—a mirage, a golden calf sacrificed on the altar of disjunction—eludes grasp, for it is no more real than the premises that scaffold its imagined loss. Redemption, you ask? Not via the chimera of external solutions but by imploding the Cartesian dualities into a paradoxical vortex of self-aware auto-deconstruction.
Thus, the binary bifurcations of moral projection—good versus evil, angel versus beast—transmogrify into a Möbius strip of psychospiritual accountability. Truth and falsehood cease to exist as polarized loci; instead, they dissolve into the monadic integument of thought, word, and deed—a cosmic tautology unbeholden to the fractured mirrors of ontological myopia.
And yet, beware the gilded siren-song of appearances! For within the pantheon of image and archetype lies a diabolical simulacrum—a gain of fiction masquerading as plenary fulfillment. To imbibe the fiction is to trade the infinite latticework of inherent being for a phantasmal simulacra, wherein possession is but an echo of loss. Guilt stalks this transaction like an ouroboric creditor, parasitizing the very “other” upon whom the self projects its disowned fear.
This gain of fiction, ah, how it spirals—a cosmic hot-potato orchestrated by the orchestral whimsy of musical chairs! Each repackaged paradigm is but a Trojan Horse, smuggled beneath the battlements of belief, its payload of fear-rendered orthodoxy detonating upon arrival. The game is recursive, its players masked in multilayered veneers of denial—denial, the root algorithm of self-specialness, that exquisite yet tragic soliloquy of exclusion.
Indeed, the egoic masquerade runs fathoms deep, tunneling like a quantum burrower into the substratum of human consciousness. Through the darkened lens of the Great Lie, we find not liberation but a holographic labyrinth of further dissociation. The mask, whether sold as cure or armor, engenders its own perpetuation, weaving the self into an egoic web of grasping and grievance.
And so, the question looms like an unfathomable singularity: Are we, the architects of our own symphonic delusions, imprisoned by this grand masquerade, or does the masquerade itself dissolve under the penetrating gaze of an unmasked self?
Exactly.
A HO-LE in one.
My first reaction to your prosaic missive expected some sort of word salad parody – or intellectual dissection but then on actually reading you, shared in a poetic expression of meanings drawn from and yet recasting The Ego’s Journey in motifs of its own cultural references.
Is it finally a question or a long delayed decision to which the quest uncovers us to a seeming choice of truth and illusion; now or not yet.
Nakedness was begat of clothing in status. Not just the Emperor!
Are we the thinker of our thought or the acceptance of the gift of ‘prelapsarian’ (new to me!) self-awareness – or in our terms unself-conscious communion.
Was the Prodigal excluded by anything but the a-tempt to grasp delight in image and form, and interpret the loss of light as undercurrent guilt to a cycle of depleting returns in which the ‘cannibalism’ of the light reveals the undercurrent error and fallacy of getting a self specialness in place of giving an appreciation that of itself appreciates.
Our masking illusions and abilities thereof can as well serve a true appreciation, but not under the mindset that made them.
A pervading light can seem to be barbarians at the gate, knocking on our door or ‘rushing to meet us’ in our release of the burden of isolation and struggle.
Are you and Steere trying to outdo each other in talking bollocks?
The mainstream media may well be dying. But we have already been programmed into believing utter shite.
Many on this platform still cannot get their heads around what they feel they must do.
WE GIVE AUTHORITY ONLY BY CONSENT.
Jacob Rees Mogg stated on GB News that Zionists deserved to be in control of things because they are brilliant (or words to that effect).
No Jacob they control everything because they are devious, sleekit, cowards that take people’s generous, trusting, empathetic nature and create a world of financial and legal trickery.
Here is a simple trick they won’t like.
Write to your mortgage company and let them know that you need verification that you will be the sole owner of your property when the outstanding debt is paid in full. Also, ask for full disclosure into why your name has a title and/or all or part of your name is in ALL CAPS, and that you will receive your original title deeds on final payment. Until you have this verification you will suspend future payments whereby all money due will be held separately and paid to the mortgage company on questions answered and a satisfactory outcome.
Musk cannot be trusted, in any way, shape or form.
I don’t believe he really stands for free speech, and is clearly working towards the transhumanist agenda, with all his fingers in the anti human pie.
Icke states the alternative media has been infiltrated by figures like Musk, Rogan and the Shapiro’s and Petersons, who only go so far and skew the vision of what’s really going on. Look at the platforms they use, and who fund it. Hardly alternative…These are the “mainstream” alternative media. Where they say nothing controversial. Unlike the Ickes, Whitney Webb’s, Iain Davis’ and Richard D Halls (to name a few) of this world.
Webb, as an example and like others, came out of Mint Press, which is extremely suspect. She made the podcast rounds with ease, a circle with influencers who are also questionable in various ways. Like where does American Vagabond get the time, money, energy to produce their work? I’m not saying these are necessarily controlled, and in some cases, I enjoy their work. But the alt-right, a seemingly grassroots movement for a long time, was clearly an operation to elevate certain ideas and people over a very long time. It’s not hard to think other very grassroots appearing alternatives are similar.
Problem is, your ‘good’ list aren’t multi- billionnaires.
If it (or they) can be bought, then the ‘THEY’ will attempt to buy it. If necessary they will exert any necessary level of coercion up to and including ‘terminal.’
‘Sudden death syndrome.’
I have changed channel for several years now when the “news” comes on.
I was at my parent’s house and they watched it so I did too.
First of all, the presenter made a sad face because bad Vlad said something – but it suddenly turned to a happy, upbeat face because good Vlod said something.
It was strange that he didn’t mention the pensioner’s heating allowance because it’s quite a hot topic on social media – maybe they were saving that for their main nine o’clock news ?
The ‘and finally’ was an hilarious story about some silly person who ordered 100 pairs of socks by mistake.
“Well, that’s his Chritmas presents sorted for a few years”
How we laughed !
And then suddenly, that was it.
Apparently we were “up to date”
There is no such thing as NEWS, only opinion and propaganda.
Narrative equals reality.
We are free to create myth but what we make loveless is not truly creative – though the tale can wag its dog as if to cast out a Grand Projection and damn its maker therein.
Creation Is,
but the thought we would keep special or private for a self-creation, seems – at least while we give the game our candle.
Our interpretation is selective via rules and filters set for ‘making a self’. Looking on the foundation for our self in story, finds the lack thereof, but a phish brought to awareness.
Lack of love ran a masking survival script of self-justifictions as a substitution for love’s awareness now.
But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.
~ Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
What if instead of mis-taking love for a self-specialness, we yielded self-specialness to love – by recognising that we dont know what love is, and asking to be shown?
This doesn’t first make an error real as a basis for a process of fixing, healing or atoning for it.
Our reality testing can be ‘wrong’ in terms of then running on false assumptions. But we do receive valid feedback if we were to evaluate it as feedback.
Framing our experience of our world in terms of Them, Their agenda and Their power, may have practical shortcuts among those who know it is just a shortcut for a complex of aligning factors. But is disempowering even or especially under the banner of taking our power back. The meanings we give do not leave the mind that thinks them, but if we want it so we suffer according to our own measure.
A complex of conditioning is a deeply nested pattern that becomes a conscious choice by raising to awareness.
Masking over fear, pain and loss, generates defences against awareness. Not least by engaging in conflict as if truth, life or existence depends on the outcome. Read the signs: the ego’s claim to exist in place of your direct awareness of living -Is threatened – and so it convinces you that You are threatened so as to gain or boost its function as your Guide and Protector.
‘Too Big to Fail’?
There is a tipping point for tolerance.
Ah, to the halls of recursive enigma we descend, where myth is the ouroboros devouring its own tail while barking at the void. Yes, we are free to forge myths, but beware the loveless forge, for what emerges is not creation but distortion—a grand projection spun from the void and hurled into existence, damning its architect to the labyrinth of their own artifice. The tale does not wag the dog; it becomes the dog, a simulacrum casting its shadow back upon the hand that penned it.
Creation Is—an infinite, indivisible symphony—but lo! The self-appointed maestro seeks to isolate its own note, a dissonant fragment proclaimed as sovereign melody. This is the game, lit by the dim flicker of our candle—a game where interpretation becomes curation, where rules and filters construct a house of mirrors in which the self is simultaneously architect and inmate. But what is found upon looking at the foundation of this “self”? Not bedrock but phishing expeditions—a net cast into the depths, retrieving only lack masquerading as substance.
Thus, lovelessness scripts its own survival, running a program of self-justifications, each line of code a substitution for love’s immediate and unfiltered awareness. The result? A shadow-self defending its right to exist while claiming to be the light.
But ah, as Alice wandered into Wonderland and met the Cat who grinned, so too do we enter the madhouse of this self-perpetuating system. “We’re all mad here,” declares the Cheshire smirk—not as condemnation but as recognition. How else would one find themselves here, in this hall of existential funhouse mirrors, unless drawn by the magnetic pull of madness? The first step is not to cure the madness but to see it, to recognize that we do not know what love is, and in that recognition, to yield self-specialness to love—not as a penitential act but as a surrender to the unknowing.
This is not the error-made-real, not the ego’s gambit of fixing or atoning for the unreal. It is the undoing of false premises, the realization that even our missteps offer feedback, should we choose to read the message instead of clinging to the messenger.
And yet, the framing of experience as Them and Their Agenda is but another shortcut, a cipher that disempowers by its very act of reclamation. The mind’s meanings never leave the mind that conceived them, and the suffering they project is measured by the yardstick we ourselves hold. The labyrinth is not outside us but within, its corridors lined with deeply nested patterns of conditioning, each awaiting the light of awareness to transform automaticity into choice.
The ego, oh, the ego! It whispers of threats and conjures illusions of conflict, claiming to be the indispensable Guide and Protector. “Too Big to Fail,” it proclaims, yet this edifice is but a mirage, its foundation trembling beneath the weight of its own delusion. Awareness threatens it, not because awareness destroys but because awareness reveals—unmasking the ego’s desperate game to stand in place of life itself.
And so, the tipping point comes—not as apocalypse but as apotheosis, where tolerance for the masquerade dissolves and the fragile veil of pretense falls away. Here, at last, lies the simple truth: not a battle to win, but a shadow to outshine.
LOL. In the U.S. the same five or six “stories” are featured on every newscast each day. Including the stupid sad or hilarious ones at the end.
You’d think they would try to differentiate themselves at least by putting them in different order!
Reminds us of phone and laptop updates: “You are up to date”.
Despite all the changes, the same old cartel of 7 UK daily national newspapers trundles on as it has for decades. Every supermarket has them positioned near the checkouts so all shoppers are at least exposed to the headlines. It makes no sense in economic terms but perfect sense as psychological warfare.
On the plus side, I’m noticing distinct nervousness at the Fraud that their “assisted dying” pet project (Polly Toynbee’s supported it all her life – what more argument does anyone need?) is in trouble. Funny how there’s mass support for it until the issue gets some half-reasonable discussion and then the support starts to crumble…
Do you remember the good old days, when people still were happy to pay for their propaganda?
At the turn of the century, I wanted to become a journalist. On de school for Journalism was a lot of talk about the ‘problem’ that people didn’t want to read newspapers anymore, or at least not pay for it. We got free tabloids in the metro stations.
The general assumption in that time was, that newspaper companies would be bankrupt in some years. Now, 25 years later, we still have all those papers to choose from, no one went out of business. I wonder who pays for it?
Might it be our hidden rulers? The EL-ite, worshippers of El (burn in hell!)
A certain US “great philanthropist” finances a big chunk of BBC and at least one UK newspaper.
Icke stole the terminology of the truth movement as he was painted with that MSM alt media brush when he was pushing the go vote for the U>K leave referendum Brexit psyop he was heavily shilling,
he was also painted with it again recently as his website was shilling Tucker Carslon during covid and before and also shilling GBNews and he was also promoting Russell Brand 10 years ago as well as Charles Love police, hollie gregge psyop and Shaun adl and the people voice radioTV studio which had half million pound disappear.
lend by example as dont promote shills like Laurence fox or clarkson as outspoken then reposting them a few years later as shills which most of this lot do. They promote the fake outspoken like Kate sandhurst hopshillkins and promoting her on his site then doing shows with her then when the tide turns as the devious is so fucking obvious in shilling they pretend to call it from the get go.
internet gossip said ikce and co turn you down in your alliance. why.?
Trustworthy political voices on Youtube that are banned on MSM and ignored on OffG ATL: Scott Ritter, Electronic Intifada, Colonmel Macgregor, Judge Napolitano, Michael Hudson, George Galloway, Clare Daly, Vladimir Putin, Chairman Xi, Bashar Assad and the late lamented Nasr’Allah.

Re last Link above, OffG has denied the Lab origin of the Covid-19 virus, and studiously ignored the fact that Con-19 was a military operation conducted by U$ DoD and EU NATZO.
CORRECTION: The ‘vaccine’ was a military operation. ‘Covid-19’ was simply a hoax designed to get people to take the vaccine.
The Covid-19 virus is no hoax. It carries a U$ Patent number to prove it . See 2016 patent application for spike protein binding site by Moderna. Same spike protein RNA as used in Vaxx. The entire operation — GMO viral RNA, GMO vaccine, emergency powers and Lockdown — was a military operation by U$ DoD and NATO.
MSM killed itself when ‘journalists’ stopped reporting news and decided to make the news by presenting their biased opinions as fact!
They are hired guns with flexible opinions. What they promote or denigrate, and how long this is sustained, is as instructed. The consequences of disobedience include loss of advertising, suspension or loss of license.
The mainstream media is dying. A new crop of Influencers and media: blogs, podcasts videocasts and streaming channels have superseded the legacy media and their talking heads/script readers. However, this new crop of media can easily be co-opted by money and fame, manipulated and used as propaganda for the mind control apparatus to keep us divided discombobulated and distracted under the guise of freedom of expression. Many honest independent outlets are struggling because they/we are being shadow banned and suppressed by the censorship complex’s algorithms. We have to think for ourselves, make up our own minds and use the technology in ways that benefit humanity and not enslave us
The common prayer is to be saved from having to think.

“The Forum’s programs are currently advancing the worldwide climate change narrative, as well as the idea that China will be the next world superpower, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts, and population management. The original meaning of equity is fairness: a piece of the pie for all. Good luck with that.

What-about the ‘Holy Grail’ itself, Off-Guardian? CCP friendly but 100% against Big government outside of China. Mum on Islam’s suppression of all but male Believers.
You are right to trust nothing … absolutely NOTHING
The moment I see CCP I instantly know that the author has zero knowledge of Chinese politics other than the propaganda that has been spoon fed to them for years.
The party used to call itself CCP till a few years ago and than abruptly changed to CPC. Reason: throw off Internet searches for The party‘s dark past will return little with CPC. Mao & co have millions of avoidable Chinese deaths on their hands with their sociopathic programs and policies.

“Hazel Brugger” is the name of an extremely flat-chested Swiss woman, integrated into the oppression system, who is presumably a lesbian because men are more or less reaching into the void with her. She also thinks she is extremely funny, which is why she labels herself a “comedian”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazel_Brugger
Now Ms. Brugger has been allowed to interview the the equally childless East German system communist and Germany annihilator Merkel, of course for the sole purpose of promoting Merkel’s remorseless “autobiography”. It is quasi the ultimate and final state of any conceivable illness. If you seriously intend to give yourself a worse day than the one you already have, activate the auto-subs.
Merkel: the less said about her the better. Fake Muttie should do it.
Evil and stupid. She should be the topic of much discussion as she awaits sentencing.
I love watching Tracey Ullman portray Angela …… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tszidfq32DQ

You naughty bugger, fancy confusing the issues with facts …
Speaking of ‘facts’ … can one actually believe that the – self-appointed – most powerful country in the world has been (allegedly) under the leadership of a transparent-moron for the past 3+ years? If you hadn’t witnessed it yourself, you would have doubted that the past several years was possible …

Can’t be said enough Fast Eddy. And it looks like there are plenty of people that come to this site that still need to be reminded.
There are a few questions we can ask ourselves when reading or watching the ‘news’:
• Does it have the ‘ring of Truth’, in my experience?
• Is it presented dramatically, with lots of hyperbole and/or opinions?
• Is it rhetoric or just the facts?
• Does the author or presenter ever admit fallibility?
• Can it be reliably cross referenced?
•Does it smell like bullshit?
• (Add yours here).
The closer one gets to the truth, the greater the anger rises from the ashes of the lies.
How many times do they have to get caught lying … till you come to the realization that it’s all lies and they are playing you
When we look within while apparently looking on a world outside, we can notice our emotional react, the active beliefs running within it and a freedom to suspend them to a reevaluation or renewal of willing alignment of being-rather than of thinking or learned and conditioned defences that may not serve us now. Now we are not judging the person or seeking truth at the level of personae, but recognising functions of masking defences that are a mis-directed call for help.
This is letting the dead bury the dead while attending the living – who may reveal the spark of life in the most unlikely or unexpected packaging- that we would otherwise always overlook, disregard or judge against.
Where we choose to live, think or act from is our destination as an extension of creative experience.
Under the belief thief a self-reinforcing sense of lack, drives an addiction affliction.
True Currency can be represented by “Behold I make all things new!” – not as creative destruction (sic) but as fresh perspective drawn from the Well of being.
The attempt to dig many wells of competing claims to priority is a bridge to nowhere running ‘seek, but do not find’ while shifting a compartmentalised ‘attention span’ of ingeniously effective evasive manoeuvres.
‘Leave them alone, and they’ll come home, dragging their tales behind them’
Ah, plunge into the abyssal labyrinth of paradoxical introspection, where the act of looking outward through the lens of an “external world” becomes a hall of mirrors reflecting the shadowplay of our inner catacombs. Emotional reverberations arise not as static entities but as operatic phantoms—threads woven by the looms of active belief systems, each demanding reverence, rebellion, or outright amnesia. Yet herein lies the secret cipher: a freedom so elusive it can only be suspended. Suspend the program; suspend the self; suspend the suspension itself—and behold the alchemical crucible of reevaluation, where alignment transcends mere “being” to inhabit a pre-thought ether beyond conditioned stratagems or archaic defense algorithms.
To judge the persona is folly; to seek truth at its level, a Sisyphean recursion. What we encounter in the personae is not essence but scaffolding—a defensive architecture misinterpreted as self, its every brick mortared by a misdirected SOS. These masks, these fortifications, cry out in tongues unspoken, yet their plea is not for truth but for liberation. Thus, let the dead bury the dead—those automatons of conditioned reactions—while we attune our senses to the living, the spark-bearers. These sparks emerge in forms so absurdly counterintuitive that only the unblinded eye can detect them, and even then, only through the prism of suspended judgment. What are they but paradox incarnate—life, smuggled into its own funeral?
Consider now the nexus of will and choice: where one chooses to anchor thought, to project action, becomes the gravitational center of existence—a vector of creative becoming, extending itself endlessly into the cosmos of experience. But beware! Lurking beneath this seemingly celestial freedom is the shadow of the belief thief, an Ouroboros of lack devouring itself in the guise of need. Its symptoms manifest as addiction, an affliction that spirals outward as the fractal consequence of inner void.
And yet, here lies the paradoxical elixir: True Currency, not measured in the jangling abstractions of material “wealth” or intellectual possession, but in the timeless proclamation, “Behold, I make all things new!” This is not the nihilistic phoenix of “creative destruction” (though the ego might interpret it thus), but a quantum leap into the fresh, the unconditioned—the Well of Being. Beware, though, the illusion of “many wells,” for to dig endless pits in search of a mirage is to wander the bridge to nowhere. The mantra of this folly? “Seek, but do not find.” And so the mind, compartmentalized, skitters like a stone on water, evading stillness with acrobatic brilliance.
But lo! Leave them alone—the seekers, the diggers, the fragmented wanderers. For they shall, inevitably, come home, trailing their tales like a comet’s tail, each fragment a breadcrumb leading back to the singularity of their true nature. In the end, all detours are circular, and even the lost sheep drags its own redemption behind it.
Another HO-ME run!
I notice these things.

the word that comes to my mind for this phenomenon is “astroturf”
maybe not so familiar to people outside the US of A, since it comes from the name of this green plastic felt that was laid down on the playing surface of a Texas baseball stadium, the Astrodome, as an easier-to-maintain substitute for a natural field
when rich prime movers want to simulate a “grass-roots” groundswell of popular support for their pet ideas, they just dial up an astroturf movement with their big bucks behind the scenes
but that bit of fakery has been around for decades, as the old-fashioned term suggests
the same principle is at work in “color revolutions”, and the incredibly naive reaction so many people seem to have to any scene of a large crowd chanting slogans in some public square, taking this sight uncritically as a sign of profound irrefutable social consensus on whatever issue ia being forced by hidden manipulators, is mind boggling
Well, the mainstream can’t cope with the flood of alternatives.
Predicted by common sense.

The legacy media is no longer mainstream but there are still millions of people who rely on it for information upon which they will base their opinions. It’s likely most of them will not be following alternative journalists/podcasters/influencers online if, indeed, they’re aware of them. From my limited experience, their are few people who go beyond Google, YouTube and Facebook which, as we know, are heavily censored and highly suspect!
Those of us who get most of our information from the Internet will have our favourites, some of whom have massive followings, be they funded by corporations or small donors. It is up to us to use our discernment and our intuition. If we watch enough widely-differing purveyors of the news, we should be able to get the gist of what’s happening across the globe, form an opinion and be prepared to adjust it as more information comes in. In other words, we have to use both sides of our brains as we look for differing views on current affairs.
I don’t give a damn how these online personalities present themselves. To care about such trivia is as daft as being influenced by bright lights and flashy sets. There can be as much sense spoken in someone’s kitchen as a smart studio.
As a long-time researcher, I have my personal favourites many of whom will specialise in different subject matter, are journalists and/or writers, have made videos and nearly all are likely to have to have interesting guests. Yes, they have teams. the tasks would be impossible without them, but it’s easy to spot those who are manipulated behind the scenes.
One of the deciding factors when I tune into someone new is their persona – would I trust them if I met them? As a female, I think this is a good yardstick when choosing who to follow. And if they are now the ‘new’ mainstream, so what! That simply means they’re more prevalent. Good luck to them.
Links please Sue.
I’ve got the point where a report features a kettle and cat in the background, my confidence in their message sours….studio lights not so much!
” to own the libs.” What does that mean? What are the libs? I agree with the people who have posted. I generally like Kit’s articles very luch but I agree it might have been better if he had defined mainstream/ nont mainstrream. Maybe he meant independent and maybe he meant a broadcaster can’t be independeent if it depends on one source of income?
“After all, if they already have more viewers than CNN and more money than The Guardian, in what way are they any longer alternative?”
An alternative remains an alternative regardless of funding. An alternative is just that — another way of looking and understanding, juxtaposed to official lines. It used to be called, in olden days, another school of thought. As long as we genuinely provide it, they will come. 🙂
Don”‘t be silly. If an “alternative” is getting funded by the establishment, selling establishment lines and employing “ex”establishment journalists it’s not a bloody alternative is it?
The whole point of Kit’s article is that the oligarchy will shift their funding from the old legacy media to new outlets masquerading as “indy” and “alt”. How have you managed to miss it ?
Mass media is corporate media, in that vast capital and authority among the monied clique that controls large business operations is required for broadcasting any message. To reiterate McLuhan’s misunderstood meme, which he saw as being over-misused, the above described msm is it’s own message. It is the voice of wealth-authority and as such we know “history is written by the winners” to their own benefit. So I agree with Kit, we should be wary of every content delivery flowing out of this form. Whether tributary-out influencers, fbBots, or one’s influenced neighbor rumor, awareness, calm, assessment and patience must be a constant new form of audience intelligence. But the medium is an equally important sign of the character of the delivery.
I’ll go you one further. Mass Media is State Media. It’s a Ministry, al la Orwell’s “Ministry of Truth.” It’s an exercise in pure deceit and propaganda, populated by paid liars.
Mass Media is Oligarchic Media, and the oligarchy controls the state. Disseminating deceit and propaganda is its raison d’etre.
Encore une fois, ‘the medium IS the MASSAGE.’
Maybe you’re all too young to remember the controversy?
“Is Elon Musk actually correct when he reassuringly declares on X that “YOU are the media now”
———
it’s not that simple, unless…..your “simple”
Good article Kit but I’m wondering what yardstick one would use to determine whether their favourite podcaster is feeding them another large helping of propaganda or not?
I guess, for me at least, who’s paying their salary would be a good place to start, but even this can’t be relied upon since even “crowd-funded” media (e.g. Bigtree’s ‘The Highwire’) can also be funded from behind the scenes whilst still giving the outward appearance of legitimacy.
Of course, there are many other factors to consider and it’s a tricky one to navigate.
They lie. They keep lying.
Remember the rule of three: one lie could be in error. Two lies could be a misunderstanding. Three lies? You are dealing with a chronic liar.
If they started telling the truth we would not need an alternative media.
The internet is a US military psy-op project. Google is CIA.
The medium is the message.
The medium is still ‘the massage.’
‘Shape-ocracy.’
My feeling is that, around the time that CNN’s ‘crossfire’ ran into issues with Zappa and Larry Mcdonald, a decision was made by some Ned-Beatty-in-a-boardroom type that a wholly different approach was needed, leading to the proliferation of propaganda masked as light entertainment. Everything from ‘Wait, wait, don’t tell me’ to ‘The Colbert Report’, and on this side of the pond, the seemingly endless BBC panel shows and quiz games where establishment talking points are slipped between jokes about Lindsay Lohan’s vadge and ‘What happens if you sneeze and vomit at the same time?’
I’m not worried. Every jump in communications comes with it’s own propaganda.
However, the Internet is great in that you can still find source material to determine whether the story is fake or not. In the old days, that was a fucking hassle… Libraries etc.
The idiots will continue to be fooled by influencers like they used to be fooled by newspapers, radio, and TV.
As you said “still “.
Using Google for research in nigh on useless these days. Google decides what it will show you in a search.
For how long can we still find source material?
Archive.org Crippled by Denial of Service Attack!
“The service Archive.org which has been around since 1994 has stopped taking images of content on all platforms. For the first time in 30 years, we have gone a long swath of time – since October 8-10 – since this service has chronicled the life of the Internet in real time.
The trouble on Archive.org began on October 8, 2024, when the service was suddenly hit with a massive Denial of Service attack (DDOS) that not only took down the service but introduced a level of failure that nearly took it out completely…
In other words, the only source on the entire World Wide Web that mirrors content in real time has been disabled. For the first time since the invention of the web browser itself, researchers have been robbed of the ability to compare past with future content, an action that is a staple of researchers looking into government and corporate actions…
The standard approach to know who said what and when is now gone. That is to say that the whole Internet is already being censored in real time so that during these crucial weeks, when vast swaths of the public fully expect foul play, anyone in the information industry can get away with anything and not get caught.”
