Like OffG? We need your help to keep going
Hi all. So here’s the deal.
Last December we lost our Patreon and with it a huge percentage of our income.
About 60%.
Since then we have been running on a shoestring.
Following our covid19/11 series we had further video and podcast projects we were forced to cancel because we could not afford to pay our video editors for their time.
All our income since then has been going on simply keeping the site ticking over.
To make matters worse we are now reliant on PayPal for almost all of our remaining income. With PayPal’s planned “new conditions” regarding “misinformation that may cause harm”, we could soon be banned from there also. If that were to happen now we would essentially be dead in the water.
So, we are making some major changes in the way we can be funded.
Below you can find our new simplified donation form powered by Donorbox and Stripe, which will appear at the bottom of each new article.
We’re also now on two Patreon alternatives, Ko-Fi and SubscribeStar.
But this means nothing without your support.
You see, unlike some other alt media we really do not have any source of funding other than reader contributions.
We don’t have any well-placed supporters who send us monthly pay checks.
We don’t have “connections” in the establishment
We don’t have wealthy political friends.
All we have is you.
We understand times are tough for everyone, but if each visitor gave us just 10 pence/cents per month our financial problems would be over.
It’s just that most don’t.
…And that’s fine by the way!
We want people to access our content for free, and we don’t want anyone to feel obliged to pay just to read the information we provide, which is why we have never, to date, put anything behind a paywall, even temporarily.
But the bottom line is, looking forwards, if we can’t get back the income we lost from Patreon we won’t be able to continue running OFFG.
So, if you value what we do – now really is the time to show it.

You did stellar work in the first year of the pandemic and I’m grateful for that. But quite honestly, 90% of the stuff you post nowadays is either boring opinion or articles that can be found elsewhere with far more lively debate allowed (Iain)..
I am truly sorry about what the payment platforms are doing, but you’re not making things easier for yourselves by having admins come in and admonish commenters for challenging your narratives or disappearing the comments altogether in Guantanamo spam filter.
I have often posted things critical to their editorial choices, but haven’t been deleted. And I agree with you that a few articles are mindless drivel that add very few for the discerning minds.
However, I don’t It is about what you say, but how you build your argument. For example if say “such nonsense like Riley” and don’t really explain exactly why It should be such a nonsense, while at the same time you mention the Valdai Club but fail to see why OffG should pay attention to it (more thats being done by other alt media) …. Um, my explanation of why Riley was nonsense never got through…..I did provide it as well as an argument of Riley’s thesis more generally. .
If you look at his last article carefully, it was nothing more than a couple of paragraphs machine translated from other articles, a handful of links and a whole lot of spooky looking photos of……CCTVs. I’d be embarrassed to send such a shoddy piece of “journalism” to OG.
What Riley does (and he does it quite well) is to counter the narrative “bad yankee/good rusky” by exposing all those pieces of mainstream journalism that are often “overlooked” and show exactly how Russia is following the same agenda as everyone else.
In other words, he gives us a glimpse of the news that get routinely published in the russian mainstream but never truly become visible to the western world. In doing so, he builds a coherent picture of a country that does no better than the West on many WEF/UN agendas.

There are some excellent articles on the site. If an enterprise is run on a tight budget, has relatively limited reach, requires donations from the readers to survive and you criticise it because the articles are not consistently at some arbitrary standard you’ve set, then you are an odious moron. Not a great combo.
I don’t see the harm if the admins sometimes have strong-ish words to say about a comment or commenter. Why wouldn’t you expect them to express their opinion in the same way you do?
As for the censorship, that’s not my experience of the site.
You see I’ve never resorted to calling people “odious morons” but on the rare occasion, a critical comment of mine got through, I received a whole lot of name calling. I would have thought OG would have limited its censorship to stuff like calling people “odious morons”. As long as a comment is written carefully, follows some logic in its syntax and is free of name calling and personal insults, it ought to get through. Ha! Just tried to donate but the wonderful HSBC thought it was fraudulent and blocked it. Now it just hangs on the processing icon until the verification robot tick expires… Lol. They really don’t like you guys do they?
Ooof that’s a shame. I did a test donation and the captcha expired on that too. But I refreshed the page and then it went straight through.

works better with 8-12 nite lites laid in a circle in a Pyrex oven dish and two terracotta pots one smaller than the other upside down the smaller inside the bigger pot. 100 nite lites that burn for 4 hours each are about £4. i can’t imagine one candle being enough and two pots acts as a better heat sink, this works very well btw
ps 100 nite lites used to be £2 a year ago in one of the big 4 super markets, 10% inflation? excuse my maths but isn’t that a 100% mark up?
