My Internal Exile
“Let me have war, say I; it exceeds peace as far as day does night: it’s spritely waking, audible, and full of vent. Peace is a very apoplexy, lethargy; mull’d, deaf, sleepy, insensible; a getter of more bastard children than war’s a destroyer of men.”
Shakespeare, Coriolanus
Long ago, but what seems like only yesterday, I didn’t go to the U.S. war against Vietnam but the war came to me. It was when my exile began.
I am telling you this to try to shed some light on today’s wars and alarums since my tale is common for a small subset of Americans of my generation. We learned long ago that the USA was run by ruthless killers who reveled in war. Vietnam, the Phoenix Program, Cambodia, Indonesia, etc. Nothing was beyond them. We sensed that they would never stop and they haven’t. The genocide of Palestinians, the proxy war via Ukraine against Russia, the current US/Israel/Turkey bloodbath in Syria and Lebanon led by our ruthless terrorists – it is all nightmarish, malevolent, utterly evil, and conjures up hell on earth. And it will get worse in the future.
The mainstream media is claiming that the new savior of Syria is the terrorist “rebel” leader, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, the founding leader of Al Qaeda in Syria, al-Nusra, and a former deputy to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
While there is truth in the view that the world has always been a butcher’s bench with wars, hatred, and strife being a common theme, “always” is meaningless to me. For I have never lived in “always.”
I have lived since birth in the United States during a period of time when it has been the world’s number one butcher, starting with the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then continuing waging non-stop wars, assassinating foreign and domestic leaders, including President Kennedy, executing coup d’états, supporting and arming ruthless dictators and terrorists, and creating an economy dependent on war.
All this has been sustained by lies and propaganda that most Americans have swallowed. It is a deeply ingrained Yankee doodle dandy ethos joined with American exceptionalism and a self-induced false innocence.
Just this morning, December 8, 2024, as it did during the Vietnam war, The New York Times spewed out lies about the events in Syria, calling the U.S.-backed jihadist terrorists (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham/Al Qaeda, et al.) “rebels” and the overthrow of the Assad government a “civil war.” In doing so, the paper is just doing what it has always done as an organ for U.S. foreign policy, seemingly forgetting that it was the Obama administration that in 2012 launched Operation Timber Sycamore, a CIA program to, under the guise of a civil war, overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as part of a larger effort to undercut Iran and Russia for U.S./Israel/Turkey/NATO control of the region.
It is propaganda about a much larger war well underway, as the presence of Ukrainian forces in Syria and the usual Israeli bombing attest. Like a mountain ridge wildfire, the winds whip wildly now, and whether the fire spreads next to Iran or somewhere else, it is sure to spread.
To paraphrase Thoreau, there is no need to care for a myriad of instances and applications, the only thing you need is to be acquainted with the principle, which in this case is the long-standing demonic nature of U.S. foreign policy which is synchronous with waging perpetual war.
Yet most people don’t want to go past such lying headlines that are repeated by all the mainstream media. They never did, except when the issues concerned them personally, as when there was a military draft.
Yes, government and media propaganda have contributed mightily to it, but so many of the country’s war crimes have been committed out in the open and accompanied by the public’s cheering and flag waving that propaganda is only part of the explanation.
The will to believe and self-delusion are a large part of it. And people seem to like war, if it is far away and the cheerleaders are on this side of the water. It lends excitement to life like a real murder mystery, a sex scandal, or an approaching hurricane.
Furthermore, it provides roots for the national myth, the mythic home, the mythic womb, wherein one can root for the home team as one stands with tens of thousands of team people and sing along with the words “bombs bursting in air” while feeling a stirring of patriotic pride. This desire to be patriotically conventional, to support the national team in war and peace, is very powerful. Why else the creation of the mammoth bureaucracy called Homeland Security, the un-American word homeland taken straight from Hitler’s 1934 Nuremberg rally. Root, root, root for the home team.
I know the patriotic feeling. It left me back in 1967 when my exile began. For the most part, it has not been apparent to outside observers, for there are places difficult to reach, and the one within is the most distant. My youthful “normalcy” received its first body blow with JFK’s assassination in 1963. By 1967 I had joined the Marines and then declared myself a conscientious objector as I realized the evil my country was committing in Vietnam. I was on my way away.
In the years that followed, as Malcom X, MLK, Jr. and RFK, were assassinated and Johnson and Nixon lied and brutalized Vietnam, my understanding of history and politics deepened. Families and friends called me a communist for being a C.O. and opposing the war and a lying government. It was laughable but relentless.
Many years have elapsed, and the charges have risen and fallen as the years have gone by. For years now, the name of abuse is a “conspiracy” theorist or Russian sympathizer for daring to say that Russia Gate was a Democratic conspiracy and the war against Russia in Ukraine has been a U.S. project from the start. There is much more.
But my point about internal exile is that I had to adopt the motions of normalcy in everyday life – to create a pleasant persona – to get through the days. My teaching and writing continued as hard-hitting as before, but family, friends, academic colleagues, and acquaintances didn’t take my courses or read my writing, which they made sure to avoid.
These days, many more people have been forced to discover the twofold life where they can’t talk to the people in their lives about many issues – politics, wars, Covid, etc. Something has broken. Almost everything.
To accept the conclusion that the country is run by a bunch of ruthless warmongering imperialists is a step too far for most people. They must mean well or just make mistakes, for their hearts are in the right place, runs through so many minds. At least they assume that about the leaders they support.
A key way the endless wars roll on is the deadly political game of the lesser of two evils. If it is one’s political party waging the foreign wars, there are always many reasons to still find it better than the other party’s wars. “My leader may be a warmonger but he’s better than your warmonger” is the unspoken implication.
This neat trick is supported by a host of mitigating excuses to justify the delusion that one is for peace even as these wars occur non-stop throughout the decades as the Democratic and Republican leaders switch highchairs.
Rather than dismiss the lot of them, the desire to feel that patriot heart-pump, however dim, and to reject the “extremist” conclusion that war is the life blood of the country, remains.
Throughout the sixty years of my adult life, the U.S. has been continuously waging wars, hot and cold, small and large, openly and secretly, all across the world, and its economy has increasingly become a military-industrial-national-security complex so vast and intricately linked to daily life that the country would collapse without it. Simply put: Beneath daily life lies a death cult, a river of blood. If that sounds too strong for you, give me another name for it.
It seems to me very clear that most Americans are today suffering from some sort of traumatic mental sickness, trying desperately to deny it in a multitude of ways. Scratch the surface of an everyday conversation or a greeting on the street and there’s the rolling of the eyes and the looks that say, “Let’s not go there, it’s all too crazy!” Something has broken, and people seem like walking desperadoes with the flag planted like a dagger in their hearts.
Even the alternative media, those writers with whom I share wishes for a peaceful world, have for a good while let their hopes trump realty by claiming the American empire is doomed, as is Israel and the neo-liberal, neo-con agenda. For many months now, I have noticed something amiss with these claims. Too much wishful thinking. Too little appreciation for the machinations of the CIA, M-16, Mossad, Turkish conspiracies. To think these devils would accept defeat without bringing the world down is naïve.
I don’t relish saying all this. It is depressing. But I think it is true.
Some people who know me call me an extremist and claim I make no room for the middle ground. When it comes to U.S. war-waging, I say there is none. It is endless and integral to U.S. foreign policy no matter which party is in office. And the foreign policy is integral to the domestic policy. Without it, the country would be so different. Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden – to buy their lies is to be a fool.
To realize the difference between power and innocence is to come to understand the demonic nature of America’s Forever Wars. When in 2014 President Obama stood at West Point and said, “I believe in American exceptionalism with every fiber of my being,” he was revealing, consciously or not, a hard truth, just as when he received the Nobel Peace Prize and told the world he believed in war. But he smiled.
For war is the lifeblood of this “exceptional” country. But if you keep repeating that, don’t expect smiles to come your way.

I saw some TRULY NAFF adverts on youtube the other day made by the German Bundeswehr. I couldn’t bear to watch it until the end because it was just revolting propaganda. It started off with the usual line in the ‘ free West’ about ‘Russia’s war of aggression on Ukraine which is against international law.’ etc. I reckon it was a call for people to sign up . I reckon the WEF/globalists really are coming for us big time
“There’s room at the top they are telling you still, but first you must learn how to smile as you kill, If you want to be like the folks on the hill”. A working class hero is something to be: https://youtu.be/iMewtlmkV6c
Yes Mr. Curtin. But one thing is the Professional Politician and their brutal Power games. The worst thing of it all is not he few bullies, but as you precisely write, your own.
Your own nation, your own tribe, your own neighbour, your own family members.
“We are all fokking peasants as far I can see”.
But there is an answer and an explanation to the WHY cried to heaven: “I did not come here to make peace. I came here with a sword”!
Receive it. There is nothing else! If you like to be something more and else than the folks on the Hill.
True patriots fight to protect their nation against the evil state, to awaken fellow citizens to their greatest enemy, the corrupt ruling elite. How can bemoaning the brainwashed and the ‘kingdom of lies’ to an audience already awakened advance that objective? Edward Curtin might also note that fighting rulers and warmongers is so much harder and more dangerous in fully communist tyrannies.
Thank you Edward, It took me a bit longer to arrive at the same station you left the narrative from. I missed the Vietnam war, but two of my brothers didn’t. A third brother was at Kent State during the shootings. All three are supporters of our foreign policy and wars. Sad. I joined the US Army in the late 80s and finished a career in the Special Forces. The last few years were an awakening. I now see the horrors of my past and what my life has supported today. It will be long last years to make up for those first.
Looks like the propaganda department is really resorting to the Sci fi memes now – from the Graud:
“World-leading scientists have called for a halt on research to create “mirror life” microbes amid concerns that the synthetic organisms would present an “unprecedented risk” to life on Earth.
The international group of Nobel laureates and other experts warn that mirror bacteria, constructed from mirror images of molecules found in nature, could become established in the environment and slip past the immune defences of natural organisms, putting humans, animals and plants at risk of lethal infections.”
It’s about time they started to use tax payer’s money to really stretch themselves in the scary stuff. I expect a major input from the CGI crew on this one.
Why does war get such a bad rap? It is after all… NECESSARY…. unless of course you are ok with living like a Somalian>….
Take a good look at this dying child, a product of the starvation caused by the war in Yemen. >>> https://fasteddynz.substack.com/p/why-war-is-awesome
You are complicit. You benefit from this. You live large – because of this.
8 billion humans are competing to live large. Each and every one of us aspires to own a car, a nice house, go on vacation, never skip a meal and have enough for a cushy retirement. The ultra-competitive have dreams of private jets, mega mansions and Champagne and caviar for breakfast.
Rejoice! For you are a winner.
Unfortunately, the resources of the world are finite, so there will be winners – but most will be losers. And most of the losers will eke out a miserable existence in vile rat and cockroach infested slums, struggling to make enough to afford food. The truly desperate will resort to pimping out their daughters or deforming their children because that’s a great business model for a career as a beggar.
It’s not as if we – the winners in the battle for MORE – don’t care. Of course we care.
Remember the massive fund raiser in 1985 to help the poor starving folks in Africa and the top selling single ‘We are the World.’
That did nothing to alleviate the plight of the billions who live in utter desperate, permanent destitution.
We then resumed bombing wedding parties and committing mass murder whenever the folks in the target countries dared to oppose our pillaging of their resources. We carried on with organizing colour revolutions and installing compliant dictators who were rewarded for selling out and assisting us with grand theft resources.
bbccnn told us that they deserved that deluge of Raytheon missiles because some of them got uppity about the resource pillaging and threw stones at our tanks. How dare they! Ironically, bbccnn labels these people as terrorists.
Meanwhile, we continue to show we care by dropping a few coins into the Oxfam box or adding a buck to our $400 bill at the supermarket checkout. We wheel our super-sized trolleys to the SUV, load up and head back to our air-conditioned homes in the suburbs listening to Taylor Swift and feeling good about the act of giving.
Most people are totally oblivious to the fact that we enjoy the privilege of stuffing our faces to the point of morbid obesity because of our expertise at blowing up people to ensure the never-ending resource pillage that fuels our absolutely fabulous lifestyles.
Make no mistake – we benefit from war.
Here’s the part where I relieve you of the guilt that might be seeping in. If we did not fight for the limited resources, our competitors would gleefully attack the weak and they would steal the oil and copper.
And if we decided to stop fighting wars and instead gather around campfires, banging tambourines and singing KOOMbaya and Give Peace a chance… we would quickly join the ranks of the weak nations… and China and Russia would drop bombs on our campfire gatherings, and steal our resources.
And yet the suicide rate in North Africa, Asia and South America is lower than most wealthy countries.
Go figure.
Well then … feel free to give up your job… your nice home… your AC and heating … your vacations… your full pantry and fridge…
BROUGHT TO YOU BY PILLAGING OTHER COUNTRIES….
And move to Africa!!!!! Since Africa is heaven on Earth
Of course you will not do that … therefore you need to shut your hole… accept that you Live Large because your country murders and thieves from other countries…
You can stuff your fingers in your ears and sing KOOMbaya till you turn blue in the face
But those are THE FACTS
Lots of assumptions there Eddy.
•Built my own home from straw and recycled materials.
•Don’t have AC, because our solar passive home is cooled and heated naturally.
•Never been to a foreign country. Our holidays consist of camping in the bush and by the ocean.
• Job? Had a low paid job working with disabled Folks.
• Pantry is stocked from our extensive veggie garden and a few fruit trees.
• We follow a vegan diet.
• I don’t vote.
Any other questions or assumptions you can stick in the mail and post it to someone who gives a SHIT.
Ever gone hungry?
Every not had access to medical care?
Ever not had police and courts and a government to keep you safe?
Ever gone to a decent school?
Ever not had access to maintained roads, bridges and other infrastructure?
Ever owned a car?
These are things we take for granted … we refer to them as civilization.
I have been to some nasty places… Ethiopia… Haiti post earth quake… various slums in Asia… they have none of the above.
You should not take what you have for granted… because whatever lifestyle you lead is made possible by the fact that you live in civilization …
And your civilization is only made possible by war. By thieving the resources that create the prosperity that keeps you safe, fed, and happy.
Now that we have that straight … aren’t you pleased that your country is on the winning side?
Because the alternative is to be on the losing side and end up like Libya, Iraq, Syria etc etc etc…
They lost. They do not have security … or enough food… or decent schools or nice roads and bridges and medical care
The next time you come across someone in a military uniform … you need to thank them… They put their lives on the line … so that YOU don’t have to … so that you can live in civilization.
That, I know.
That, I can’t change.
Here, is where I am.
Nope – there is no changing this ….
What we need to do is celebrate being on the winning side.
That said I don’t live in a house of straw … and I am not vegan… and I am not sure what the intended relevance of that comment was… how exactly is that helping the people we f789 over and rob blind…
But what I have done is taken two young kids out of the slums of the Philippines.. and put them through school at considerable investment time and $$$…. they are both responsible and in post secondary school…
Both are nearly done so when the bills for tuition and living expenses end… I can build a straw house with the money
The relevance being;
I restrict my exploitation of other humans and the natural world to a minimum.
Tertiary education for my children was unaffordable, but they live similar lifestyles to us, ie Non exploitative.
As we all die between 65-85 years old, there is no “winners”, only losers. Maybe thats why the world is crazy. The fight version:https://youtu.be/h895PorjShw .
Juggling with facts can produce something like a semblance of truth. But is this the whole truth (and nothing but the truth)?
I find your writing borderline despicable. I wonder, can experiences in your life really support your totally hobbesian worldview.
Let me challenge you: Please, give me your moral judgment of war.
It’s not a judgment … it’s reality
YOU live like YOU do… because of war… because your country has won the wars… because your country has stolen the resources of other countries.
Shame on you!!! Shame Shame Shame.
You are COMPLICIT
Feel free to explain where I am wrong.
Alternatively join hands with the other DelusisTANIS and sing Imagine and KOOMbaya and drown out the bad man for confronting you with the hard truth.
Oh and be sure to toss a few coins into the Oxfam box when you are paying for that full trolley of delicious food… most of it goes to pay for admin costs at Oxfam (business class flights and nice hotels for the honchos) but a pittance will make it to those folks who we bombed into the stone age cuz we needed their copper or oil or uranium…
So that me and you can live large 🙂
I asked you to present your moral judgment of war, didn’t I.
Is this too hard, too demanding for you?
I don’t think of myself being complicit.
What makes me complicit?
I did a two week safari in Kenya 10 years ago….
At one point we came across a gazelle that has just given birth. 3 predators had surrounded her… jackals… 2 vultures and one other (I forget what it was)
I watched as the mother desperately trying to fend them off…she’d run off one but another would quickly race in to try to snatch the baby…she’d turn to drive that one off and another would come…
Eventually one of them did get the baby, kill it.. and eat it. The mother looked on clearly in despair.
Did the predators have morals? Did any of them agree to take pity on the mother and not try to eat her baby? No… of course not… because if they do not compete for that resource – they go hungry. If they refuse to ‘go to war’ for food with other predators… if they instead join paws and sing KOOMbaya… they weaken… and those predators will eat them
We are no different
Some time after the safari I was reading a history of WW1 some years ago … there were a few paragraphs that were crucial to influencing my understanding of war…
The Ottoman Empire was weak and failing … as the author put it — the world powers at the time – France – England – Russia – and the USA … were looking at the Ottoman territories …and trying to position to tear parts of it away…
They were no different that the predators that had surrounded the gazelle…
If any one of them had ‘morals’ and decided not to fight for their piece of meat (Ottoman resources)… they’d be weakened… and they’d end up like the Ottomans.
If you do not want to be complicit in this … then you need to stop being a hypocrite and no longer enjoy the spoils of war…. you need to leave your country and move to one of the loser countries… move to Libya… or Iraq… or Syria… or Afghanistan.
They have no spoils of war…
An average 8 year old could be made to understand how he is complicit… if you cannot understand this … it is because you do NOT want to …
You cannot handle the truth… most people cannot. I suppose religion is to blame?
oh, man GPT would do better job than you…. no interaction….confused thought (“…you need to leave your country…..”), laced with nihilism (“We are no different”)
Why did you stop there?
Aren’t you going to explain how comparing wars fought by countries to secure resources is somehow different from 3 wild animals fighting to get a meal?
Maybe this is why no matter how loudly you sing KOOMbaya and Imagine… the wars continue…
Because to not fight for finite resources… is anathema to all species… compete – or starve
Of course you have that disease of despite being proved wrong and delusional… you double down on your losing position
Feel free to insult me … I’ll take that as a total victory … and that will serve to reinforce my intellectual superiority complex 🙂
“intellectual superiority complex”
LOL
I dropped lucky in 1953 The bombs that the NAZI’s had been bombing England to Hell, had stopped falling on our Family, all of who’m miraculously survived. My older brothers and sisters, and my Mum OK, but my Dad who was very religious (RC) seemed completely impervious to bullets and bombs
It was his job (Brilliant Engineer) at the start of WWII to get the Spitfires and Hurricanes for the Battle of Britain back in to the air, and shoot the German Bombers Down, who were making enormous great holes, and destroying houses in the road where My family still live (now inc Grandkids) fairly close to what was then London’s main Airport.
So 20 years later, he asked me where are you off to on my motorbike.
I am learning to FLY Gliders.
So can’t really blame you Yanks for That.
Thanks for your help then….though its the Russians then and now, who are our Friends. Why be so horrible to them?
Russian Girls in Moscow – Irish Dance
My comment got deleted before I posted it. I was proud of my Dad, in WW2, and the Russians were our Friends. Thanks for the American help then
What have we got now – well you wrote it very well?
She is not amused, and they will shoot back. I am pretty sure the latest missile to bomb Russia was French not English . We wouldn’t dare. Us English like Russian Girls.
Americans can’t compete – no good vibrations now
The British empire handed the torch over to the USA empire, so I’m told. I don’t think it was British and I don’t think it is American. It’s the Commercial Corporate Empire. People blame religions but the temples of ancient mesopotamia were banks as were those of Greece and Rome. Perhaps God is just a shortened form of Gold and religion is disguised finance. We need a new word to describe our collective image of mankind’s deepest aspiration.
There was no handing over. US grabbed the torch quite forcefully. This the miracle of exchange rates and usury, bolstered by armed force.
Don’t mix Mesopotamian temples and kings into this. Prof. Michael Hudson explains the difference well.
I’ll mix whatever I like into into my post with or without any control freak’s permission, thank you.
US grabbed it by themselves. They just found out they could interfere easily in the Brits play globally, whereafter they decided to go Empire by themselves.
Read Karl Rove, Presidential Bush Adviser., if you should wish to get wiser.
And no, God is not a shortened form of gold. You read the Bible as a certain snake.
And no, we need no more newwords nor newspeaks to destroy our language even more.
All what we need has always been here already in front of your large noses.
I was referring to a piece by Kipling re the torch. I don’t know where Britain stops and the US starts on the elite financial level. I believe that Quigley was correct in saying that the central bankers have a great deal of control over the world with their co-ordinated financial manipulations and there is an Anglo-American establishment. Your physiognomic observation is way off the mark in my case, I have to say.
That way is also ok. We could bring it further to The 300 and the like. But all of the same pot yes. Sorry but it was not an easy task to understand you were referring to good ol Kipling.
Kipling is very much misunderstood these days to say the least. I find his barrack room ballad type stuff pretty unreadable but there’s often a strain of immutable truth in there that the multikulties are allergic to. His freemasonry worries me but he makes no secret of it so one can integrate it into one’s understanding of his pronouncements.(Not very well said)
I ask myself from time to time, how the hell did I turn into such an OUTLIER or intellectual misfit?
where did I go wrong, or, depending on your point of view, RIGHT?
stories about people joining the army, or maybe more especially the Marine Corps, since anyway they seemed to have a reputation, at least during America’s southeast Asian adventure, for attracting potential independent thinkers, and then taking a sharp U turn into dissidence, are not uncommon
I wonder what exactly triggered a critical reevaluation in this case? was it some battlefield horror? just disillusionment when confronted with the gritty reality of the dirty business of war that diverged so much from the patriotic propaganda?
can other readers of this text identify will this sense of winding up in a place that they were not programmed to go, of being transformed in a dramatic Red Pilll Moment, or was it a more gradual drift to the other side?
You should applaud those who go to war so you can maintain your awesome lifestyle
but knowing that wars are being fought by the ‘ free West’ for no good reason has a very detrimental affect on our lifestyle- anguish, distress, anger
They are fought for a very good reason … and that is to compete with other nations for limited resources… if we fail to compete we end up like Somalia.
I suppose ya’ll are unaware of that when you join hands and prance about the campfire signing KOOMbaya and Give Peace a Chance.
If it makes you feel better once upon a time I took a similar stance to yours… but then I came to my senses and realized I was an idiot… war is NECESSARY.
You can follow my strategy https://fasteddynz.substack.com/p/wanna-be-right-all-of-the-time/
Ralph Nader once said that he wished people would think about politics in the same way that they think about sports
his point was that if a basketball player on your team isn’t hitting his shots anymore, fans won’t close their eyes to this fact or try to rationalize it away by making ideologically tinged excuses for the guy, but instead will call out his incompetence and demand that he be benched, ie, generally they will judge performance of those representing them objectively
of course on the other hand, and this Nader didn’t say afaik, the sports fan mentality is a perfect example of political blindness and hypocrasy, since the minute a star athlete gets traded from your team to your crosstown rival, he instantly morphs from hero into villain, and vice versa, because the norm is unwavering allegiance to a particular club, to a bunch of uniforms or “laundry” of a particular color, in no way distinguishable, substantively, from any other club, but deserving of loyalty to the death solely in virtue of it being “ours”
Exactly.
Teams = Jingoism.
the choice of the term “Homeland” as part of the name for that repressive state apparatus always seemed to me to be a tacit acknowledgment of an imperial mindset
an EMPIRE like Rome or Britain had far-flung swaths of territory it controlled through satraps, as well as a core zone subject to special administrative arrangements, the HOMELAND
after 9/11 the plan would be to set up a force complementary to the Pentagon, in terms of its geographical focus, since the military was technically limited to action strictly outside the national borders
US concepts even at the top are quite pitiful. Even on this site, we see comments that express the fears: if US not the hegemon any more, China will replace it. The leadership of China is uniformly (a) highly educated (b) high-IQ (c) under ongoing training and evaluation. They are not rabid partisan puppets. They study history extensively, and understand the fate of any hegemon.
Great article! I particularly liked the criticisms of the false hope in the alt media. That may be an American thing. I found it sickening all the people on MOATS, George Galloway’s show ( mostly Amercians) who kept saying that Israel had lost/was losing and now the world can see what Israel is like. It seemed pretty clear to me that Palestine was ‘ toast’ and all the parliaments in the ‘ free West’ were VILIFYING the poor Palestinians. I found it almost insulting /sick the way these pundits kept talking up the situation ( esp Miko Peled or whatever he is called).. However I am not sure that I agree with this statement:”.The will to believe and self-delusion are a large part of it” Freedom of speech has been greatly eroded in the ‘ free West’ including the USA. I find it easier to accuse people who are older like me and Edward Curtin of being in denial. However for people who were born in the eightites and later , I think it’s been a lot harder to access the truth now. We are now living in a very restrictive society now ( singular because it all seems tohave morphed into one in the ‘ free West’ / possibly globally. I love OFFG. It’s great to read articles like this and know that we’re not mad and that the politicans and MSM really are as wicked as they appear to be. For myself I have decided to look at the state of society today for never making the most of free speech when we had it . I never paid enough attention to Palestine or even Assange. It was only when the state came for me with the Covid restrictionsthat I hd to wake up and look rally hard at our society and what is happening. It’s been really good at least for me though. I don’t know how at Uni I didn’t realise that I was reading propaganda about the UK when I read the recommended text on the 3rd Reich. How it could be , I ask now, that the book failed to mention the RACE LAWS in the USA? or Nagassaki and Hiroshima. or Dresden bombings. Or Arthur Harris’ bombings in Kabul.
What? Are you spinning Goebbel’s line about Dresden being just a German cultural pearl of no military importance? So read Dresden im Luftkrieg, by Goetz Bergander, of about 1978, the standard work in German which has never been put into English. Bergander happened also to be in Dresden while it was being bombed.
Arthur Harris and Kabul? I think you are confusing Kabul with Irak, where Harris was involved in aerial bombing of Iraki tribes in the 1920s.
Of course, it could be (David Irving, AJP Taylor, and prior to that, Harry Elmer Barnes in the 1920s) that your mention of US-UK depredations is based on something more systematic as regards who caused WW1 and WW2?
Thanks for pointing out my mistake about Harris and Kabul. I meant to say the RAF bombing of Kabul. The ruler in Afghanistan was quick to point out the hypocrisy of the British. ( They had complained about Zeppelin bombings by the Germans of London). This is what wikipedia says: ” : King Amanullah objected to the British about the air raids on Kabul, citing British condemnation of the German Zeppelin attacks on London. In his letter to the British government he said, “It is a matter of great regret that the throwing of bombs by Zeppelins on London was denounced as a most savage act and the bombardment of places of worship and sacred spots was considered a most abominable operation, while now we see with our own eyes that such operations were a habit which is prevalent amongst all civilized people of the West.”
There is no way out of this malaise without Christ. I say that as an atheist, then red pilled, then black pilled, then born again. I have witnessed it first hand.
To realise the truth of the way the world is, and then to somehow go on living happily, positively, with hope and joy – is impossible. It would be fake. It would not be a true existence.
The only way to reach these states are when you realise who is at the root of it all. And give your life to Him.
He will give you rest, hope, peace and joy.
You cannot do it alone. You cannot do it without Him.
He is the healer. He is the saviour. The so called elites know it, haven’t you connected the dots yet atheists and agnostics.
All roads lead to Christ. The way, the truth, and the life.
Whoever loves his life will lose it, but whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life
John 12:25
But if Jesus saves, he’d better save himself.
thanks for the reminder, this is the new OffGuardian. nothing is free …
We got it for free and shall give it for free per advise of our Saviour. Free of charge by heart!
ALL organised religions have become (or perhaps have always been) merely tools for rulers to control and manipulate the populace, to give the people faux-philosophical justifications to give their total obedience to authority; for the people to accept miserable, impoverished lives on Earth in the hopes that they will finally be able to be happy in the afterlife, “you’ll get pie in the sky when you die”.
It may be that there is life after death. It may be that there is not. But all we know is that we have this life on Earth right here and now. So our goal should be to make the conditions of this life on this Earth as good as possible!
You do realise that it’s pointless telling me, and others who believe, that our God isn’t real? I’m not an idiot, I was skeptical my entire life until I saw for myself. It’s not merely belief, it’s a knowing.
That aside, you can’t be sure that every religion has been used as a tool for rulers. A lot of it certainly has. But you can’t know for certain that one of the religions is not correct, and all the others false.
If there was a God, it’s entirely plausible He created a guide book to help us follow.
Correct dear Paul just with one exception:
Not IF there was a God, but BECAUSE there was a God he would and did inform himself duly to us.
That certainly seems to be the case of the Catholic church and the C of E ( King Charles III and Welby)

Most western people in this month are too preoccupied with the upcoming Christmas celebration or, at least, with their family reunions, parties, buying and prepping tons of food and alcohol and, for many, with spending until it hurts. It’s a feverish business, like working a job or an assignment to a deadline. Hence they are wilfully happy and, therefore, wilfully ignorant of all the misery the rest of the world is suffering through. They do not want to be disturbed in their determined happiness.
So, the twofold life where some of us can’t talk – really talk – to those we are closest to is something we must get used to. We can write it down for posterity or make art; take a walk on the beach, cuddle our dog, or whatever. Though many have begun to realise that something is broken, at least since the Covid era, but of those people, the majority still choose to go along to get along, they continue to believe.
The Christmas Celebration – with the table piled high with food — is brought you by WAR. We won – to the victor goes the spoils.
Think about that when you dig in … and the Iraqi or the Syrian or the Afghan or the Libyan eats boiled shoe leather
Unfortunately true. Let’s all focus on peace with love and never give up!
How about we all join hands and sing KOOMbaya… war is good war is necessary.
I agree that war is necessary (unfortunately). But I think the reason goes much deeper than maintaining “the good life.” Humans have a blood lust – there’s no rational way to deny that. It may come from our Chimpanzee ancestry.
The proof is in the approval. Average, ordinary people never censure their military (or their police) – instead, they hold them in the highest esteem. Even in instances (like Afghanistan where after 20 years or Vietnam after almost 10 years) where no real benefit came to them, the public still supports its military. It may condemn a given war – but never will it condemn those who fight the war. As if it were possible to separate the war from the soldiers who make it possible.
(BTW, it’s a bit dicey responding to your comments because if you’re truly being satirical, you’ve hidden that satire way too carefully.)
Agree on the joy of killing – it’s in our DNA
I am not exactly sure why the US was in Afghanistan at all…
But with Vietnam…it was about demonstrating that the US will make a stand … communism needed to be opposed… communism is nasty stuff…
Did you know that the US actually won that war? Have you noticed how the Vietnamese have embraced the American system of capitalism? Vietnam is thriving … I was there just as the USSR was busting up in 1989… and Vietnam was nothing like it is now … it reeked of severe poverty
There seems to be a disconnect somewhere. Vietnam has become the new China in that it is the go-to place for cheap labor. That doesn’t sound like it’s left poverty behind.
Bear in mind also that it takes years for a broken environment – even in the tropics – to reestablish its ability to sustain a large population. Agent Orange is the gift that keeps on giving pain.
No there is still poverty just as there is in China … but there are fortunes being made and most Vietnamese are far better off….
(BTW – I know first had as I have visited Vietnam 20+ times since 1990)
Not that this matters… what matters is that the US won the Vietnam War.
Vietnam is a fully participating vassal state in the empire.
If there were no wars, how would the worst sadists achieve their goals of “self-actualisation”?
All wars are man-made. There’s never been an organic war – i.e., a war that just somehow started but no one knows how or why. Populations only oppose wars when they hit a little too close to home (as Vietnam); otherwise, they gladly support them.
Never were truer words spoken. Thank you Mr. Curtin. And as comments below speak, you do indeed have many comrades and friends within your exile group. Though we may think our words are not heard by those who should be listening, words of truth plant seeds of perception which can be triggered when events are seen for what they are. The Ancestors and their progeny that inform us open the doorways of perception. It may be hopium, but I am planting as many seeds as i can with the intent that a critical mass of understanding and solidarity can spur Humanity to take authority away from any leader class and it’s war & conflict capitalist operating system.
There is a grassroots self governing system that can unplug these monsters from ever doing this again. But it will take everyone working together to discuss, design, vet and implement such a system. It is as far as i can tell, the only future Humanity has. Let’s work on creating it!
How many Sellouts does it take to screw in a light bulb?
The perfect presidential candidate is a Rorschach test: people project what they want them to be. To sell out implies that Obama actually believed the things the people who voted for him thought he represented. He didn’t.
He purposely led people to believe he would pursue specific actions and policies (the list of these are in the background) and in that way deceived the votes who voted for him to execute those promises. I knew the classic bait and switch was coming as he gave little glimpses, like he “would bomb Iran”. Never the less the naivete, he did commit a fraud and sold out those who voted for him. Seeing that sellout should be an epiphany that awakens. Many did.
All politicians make promises, but once in office they are briefed by the military and only then told that they can’t keep many of those political promises.
Yep – and the military takes their orders from the board of directors – these fellas https://fasteddynz.substack.com/p/who-runs-the-world
That article is a brief but accurate summary of our evil ruling masters (international Zionists), spoilt by absurd leftist bigotry against ‘the British’ people per se (“…the British celebrate their long lost empire and take great pride in having put dozens of countries under their boot”).
I much prefer the Elders over the British… but then I do not have a proper school tie, buck teeth nor a surname like Jones or Smith.
The Elders reward MERIT… because of this I have done quite well under their empire
My father – who grew up under the British in Canada… did not do so well… back then you need a name like Smith or Jones to prosper
Recall that the British empire starved 10 million Indians at one point … and let’s not forget the Boers and the Irish…. now that was an evil empire
He had a great marketing campaign
I think he said he would close Gitmo. But he didn’t.
I voted for him. Twice, I think. Definitely in 2008.
I am appalled now.
I can’t even listen to him. Or any of them for that matter.
I don’t begrudge his four (or is it five) homes – DC, Chicago, Martha’s Vineyard, Hawaii – but, come onnnnnn, where does a former lawyer/Senator/President who has no “family money” get the money for four (or is it five) homes?
Martha’s Vineyard is an estate.
What is the point in closing it anyway? It’s the bad practices which must be stopped. And they came from the very top anywya
“…sold out those who voted for him?????”. Sold out those who voted for him. Say it again Sam:
Obama doubled the US Public debt of -10 trillion USD to -20 trillion USD during his time: Everybody loved Obama!
Sold those who voted for him……………..LOL
So those who voted for Obama were the good guys receiving 10 trillion more in their wallets, and next they cried over Obama bought himself a house more………………………………LOL.
The sheeple are World Champions in hypocrisy.
66 million voted for him and you think they did to get $10T? Oh really? Who was it that got the $10T? And hand full of the 1% maybe. But for you 65.99999M voted to get a chunk of $10T? Even Fox News s not that stupid..
The 66 mio absolutely voted and loved Obama for his -10 trillion USD. Anyone claiming the opposite is hit by cognitive dissonance.
Boy, the Haoles are out today in full regalia… cone hats for y’all!!!
Yep you’re right. I think that makes him worse…or does it?
Oh come on now … he’s an actor… just like the others… he had no real power
Critics say Barack Hussain is CIA born and bred. All his personal records remain sealed, and he certainly oozes their elitist mendacity and arrogance.
Was his success because he could speak English properly, for a change?
He apparently also was the top scorer for killing people using drones
Would you say one is a coward if one refuses to fight in a war while one’s fellow citizens march off to die to ensure you continue to live large?
Let’s break that down. Refuses to fight for what and who? That is the national security interests of corporations and the 1%. If others go off to fight for the corporations and 1% so the can “live large”, does that mean we should too? If everyone refused to go along with this fraud, there’d be no wars. You apparently want to cheer lead commoners sacrificing their lives for the sins of the 1%?
To fight for the resources that fuel your cushy lifestyle.
In case you had not noticed… every war… is a resource war…
If you get your way and your country does not fight for these resources … China gets them… Russia gets them…
And suddenly your country becomes weak… and then China and Russia see that… and thieve your resources
READ YOUR HISTORY.
YOU need to study history. Your conflict-to-win ideology mirrors that of capitalist ideology of battle with competitors, war as an operating system. You have no idea what lifestyle i have but claim it’s cushy. What’s your lifestyle grade? Do you make over $250k/yr and lay claim to being top 5%? Maybe you want to go kill some foreigners to prove your a “man”? All this bullshit you’re spouting is the typical tough guy facade projected upon commoners by the elite, so they’ll get us to fight and die for their stupid empire. I don’t bite. Go fish!
hahaha… would you like me to post my history reading list? I’d collapse this website if I did that so maybe I shall not…
Unless you reside in Mogadishu or similar… then you have a cushy lifestyle… we’ll use that to define cushy.
I most definitely enjoy a cushy lifestyle…I travel frequently as part of my end of days bucket list tour…I live in a house… I have AC… I have a vehicle… actually I just bought a second vehicle.. a 4 x 4 rig for my upcoming 2 month or so excursion into the outback of Aussie…. I have wifi.. a mobile phone…never go hungry… I do not have a Tee Vee though… why would I… why would anyone…
Ask yourself – why do you and I live as we do… with our homes and food and cars and flights and stuff… ask yourself… why you and not the folks in Mogadishu…
To simplify things… let’s go back in time and observe how pre humans behaved… courtesy of the guy who filmed the fake moon landings https://youtu.be/ypEaGQb6dJk
Humans have fought over land and water since the beginning of time…
Why? Because these are finite… and humans breed like rats… so we are always getting in trouble with overshoot. When that happens we kill each other …. always.
There has NEVER been peace. NEVER. There cannot be.
We always push the limits… therefore we need to compete for the resources… we need to KILL each other… to get more land more water more minerals more fossil fuels etc….
Of course you don’t do the fighting… you sit back and watch Dancing with Stars and silly Tik Tok videos… you go to the cinema… you go shopping … you fill up the SUV ….. and you demand PEACE!!
Do you not see how totally ridiculous you are hahaha… jeez…
Men (and some women) go out into the dangerous world… to fight for the limited resources… they risk their lives… so you can fill up the SUV and go shopping….
And you shit on them… you suggest they do this ‘to prove they are men’.
No.
They do this so that the hordes do not swarm over YOUR borders (see Syria) and destroy your country and pillage its resources.
Let’s listen to what Jack Nicholson says about this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FnO3igOkOk
He is not quite right — you cannot handle the truth … that is correct … but worse – you cannot understand the truth. You are living in a delusional world…
A Clown World… where you believe we can join hands and sing KOOMbaya and dance around a camp fire… that we can have peace… that war is stupid and useless…
It’s a damn good thing there is no democracy… cuz if people who believe the nonsense that you do ever got into power… your country would be overrun in a matter of days…
The Chinese and Russians would rejoice if America and her vassal states we call NATO … raised the peace flag and declared — we will NEVER go to war again.
If there is any part of this that you do not understand … feel free to ask for help .. I am here to help you deal with reality
If you cannot handle reality then I recommend Xanax
Then why not go out in a flame of glory and fight in Ukraine, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Congo, or some other US/CIA bonfire of the vanities, to supposedly protect your and whoever you consider worthy’s cushy lifestyle? Because you are human sellout, a Gollum that likes to condemn the working poor and economically exploited to sign up, kill & die for you. Your comments are totally ignorant, immoral and reflect the minds of those who occupy roles as leaders of US empire, sociopathic monsters. Have a nice day, a-hole.
I don’t even think that what he says makes sense. I really don’t see why the Nato/globalist/WEF wars are necessary. He really hasn’t explained why.
Too clever for me. As Michael Moore pointed out in his documentary, are the children of the legislators and ultra-wealthy on the front lines?
Let we who live in internal exile save this piece so that we can be reminded that we are not alone Thank you Edward Curtin
I can’t help wondering if maybe it’s a special genetic coding that allows some but not all citizens to carry out their everyday routines yet thoroughly despise everything which makes those routines possible. If not for an innate ability to compartmentalize such a perspective, it would be a schizophrenic way of living – and may very well be at least part of why most people refuse even to consider it.
The very structure of civilization makes peace all but impossible. Without a constant supply of resources no civilization can sustain itself for long. “I want what you have” is the lynchpin holding every civilization together. And it’s corollary is “But I’m not willing to give you what I have in return.”
The question then becomes: is keeping civilization intact worth all the carnage? No one today can say simply “I want no part of civilization so I will go where there is none.” For there is no place on Earth any longer not locked within a civilizational prison. Even the top of Mt. Everest has a garbage problem.
Civilization – progress, comfort, development, etc. – means an ongoing rise in the consumption of resources. Unlike “stupid shiftless” aborigines. Western propaganda never tires of repeating that Evil Hitler wanted to expand eastwards. Most governments have been trying to do just that: expand. They are envious of the one country that does not need to: Russia.
Absolutely. I had seen a chart of sorts showing what percent of the world’s resources the major nations have. Assuming it was correct, Russia has 75% of the world’s resources. (I haven’t bothered to retrieve that chart because, given the complete lack of subtlety in Google’s AI creature, I doubt if I could find it again.)
I see no Western governments seeking physical expansion today, except for fascist Zionists and Greater Israel. But I do see government expansion within borders (i.e. growing power and control over plebs). I’m thinking of the EU government subsuming once sovereign nations, and US Federal government reducing the states’ independence.
“The very structure of civilization makes peace all but impossible.” Even if civilisations were long periods of war punctuated by outbreaks of peace (the opposite is historically true), this claim would still be false.
Bravo! That word may seem a bit out of place for your tome, however, you have brilliantly and boldly stated what many of us know as the truth of this world and how we have to maneuver in it in order to have any kind of a life. “Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden – to buy their lies is to be a fool.”. Bold, unadulterated truth. Bravo!
I was in the Army in 1964. I read this the other day, copied and pasted it to my Google Notes so I don’t avoid forgetting these three armies. “A great war leaves the country with three armies – an army of cripples, an army of mourners, and an army of thieves.”
German Proverb
Now that’s a good German expression! DO you know that one about the justice system? Summat like in legal proceddings and on the high seas we’re in God’s hands!! I think it’s great. I don’t think that there is a similar English one. Sorry. Going off on a tangent I know
RE: These days, many more people have been forced to discover the twofold life where they can’t talk to the people in their lives about many issues – politics, wars, Covid, etc. Something has broken. Almost everything.
Thank you for articulating the malaise I have been feeling. But I find the exile more than just “twofold.” It seems that I have to gauge what can be discussed with each person depending on what I perceive as their particular indoctrination. (Which means I am always walking on eggshells.) With my liberal coworkers, I can only talk about the most trivial things. With my conservative friends I can talk about the corruption of liberals but not how both Parties sell us the same wars. With my former health freedom comrades, I can talk about the absurdity of the lockdown policies and other Liberal Pieties but to challenge the Lab Leak Theory is a bridge too far.
Absolutely spot on. I have the same experience with friends and family. A whole host of “things we cannot say”. Like you said: “walking on eggshells”. It’s exhausting and dispiriting.
It’s depressing to spend more than a few hours with my extended family for this reason. So I rarely do.
I am pleasantly surprised by how many people where I live ( France) are sceptical about Covd, the govt, MSM and the war in Ukraine. You wouldn’t believe it if you judged the country by what you see on MSM ( total BS lieve everywhere else in MSM in the ‘ free West’. I have a lot of contact with people working in big companies. You would expect such places to be full of ‘ capatalists ‘ or people who are fearful of voicing their opinions on these subjects…but they are not! Some French pyschotherapist wrote a book a while back called ‘ Bonjour paresse’ which encourages people at work to do nothing because professional lives in big corporations are so meaningless. I wonder if the changes we are all hoping for in Off G can come. Maybe it will? I do know this. Things were definiltey better as far as freedom of pseech goes before the noughties
Most humans are content to live a superficial life of illusion until their bubble bursts. It’s painfully obvious during this season of “Peace on Earth.”
What’s superficial about Christians praying for peace?
To take a LSD trip for peace is absolutely not superficial. It is love. Make love with your long one, and not war. This is peace!
You are right. It is really strange to see some people having the same issues and being able to write them here. There is no one around where I am. It is quite precise as you write.
Excellent article, thanks Edward Curtin for writing it and OffGuardian for publishing.
I commend Mr Curtin, and anyone else, with the compassion and sensitivity to live in ‘internal exile’. I too have lived this way for many years, after studying the poets and not the warmongers of the death cult running ‘civilisation’. How could we, as lovers of life and the magnificent beauty of creation, not?
However, this ‘inner exile’ only ensures our victimhood in the long run. Covid 1984 changed the game for me. It became clear that the governments of the world had declared another war, the final war, on its own citizens. Determined to kill, or enslave their own populations. Reading the UN’s ‘Agenda 2030’ is confirmation of this stark fact (the black pill). I realised the ‘inner exile’ was not going to change anything in the big picture, yet knew, after years of ‘activism’ also, that confronting the Devil, only brought more enslavement (courts, fines, jail time) to me. It also isolated me more, as I learned that when I turned to others to support me in fighting injustice, they generally turned the other way, scared to get involved. I don’t blame them; how do you, in reality, fight a beast with ‘space weapons’!? Even the ‘2nd Ammendment’ is futile in reality, as an Assault Rifle is sadly ineffective against an Intercontinental Ballistic Nuclear Missile. Add to that fact, I’m a lover, not a fighter, and violence only begets more violence.
The conclusion I have come to is that the solution lies in ‘exiting and building’. I will no longer feed the beast or ‘work for the man’, he is Not my King. I have not paid a penny in taxes since March 2020, I closed my bank account after they asked me for my ‘biometric ID’ (Triodos Bank, the supposedly ‘ethical bank’, who is a partner of the WEF), and am actively involved in building an alternative society, based on the love of life and respect for All living things. To paraphrase Thoreau, in a time of a corrupt and immoral society, the only place left for those of moral character to be is in jail. I’m willing to do that time, should it be necessary.
Last night I slept well, exiled inside and outside the system, with 2 hot water bottles, on a pillow of a clear conscience, knowing my ‘taxes’ had not paid for a single chemtrail, or bullet or bomb that took the life of another child, or bird, in Gaza.
Peace
What’s all this black pill and red pill stuff please? Alice in Wonderland?
Thank you. People who think they are brilliant because they say black pill red pill are sadly misinformed.
Would-be manipulaters seed clever phrases into broadcasts, social media, etc., sometimes in novel contexts. When expressing ourselves, we only need to ask whether a new phrase is necessary or innovative, before spreading it further. Conversely, do we fear that we appear out of touch by sticking to older expressions.
Its just an expression from the film Matrix.
It describes the difference between the factual reality and the sleep/illusion world.
As most people are either asleep or to some degree awake, it makes sense to refer to a concept people can see clearly in a Hollywood movie.
Some times they make good films in Hollywood, not all films all the time but some films some of the time.
Yeah, and in the film Matrix, “reality” is a Lennie Kravitz video.
Matrix is a crappy movie made for children. Those who quote it–are children.
Nah, its actually a well thought out film about what Big Tech say and talk about of today.
Big Tech claim we will be living in a mental floating state between fantasy and reality, as people will collect all reality only from all the screens.
If you think any Hollywood claptrap is a “well thought out” film, you need to go back to school.
Really? What’s wrong with ” the firm” starring Tom Cruise or Born on the x of July ( I ‘m sorry i can’t remember when American Independence Day is) Also starring Tom Cruise. Rainman is ok too ( also starring Tom Cruise)
OMG! I have to see it now regardless of Reevs’ performance ( if infact he is in it!!)
I s he the unattractive man who was engaged to Julai Roberts …or is that someone else?
Thanks very much. I never saw the film because I believe it has Keanu Reeves in it. Has the guy learned how to act ? I thought his performance was really terrible in the films I have seen ( a rromantic Comedy with Jack Nicholson and Diane what’s her name about love) and Dangerous Liasions. However I keep heraing it’s rally good. So would you mind telling me which pill makes you see rality as it is and which does not? ( or does it not matter?)
Best keep that assault rifle handy. FEMA and other government agencies won’t be using nukes when they come to imprison you and your community, and shoot your animals.
If I didnt know better, i;d convince myself that they are still enforcing the Monroe Doctrine, which can only lead to bad things in the end.
They are continuing to pillage the world – on your behalf…
I’d say ‘they’ are Zionists and they pillage the world by controlling governments, global banking, education, Hollywood, mass media, various Islamist groups, and most other westetn institutions.
And your point is????
This is what empires do – the British pillaged the planet murdering anyone who stood in their way… as did the Romans
Why are you so pissed off with the Elders?
At last you have said something I agree with!!
I actually don’t care if anyone agrees with me – unless they are able to demonstrate that I am wrong on something …
Because then I will do what few are willing to do https://fasteddynz.substack.com/p/wanna-be-right-all-of-the-time/
I don’t think they are Zionists. Just globalists psychopaths. True Zios would do things for Israeli citizens. As far as I am aware they force dthe Israelis to take Covid vaccines…and we know what most people on this site think about those vaccoines!
No arguing with anything in your very human essay. And ‘death cult’ is not too strong. If there are ‘goods’ to be found where we find ourselves now, perhaps it’s that more people recognize the truth. I take solace in what we can’t see, the larger movements of Universe that appear to be pushing us in a new direction.
Despite the history laid out here, life is to be trusted and your voice is an example of that. It’s not easy to see through the lies while simultaneously living a wholly different set of values. What we do matters, even in such a distorted context. Thank you for knowing that.
Dear Sir, all you say resonates with me and many others. However, your cry soon becomes redundant, because no way out is envisaged. It’s not wrong for you to say it out loud. But like with so many contributors on OG and other platform, one gets a sense of desperation and helplessness.
It’s funny because many feel quite pleased to endlessly vent their frustration; it fills the void they must feel inside, the absurdity of it all…
Strangely, the awsers are staring everyone in the face, the founding fathers of the American Republic even put clear provisions in the preamble of the constitution to that effect. But it would require more than words to take effect…
You say “it would require more than words to take effect..” Yet the very document you single out consists of nothing but words. Everything human begins with words. They are the first thing a child is taught and the instrument of everything he is further taught. Even in war, the absolute essential, above any weapon, is communication – words.
Never underestimate the power of words.
I saw a brilliant lecture given by a German lecturer called Rainer Mausfel on Youtube the other day. So far as I can recall he posits the view that the founding fathers didn’t believe in democracy at all and were keen on creating the illusionof democracy to keep the troublesome ‘ commoners’ in their place
The difference between US Constitution and EU’s boring Founding papers is extreme.
The American Independence Declaration is unique and rightfully admired and tried to copied along many nations.
If we rely on paper it is certainly not the worst paper or document on the planet ever written :-D.
The problem seems more to try to live after the good principles, and this dilemma goes even for the Bible book too.
Go on….
Well, that’s the thing: it’s no longer permissible to discuss certain things, such as the insurrectionist implications of the second Amendment. Not sure why you thing I should tell you all about it.. Pretty obvious what it meant.
No, nowadays good folks vent their frustrations about everything online, they even rage at those poor fools in Syria, Iraq or elsewhere who don’t take a stance against Leviathan!
Whilst they whine about injustice in far away lands, their own government make the most mondaine form of protest illigal–think January 6, for example.
See how far these sleepwalkers have gone from the original vision espouse D by the likes of John Locke and Jeferson.
You already went into mental self-exile because Trump has not yet been inaugurated for his second run. His first one was heavily sabotaged; the interbellum booby-trapped. By listing him with known warmongers you have created your own (woke?) limited hangout.
Deep State / WEF loves you: good boy!
Trump published a Tweet this week about Syria. He was so oblivious about what was going on that he didn’t seem to realise that US interests had already helped instigate the coup. It emphasised yet again that the POTUS doesn’t really run the show. I hope his alleged instincts against wars are true, but when a leader has no grasp of history, no political beliefs and no diplomatic filter then I fear they’ll have no resistance to those with an agenda who’ll be whispering in his ear.
The sad thing is that he is inevitably better than Biden who couldn’t even finsih his sentences. The WEF are just laughing at us!
Why does he need to know ? He has zero power
Reportedly, Trump had a major fight with the CIA when he ended the US funding of Islamist groups in Syria during his first administration. If so, he knows much more than he is now letting on. Is he playing MIGA to deliver MAGA, of the reverse? We will soon see.
Yes, and maybe we should also back him up a little in these fights yes? Just saying.
I would say Operation Warp Speed is a good example of warmongering.
Lots of dead and wounded to prove it.
Fauci’s deception, not Trump. You are 100% woke.
And you’re 100% hilarious.
But still more correct; I think Fauci served DARPA more than the reverse.
OWS was a DoD operation long pre-existing Trump.
Got to say the comments section has suffered a little since the dipshits at zerohedge started duplicating offG articles on their website.
You mean The Father of the Vaccines? hahahahahaha Played you’ve been
He is an ACTOR
Trump has promised to release all files concerning JFK, 9/11 and Epstein. According to many analysts, these truths will all incriminate ‘our greatest ally’, opening the path to freedom from the Zionist yoke. Let’s see if he dares.
Obama, the smiling mass murderer.
But they’re all the same aren’t they?
$ATAN$ $UITED $LUT$.
You are a man of exceptional wisdom Ed.
Peace be with you.
But the murdering was on your behalf – where do you think you’d be if America did not murder and pillage so you can have the resources to power your awesome lifestyle?
So when is the Empire gonna strike out?
You are part of the empire …. what part of that do you not understand?
‘The Empire’ is not a moral agent; its various elite rulers are, and they don’t include Johnny AFAIK.
“I am in the world but not OF the world”
(Jesus somebody).
In other words; The ‘world’ is man made, the EARTH (what we’re made of) is LIFE made, manifested.
Who said that? The weakling spiked to the cross?
The meek inherit a boot on the neck
Who said that?
The ‘l’ that KNOWS.
Instead of just believing.
I believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy — at least they deliver
Check their DNA.
Think you’ll find you’re related to them.
Feel free to keep praying to the man in the sky .. and giving him money (cuz he is all powerful but he needs money)
Let me know how that works out for you
Eddy, my lord and master.
Nice one!!!
We are part of the empire???? We are NOT. The ‘power elites’ have got the empire/ enjoy the fruits of the empire. We are the slaves. We get forced into taking vaccines and being put into lockdowns and banned from demonstrated and are not allowed to express our opinons about anything
“bloodbath in Syria and Lebanon led by our ruthless terrorists”
thank you immensely Edward Curtin.
it is a bleak moment in history that GENOCIDE gets a standing ovation at the US congress.
