This article was originally published six years ago, at the height of Covid hysteria. I remember writing it in a couple of hours, fueled by shocked outrage.
The paper I was responding too was the stuff of nightmares, filled with horrific newspeak language made all the more appalling by its coy euphemisms.
I wanted to bring it back today because, while the article I responded to was about Covid at the time, the idea predates the “pandemic” by several years.
This toxic idea has not gone away, even if you haven’t heard it in a while. It’s being debated in ethics journals to this day.
And, as you sit in sweating in the summer heat, and the news gives blaring updates about alleged record temperatures and heatwave death tolls, remember that the original “defectors” who needed “covert moral enhancement” …were climate change sceptics.

Four days ago the Conversation – an “independent source of news and views, sourced from the academic and research community” – published an article headlined:
‘Morality pills’ may be the US’s best shot at ending the coronavirus pandemic, according to one ethicist
The article’s author is Parker Crutchfield, an Associate Professor of Medical Ethics, Humanities and Law at Western Michigan University, and his argument can be broken down into four key points:
- Wearing masks and social distancing are good for public health
- People who refuse to follow these rules are “defectors” who need to be “morally enhanced”
- This moral enhancement can be achieved with medication to make people more “empathetic” and “co-operative”
- This medication should be compulsory and/or administered secretly via the water supply.
I swear I’m not exaggerating. Not even a little bit. To absorb the full horror I suggest you read it for yourself (and then read the comment section as well, it will make you feel better) but, if you’re not so inclined, here are some choice quotes:
like receiving a vaccine to beef up your immune system, people could take a substance to boost their cooperative, pro-social behavior.
Moral enhancement is the use of substances to make you more moral. The psychoactive substances act on your ability to reason about what the right thing to do is, or your ability to be empathetic or altruistic or cooperative.
These substances interact directly with the psychological underpinnings of moral behavior […] Then, perhaps, the people who choose to go maskless or flout social distancing guidelines would better understand that everyone, including them, is better off when they contribute, and rationalize that the best thing to do is cooperate.
Another challenge is that the defectors who need moral enhancement are also the least likely to sign up for it […] a solution would be to make moral enhancement compulsory or administer it secretly, perhaps via the water supply.
This isn’t just a panicked response to an unforeseen emergency, Crutchfield’s area of bioethics research focuses on “questions like how to induce those who are noncooperative to get on board with doing what’s best for the public good”, and a look through his articles reveals that this is an agenda which pre-dates our current “pandemic”.
There’s The epistemology of moral bioenhancement from 2016 and then Compulsory moral bioenhancement should be covert from just last year.
This isn’t just about masks, if it were implemented it would be a lot more far-reaching. From masks to vaccines to anything else, beyond even the “pandemic”. The author admits as much himself [our emphasis]:
But a strategy like this one could be a way out of this pandemic, a future outbreak or the suffering associated with climate change.
Happy Pills in our water to make us proper cooperative citizens? “Covert moral enhancement” to produce “superior post-persons”?
That is literally “Soma” from Huxley’s Brave New World. It can’t be satirized or exaggerated. It is the very zenith of dystopian horror. And it is being seriously suggested by research scientists in apparently respectable publications.
This may be just one article in a comparatively small (and murkily funded) magazine, but that’s how it starts.
Of course, it also further feeds into the stream of propaganda which seeks to dehumanise those who express dissent.
We’ve already been told that “defectors” are more likely to be narcissists or psychopaths, and seen them subject to police brutality with total impunity.
New Zealand are setting up “quarantine centres” where you will have to stay “indefinitely” if you refuse a to be tested.
And now it’s being seriously posited that those who refuse to comply should be subject to covert medication to render them more malleable to the “public good”.
It’s not hard to see where this is going. Show this article to everyone you know. People have to be told what their world is being turned into, while we still have the brainpower to stop it.

I doubt that even distillation will remove dissolved compounds. Coal power plants spew mercury and even a bit of uranium into air. Mining spews heavy metals, most of it into water. Plastic nano-particles from incineration ultimately lodge in our vital organs.
But at least the medical and insurance industries stand ready to help, overseen by benevolent democracies.

I’m not even a soccer (football) fan and what they are doing, stated in the article, is disgusting. It’s why, although I love sports, I no longer watch professional sports. It’s so blatantly over-blown and financially captialized. It’s beyond ridiculous.
Sad. However, there is still a grea deal of heart, passion and love of the sport in youth, high school, and for the most part, college sports.

One trend I’ve noticed in this “heatwave” is the constant emphasis of how infrastructure starting with housing, schools and hospitals are unfit. Hear the ker-ching? Maybe houses wouldn’t be such “heat traps” if they hadn’t been forced to be stuffed with insulation and maybe most modern schools should be built with windows that open more than an inch? The same goes for “justice”. So-called “justice departments” usually deal in systematic injustice.

I remember this like it was yesterday, which it’s quite possibly been with the updated conditioning, among all the other stranger-than-science-fiction reality begun six years ago, which may as well be for many six centuries down the memory hole with the never-ending rabbit holes since then. Not so much with the defector designation, however, but the DSM diagnosis of oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), though that may be due to what I’m drinking.
Whatever political or psychological classification made up for us, water supply of “psychoactive substances (that) act on your ability to reason about what the right thing to do is, or your ability to be empathetic or altruistic or cooperative” – as in numbing and dumbing you down – might be considered old school with such tradition as fluoride treatment to…uhhh…make your teeth stronger and brain weaker. Of course, the covid vax’s breach of the blood-brain barrier can morally enhance you just as well to march along with the zombie apocalypse.
The comparison with Soma in Brave New World also recalls these words of Huxley: “There will be in the next generation or so a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them but will rather enjoy it.”
“You will own nothing, and be happy (WEF)”. Yes, both Huxley and Orwell got it right.
But I believe the pain will still be there but not in the open. It will be normie to suffer in silence or have ‘defects’, suicides will raise.
Many meds and especially jabs could breach all sorts of barriers including those protecting vital organs. Government does not examine the claims of safety. After deterioration, the gut barrier allows the passage of undigested food, pathogens or plastic particles into blood, causing many illnesses. To get rid of it in fluoride in drinking water, Reverse Osmosis. Dr, Mercola thinks you can absorb as much by showering in fluoridated water; don’t know if he’s correct… Whole-house RO water might be best for that reason.

To get rid of fluoride already in the body, use Iodine. Iodine is probably the most common deficiency worldwide. Fuoride & Bromine are both harmful halogens that displace Iodine, which is needed to form thyroid hormone, which determines the level of all the other hormones.
Many people when beginning Iodine have a herxheimer reaction: The Iodine displaces the bromine & fluoride at a rate greater than the kidneys can get rid of. Most common is only to get a little acne on some part of the body. In that case, or in case of other symptoms, you cut back or stop Iodine til symptoms resolve.
All commercial bread & baked goods in the US have bromine in them. Until the 70s dough conditioner was Iodine, but then was changed to bromine. One can buy unbrominated flour and make one’s own bread, of course.
I suggest starting Iodine, which almost everyone needs, by taking Kelp tablets which say they contain about 400 mcg. The final dose s/b 1 drop of 2% Lugol’s solution in water or juice. Lugol’s has both Potassium Iodide and Iodine.
Only Iodine will clear Fluoride & Bromine from the body.
PS When these halogens are present in the body, blood tests for thyroid level are incorrect: The tests are unable to distinguish if one or more atoms of Iodine have been replaced by Fluoride or Bromine in the body’s Thyroid hormone. Nor is TSH a correct predictor of Thyroid hormone level. The only test today readily available that will reliably measure thyroid level is thermal.
An old-style, non-digital thermometer (available at walmart online) in the armpit for 10 minutes upon first awakening will disclose a low body temperature.
I personally think that undiagnosed low thyroid is probably the most widely suffered illness in America, and that it is greatly to be blamed for political passivity. It’s probably a major contributor to the incidence of heart disease, too.
The book Hypothyroidism Type 2 by Mark Starr is extraordinary; he was mentored by Doctors of an earlier generation, and brings that knowledge to us– undegraded by what has happened to medicine since.

Some theorists argue that moral bioenhancement ought to be compulsory. I take this argument one step further, arguing that if moral bioenhancement ought to be compulsory, then its administration ought to be covert rather than overt. This is to say that it is morally preferable for compulsory moral bioenhancement to be administered without the recipients knowing that they are receiving the enhancement. Before my mother realised I was the bad influence, she tried to introduce me to ‘good’ kids she found at church or somewhere. We lived in a house in the woods, I went a bit feral. So I turned round and pointed to a tree and said beech, and climbed right to the top which was fifteen feet higher than the surrounding trees, and waited till his car drove away before coming down.
My point is that whereas fighting and pushing each other around, would get heavy as you got bigger and kind of became embarrassing, which taught you to avoid and resolve conflict. These specky egghead types don’t learn to do this, and I can’t help thinking their youth misspent with their nose in books, creates an animus that they are unaware of. You only have one chance to be a kid and they missed it.

I wonder about the behaviour of children during the “terrible twos” period of childhood, from the perspective of the all potential, they might be asking “is this what you all collectively chose to do with this gift of life”?
Ad hominem responses to objections or dissent only show the lack of proof from the objecting person to support their position. If they had real, verified counterpoints, bring them up. Let’s have a lively debate on a subject, respecting each other’s position. Attacking the other person only proves how shallow a thinker the person is.
Slogan slinging is the other technique. “The science is settled.” Science is never settled. New data can come along at any time and force a whole re-think of a given subject. Other popular name calling words are fascist, racist, antisemitic, misoginest: take your pick; there are dozens popular these days. Such labels add nothing to the discussion. They only serve to show how shallow the thinking is of the person using them.
And the final point: what makes you think you are right? What makes you think there can be no other viewpoint or position other than your own? Really? You are that enlightened in your thinking? So, what do you do when, down the road, the popular viewpoint changes to something contrary to your current viewpoint.
You should always be open to different viewpoints, different perspectives. You don’t have to believe them or go with them, but you should at least listen and consider. Modify your own opinion if there is merit; reject if not.

Science is never settled
In “climate science”, the well-paid ones have little to say on the role of the Sun and Solar cycles. For their global conferences to intimidate govrnments, every one of them who fears being left out, and his financeer, flies to it by private jet. How scientific is that?
Popper said if a true scientist releases a ball in his hand, he shouldn’t absolutely expect it to fall, as you can never perform an experiment infinitely.
The scientific method should be all scepticism, this level of objectivity cannot survive a political or corporate hierarchy.
The “science is settled” is all about obedience and nothing to do with science.
Popper’s philosophy is ok if one is aware of it’s issues. Going hardcore Popper, beside maths, no knowledge is possible, but this is not in accordance with life. Your first sentence exhibits absurdity of going hardcore. He didn’t solve the problem of induction. He is usefull against the dogma of scientific consensus.
