WATCH: Escaping Energy Poverty – #SolutionsWatch

Did somebody say “small modular, molten fuel salt, thorium fuel cycle, thermal spectrum, breeder reactors”? Well, guess what? Somebody said it. And maybe it’s happening soon! So, what does that mean? Good question!

Today on Solutions Watch, James talks to Thomas Pedersen of Copenhagen Atomics about their next gen small modular reactors and how independent communities of the future will be powered.

So there’s a shortage of toilets on the US aircraft carrier the Gerald R. Ford, and sailors are complaining about it – the carrier is now off the coast of Israel – getting into position for an attack on Iran – of course when a hypersonic missiles slams into the carrier during the coming war on Iran, sailors won’t need a toilet to take a dump.

Some years ago I respected James, but then he started catering to his American audience and….not good.

I’m not following regularly Corbett report anymore, anyhow, this episode certainly goes into crap category.

Reactors for independent agoristic community….holy Mary and all saints….

What a reactor needs to work:

  • heavy water
  • uranium 235 enriched 5%
  • highly enriched lithium7
  • thorium (last three in the form of fluoride salt)

Yeah, you’ll get this stuff in your closest Home depot …..no….you’ll get it, period. And beside reactor container, you’ll need neutron shielding, heat exchanger, turbine, generator….Home depot…no, they are crony whatever….from other agorist community…..never mind, you’ll get it because you are guided and empowered by your agoristic faith.

Enough of cynicism and sarcasm, lets get for real.
Thomas Pedersen gave a salesman speech. He didn’t give not a glimpse of answer to crucial question (21:40): How they will clean molten salt of byproducts that are slowing down breeding and nuclear reaction. Cleaning must be done and this is probably a chemical process, but a process at high temperatures, high radiation, high corrosivenessand at the end byproducts must be taken away from enclosure, byproduct that are highly radioactive…this is not a piece of cake. I’ve watched/read enough about MSR and this topic is always skipped, interesting indeed. I have a feeling MSR is similar to fusion, always few years down the road.

Huge problem of MSR is also metallurgy, molten salts are highly corrosive. I never heard what are they using for gaskets. I hope a reactor in the video is just a mock-up, I wouldn’t trust those welds never ever.
I wonder why the website says highly enriched lithium7 when natural lithium is already above 90% “enriched”. If they need more that means expensive isotope separation.

The whole idea of modular reactors is very dubious. MSR reactors are more safe regarding the meltdown, however they are technologically way more complex than classical reactors, hence many more things can break down and you end up with “mini neighborhood” Fukushima. And many small modular reactors all around result in shit guaranteed, if you’re lucky not in your backyard.
Nuclear waste is a big problem regularly diminished by proponents of nuclear energy. Salesman said “storing for 300 years” and then what, dump-yard…I doubt.

How will agoristic communities be powered…what a non-question.

Agoristic idea has a fatal flaw, it has no strategy how to re-connect with normies that are increasingly drowned in propaganda, but that is the only way to ensure viability on the long run. In military lingo, having your own source of power is just one among myriad of tactics for survival.

However, Sun Tzu:
“Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.”

Why is coal a resource? Because it is there just right in front of our noses to be used.
What could go on? Just asking.

This is comical – Trump calls CSPAN news using his well known alias John Barron, to complain about the Supreme Courts judgement on his (Trump’s) dodgy tariffs, which the Supreme Court ruled illegal.

Listen to him talk below.

Brian Allen (@allenanalysis): “https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f6a8.svg NO WAY https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f62d.svg “John Barron” just called @CSPAN to complain about the Supreme Court nuking Trump’s tariffs. Yes — that John Barron. The fake name Trump used for decades. They cut him off mid-call. https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f480.svgYou cannot make this up. https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f602.svghttps://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f974.svg” | nitter.poast.org

Whatever new and all but free energy sources are, if not discovered – then marketed by individuals who want give the masses cheap energy, those people will be discredited their technologies will be pillared, and then bought by the oil companies, and if they don’t play ball – they’ll be killed just like Tesla was, and their inventions will be stuffed in some filing cabinet deep in the bowels of some big oil records room, never to see the light of day.

Its not as if hasn’t happened before.

Dual-use technology. They’ll fit in perfectly with the coming 15-Minute
Cities, while are also ideal for decretralised communities… But if
introduced into the industrialised economies just to produce more and
more commodities, they dont fit into the degrowth paradigm…

James doesn’t live in the real world selling you dud solutions.

If you want to sell your house within the EU and UK you need all the certifications that your house is on the grid and energy compliance.

it makes it a nightmare repeat NIGHTMARE to sell otherwise.

Solutions Watch get in the real fucking world.

IRAN SITUATION
Meryl Nass published larrycJohnson substack article:
–Dark of the moon ends after Sunday, which is best time for bombers to avoid anti-aircraft fire. Next dark period is mid-March.
–New poll has confirmed that US casualties in Iran would sink midterm elections.
–State of the Union is Tuesday & if war no one will listen cuz obsessed w war news
–Trump’s advisors are telling him to accept the Iranian deal he already turned down, pretending that it’s a new deal & his threats worked.

That is, he should pretend that Iran blinked.

Another factor outside of this article: UK rescinded US access to their airbases, saying that attacking another country is a violation of international law. (Maybe also cuz they don’t want to be recipients of Iranian missiles.)

Israel continues to push for attack. Likely outcome: If not Sunday, no war right now.

For energy poverty non can in more dire straights than Dark Green led Germany or Holland: the former has 21% gas reserves and the latter 14% today. They also use gas to generate a lot of electricity, so double whammy coming up.

The Green radicals now depend on prayer to their gods, hope and luck with the weather. As they keep on writing about every year that it was warmer than the last, they should be good emotionally. A frozen woke will still not come to her senses….

A lot of smokescreening there. The classic technique of, not lying, just omitting to mention, certain things, is of course in full swing.
The fuel is still Uranium, which is produced from the Thorium, and the waste products are still dangerous for long times, 500 years half-life kind of figures.
If you wish you and your descendants to live their lives on top of an unstable crust, with its earthquakes and volcanoes and shifting tectonic plates, in which are buried thousands of tons of radioactive nuclear waste, then carry on and follow these simple and hubristic, not wise, technologists.
And, ‘Energy-Poverty’? This can be looked at from two ends. Our ancestors could live full and useful and contented lives using, as a conservative estimate, a tenth of the energy to which we’ve become accustomed, energy that we squander and convince ourselves we absolutely need for uses and habits that are more and more unintelligent.

Economic history of England says that the island would have run out of an energy source due to centuries of clear-cutting of first growth forest had coal not been discovered as a way of driving steam engines, heating houses, et cetera these are the “ancestors” you are referring to, your comment? Are you saying that your ancestors in 1750 used 10 times less energy than you do? If they did, they still managed to run out of wood.

In China alone dies 11 mio people each year.
If we consider our fossil dinosaur oil to be limited, we can add human bodies to this biological circle by burring the full bodies globally in deep underground caves whereafter they will develop into fossil oil in a hundred years = unlimited oil to the end of time!

Man, you be right on the money, and thassa fact!

Yes. A. Thorium is deadly dangerous poison. B. We waste energy and they want us to waste more, so’s they can build thorium plants, when simple conservation/efficiency would solve all our energy shortage problems and then some.

Notice how we NEVER EVER get articles or interviews about energy conservation and energy efficiency. NEVER.

No money in it.

Those evil-doing Satanic Iranians claim they have no intention of
using their Atomic Energy Program to develop nuclear weapons…
So why doesnt POTUS Trump offer those evil Israeli-nightmares
a swap – their nuclear program for some Thorium Molten Salt
Reactors ? He’s famed for making Deals, so why dont he ?

My god. First you refuse to admit what enormities the Epstein files reveal.

Now your pushing nuclear power.

What a load of shit.

Thorium is no better than any other nuclear power. Your expert’s job depends on his defending the indefensible.

Fie. Fie on you.
