Hold the Applause for Trump, the “Peacemaker”
Edward Curtin

There is history worth remembering as Trump is lauded in certain circles on the so-called “right” and “left” as a peacemaker with Russia over the US/NATO proxy war against Russia via Ukraine: President Richard Nixon, who ran as the peace candidate in 1968 with a “secret plan” for peace in Vietnam that was actually a plan for more war, visited China in February 1972 in a move to exploit the Soviet-China split, and yet the US war against Vietnam went on until April 30, 1975 when the U.S. was driven out of Vietnam.
I think extreme caution is advised when it comes to Trump’s plans to end the U.S. proxy war against Russia, which, following the Nixon-Kissinger script, seems to be aimed at splitting the Russian-Chinese partnership now threatening U.S. world domination.
Trump, like his predecessor Joseph Biden who presided over the proxy war against Russia and the genocide of Palestinians by Israel, is no man of peace. He is fully in support of the extinction of the Palestinians and behind Israel’s war aims in the Middle-East. So when it comes to his recent overtures to Russia and a resolution to the U.S./NATO proxy war against Russia, one needs to reflect on history and Trump’s inclination to make “a deal.” The man, after all, was a reality-television star and has long reveled in radical reversals of previous statements and intentions. For example, in his first term, he often talked of withdrawing from NATO but never did; NATO, in fact, expanded under his watch. He talked about ending the U.S./NATO support for Ukraine’s bombing of Russian-speaking areas of eastern Ukraine, only to withdraw from the Minsk Accords and send military equipment to Ukraine to bomb those areas.
Those who are praising him now say he is a changed man after time “in the wilderness” these last four years (one is reminded of Nixon’s wandering wilderness days from 1960-1968). Would a changed man have Elon Musk as his right-hand man or have as Vice President JD Vance whose career has been backed by Palantir Technology’s Peter Thiel?
Investigator journalist Whitney Webb has reported extensively on Thiel and Vance’s ties and the interconnections between them and other supporters of the surveillance state tied to the Democrats, such as former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, among others. If you assume the surface war between Trump and the Democrats is the real deal, Webb’s work will have you wondering. They have their differences, of course, but a reading of history would suggest both fully back the surveillance panopticon that has stolen American’s freedom and privacy in the name of what else – freedom and privacy.
Now Trump-Musk-Vance are touting their dedication to free speech and their opposition to censorship, which are clearly admirable goals. But one needs to remember Marshall McLuhan’s adage that the medium is the message, and that the medium touted by Trump – front and center – is represented by the omnipresence of Elon Musk, whose face symbolizes the smirking machine and the use of digital technology to accumulate and exert power. In a digital age, technological technique is King Propaganda, and technique transforms everything it touches into a machine.
As in Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, the brothers Tweedledee Democrat and Tweedledum Republican fight over their rattle as the audience focuses on their battle while their joint racket goes unattended.
‘I know what you’re thinking about,’ Tweedledum; ‘but it isn’t so, no how.’
‘Contrariwise,’ continued Tweedledee, ‘if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn’t, it ain’t. That’s logic.’
‘I was thinking, Alice said very politely, ‘which is the best way out of this wood: it’s getting so dark. Would you tell me please?’
It is dark. Of course, the way out is to stop reacting and do what the press is obligated to do: be skeptical, question authority, and don’t be cheerleaders for anyone in power, whether they be Biden or Trump or someone else.
The opposite of such skepticism has been happening, and many in the alternative press, who [including me] have correctly accused Biden and the Democrats of war crimes, lies, censorship, Russiagate propaganda, etc., are now awash with grandiose praise for Trump, many calling him a revolutionary in a good sense. This is absurd.
Such hyperbole is quite naïve, as has been the calling of Vice-President JD Vance’s Munich Security Conference speech historic and Ciceronian. It was a good speech [text here] in many ways, but…
He rightly ripped the Europeans for their censorship of dissidents and their repression of alternative voices, although his examples were weak and narrowly focused.
His statement, while surely partisan, was true that “I will admit that sometimes the loudest voices for censorship have come not from within Europe, but from within my own country, where the prior administration threatened and bullied social media companies to censor so-called misinformation.”
His defense of democratic mandates was strong when he said:
You cannot win a democratic mandate by censoring your opponents or putting them in jail, whether that’s the leader of the opposition, a humble Christian praying in her own home, or a journalist trying to report the news. Nor can you win one by disregarding your basic electorate on questions like who gets to be a part of our shared society.
When he criticized European leaders for allowing mass migration into their countries, his hypocrisy stood out. As any fair person should recognize, immigration policies have long been an issue in need of reform. But the mass creation of people fleeing their countries for safe havens in Europe are the direct result of US/NATO war policies in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Serbia, Syria, etc., policies supported by Republicans and Democrats alike and seconded by their lapdogs in Europe.
The same is true for immigration here in the USA where immigration policy has long been in need of reform that neither party would undertake, but the main contingent of immigrants entering this country comes here to escape horrendous conditions in their home countries due in great part to U.S. foreign policies in support of repressive regimes and economic policies favoring the rich amid U.S. efforts to control Latin America. Without those immigrants, the U.S. economy would collapse.
But Vance’s speech is a minor part of my argument here.
The real issue is Trump and the question of whether or not he is for real in his efforts for peace in Ukraine. I am very skeptical and think it is justified.
I am convinced that the US/NATO war against Russia will not be ending unless NATO is dissolved, which Trump is not proposing. He only wishes to strengthen NATO with European money, not that of the U.S. NATO’s only raison d’être is to destroy Russia as an independent country and create regime change there through multiple means. This has always been so. This is why NATO has existed for so long and has expanded. Open warfare in Ukraine is just one means among many they have used over the years. You can end the overt war and continue the covert.
If NATO is not dissolved, the undermining of Russia will continue under Trump, who seems to recognize that the proxy war is lost on the battlefield, a fact obvious for years despite U.S. government and mainstream media propaganda to the contrary – propaganda so blatantly false that it raises questions about people’s gullibility. How many foreign leaders does such media need to call the new Hitlers before people wise up?
Trump’s theatrical antics will persist, however, and Trump and Putin will probably eventually meet and some deal may be struck on Russia’s terms, but if Russia doesn’t want to be tricked again, it should beware the possibility of a Trump Trojan horse.
Apropos today, in 1964 and then in 1965, the great French sociologist Jacques Ellul published his classic studies. First came The Technological Society to be quickly followed by Propaganda, linked books in which he brilliantly shed an early light on what we now find everywhere – a digital world where propaganda is vital for the state’s functioning and where words like democracy, truth, and fact yield to the technologue’s magic wand.
Another French social thinker, Paul Virilio, spoke of the information bomb, the glut of information produced by digital media and the Internet. One key aspect of this marriage is speed, Virilio’s specialty being dromology, the study of speed. It is worth noting how fast Trump has acted in his first month in office.
This is no doubt aided and abetted by his right-hand man Elon Musk, Mr. X., Mr. Space Shot, Mr. Digital World himself, who is prominently displayed by Trump’s side at every photo op. Unlike the Biden warmongers who presented themselves in a more circumspect manner while propagandizing the American public, Trump makes it very clear that digital technology is his key to rule. And flooding the information superhighway with a rapid-fire series of orders and pronouncements is presented as government efficiency at its finest. But things happen so fast one can’t keep pace with them.
Elon Musk and Peter Thiel are two technological billionaires who should be considered crucial to Trump’s plans. As Ellul’s work makes clear, such men are key to effective propaganda. How can anyone consider such men benign supporters of democracy and justice?
I think the talk of a Trump revolution in favor of peace and democracy is hyperbolically irresponsible. It is unworthy of good journalism that requires prudence and patience when the powerful pitch their deals. The propaganda from the Biden administration and their mainstream media accomplices should have taught everyone that. But the appeal of a savior is very powerful.
You know, ‘if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn’t, it ain’t. That’s logic.’

It is always good to be skeptical and I agree with Curtin here. However, there is a difference between skepticism and cynicism (which I am not accusing EC of). Cynicism is a form of prejudice, it blinds one from seeing what is actually happening.
OG Stasi?
So, OG is just like Facebook with shadowbanning censorship? No reply to my inquiry about why my comment of yesterday was eliminated when all I did was agree with Curtin? Do you not at least have enough respect to communicate with me? And since no one else will see my response here as the previous two have been deleted… are you not performing like all that this publication criticizes?
Hello?
Admin?
“Pending again”…
The comment that went missing (posted as Lost in a dark wood) was visible for me. Nonetheless, I have removed it and reinstated it and hopefully that has fixed the issue. I removed the multipost of that comment too. Also, while comments are anonymous and I can’t know for sure, the timing and ferocity with which you’ve taken up Lost in a dark wood’s cause prompts me to gently remind the community, please don’t post as multiple monikers. Amongst other things it causes issues with our spam filter and sometimes auto dumps comments into spam. Which may (or may not) be what happened to your longer comment, Sandy (I have liberated that comment now).
Unfortunately the challenges faced by offg and meta etc. are (in terms of basics) essentially the same (albeit scaled down!) and Admin are obliged to implement some moderation. Where we differ is that we are independently funded by reader contribution, and our record speaks for itself that we allow an extremely fair hearing of most views, to rival any free speech noticeboard on the web! One thing we do have in common with Meta et al is that we can’t (and won’t) please everybody all the time. We sometimes have a duty/obligation to prioritise the wider community over individual preference.
Presumably we (including Lost in a dark wood) are on the same side? You have a voice here. You are very happy to comment and be associated with this site. You benefit from the facilities and the platform we offer. So why the instant jump to unpleasantness and accusation, all over a pretty innocuous admin request aimed at LIADW? Where’s the respect? Your disgruntled consumer attitude is really at odds with what offg stands for. We are not the ABC corporation, you know? If you’re too busy treating us as if we are some faceless corporate megalith, then you bring that tone BTL and help make offg a more sterile, joyless place.
This is your community, please have some respect for it and for keeping the right balance BTL. Admin are happy to let the community self moderate, however, we still have to chip in occassionally and do our jobs. We are not here to be bullied for that, yet, as in this case, we invariably are, unfortunately.
People are passionate, we get it, but let’s think ahead, yeah? Let’s build some trust.
Of course we discourage turning the comment section into a notice board, as we relayed to LIADW. This is a place to discuss, not a place for aggressive pamphleteering. That’s why I kindly requested a tasteful balance, and Admin is not apologising for that.
And just one last community reminder: please don’t comment as multiple monikers, it messes up the auto spam filter, and it’s against our Comment Policy. Thank you, A2
I am sandy. This is my real name. I am not Lost in a Dark Wood. I do not have any aliases here, or anywhere on Earth. I am straight forward.and do not hide behind any facades. I use my name only, wherever i comment. OG’s security system has made a mistake. I am NOT LIADW. You say you reinstated my agreeing-with-Ed comment which had no possible reason to block, that i can conceive of.
I see that blasted “pending” thing all the time. If y’all believe my ideas, some form of direct democracy which i believe in after personal experience, is “pamphleteering”, then what can i say? Anyone with ideas they want to convey is in OG’s view pampleteering? So, there is no reason to comment here? If your security system cannot figure out that i am not posting under multiple “monikers”, how is OG any better than FB? I was shadowbanned on FB for many years and do not, can not, enter that Stasi black mirror app. Your saying OG has the same problem. FB does and, you are right. How does one moderate comments without making errors, like claiming a user is someone they are not? I don’t know. But y’all are in error on this one. You guys also seem to take offense when these events are happening to reader-commenters, and we are asking what is going on, and get no reply. I see this frequently. This is the real problem as i see it here. It’s taken me years here to see this, now as the problem lurking behind sight.
Philosophically, secrecy and policing are incompatible with an open, human communication environment. The options are fix oversight, or lose commenters. If y’all have no solutions and want to continue using a police state apparatus, that is a symptomatic Achilles Heel of internet use, that is rendering it, in instances like this useless. How can we go to use something which we have no way to certify is live, real, not somehow a mediated virtual reality fraud? This is an existential problem here and censoring or making false accusations are not a solution, imho.
I am not accusing y’all of anything definite, as i have no idea on the net of anything definite. But virtuality, which the internet is, is a hot potato which i don’t believe anyone has a handle on. Unless non-moderation?
If you’re ‘straight forward’ and you’ve been commenting here for years, why are you so confrontational with the people who run this place? Shouldn’t we be on the same side? This isn’t very normal. Also I never referred to anything you did as pamphleteering, as you well know. Why you mentioned it in the preface to one of your comments when it was an admin conversation with LIADW idk, but identities can get a bit confusing on an anonymous comment forum if people do that, so that might be your mistake.
Also if the only thing separating us from FB in your mind is an occasional pending may I kindly suggest you take a moment to check your bearings. I’ll look into why your comments sometimes do that, now let’s move on. A2
I have only ever used one moniker; that is: Lost in a dark wood
The reason why different people react in a similar way, and may therefore give the impression of being unified, or even that of being one person, is because they are responding to a specific attitude of the admin.
If I have a “side”, it is that of trying to promote free, honest, open debate. The structure of this site supports that objective. Unfortunately, the admin policy does not.
You have over 5000 comments here, I’d say ‘admin policy’ has allowed you quite a few column inches, wouldn’t you? Undermining trust in offg simply devalues all your output to date. Why do that? Serious question, what is your logic here? A2
There is a difference between “comments” and “debate”. That is, I see lots of comments but very little debate.
Well, keeping this balance is what prompted admin’s polite intervention lol! We are encouraging discussion/debate over pamphleteering. We’re very tolerant – we’ll tolerate a bit of most things – but we asked your help to keep the right balance. If you feel your fellow commenters aren’t debating enough, it definitely seems we’re on the same page, wouldn’t you agree? So let’s make sure we aren’t losing our objectivity here. I also hope you don’t really want to discount your 5000 comments by undermining trust in this platform, because that would be rather a depressing waste of your tireless hard work and we don’t approve. A2
Lost in a dark wood writes endless commentary which takes up the whole page and the debates takes 3 minutes to scroll down to get to other comments.
it could be construed that she actually hijacks the thread with her repeated same videos and comments which she has been ina loopdaloop cycle since 2019.
The admins have done sterling work with lost in the darks comments and 80000 links she posts with most articles which the articles in them selves and no comments.
Thank you, Proxi, Admin genuinely appreciates your taking a moment to chime in. We really do try our best to serve the community, so thank you again. A2
Prosecco, prophecies (meant)

For those whose wild imaginations actually conjured up the image of a peacemaker doppelganger striding alongside Mr. President Trump, I have two words: Rudy Giuliani. You know: the guy who campaigned for Trump and informed the American people that two year old Palestinian children are taught to kill Americans and would do so if we were foolish enough to allow them into our country.
Now do you see why Mr. Peacemaker (or is that Pissmaker?) Trump is okay with exterminating all Palestinians? It’s to save us Americans from being mowed down by two year old Palestinians brandishing AK-47s.
Cant you allow one or two deviations in Trump’s support club of maybe a 100 mio.(R) Americans?
I strongly suspect there are vastly more than “one or two deviations in Trump’s support club….” I noticed a long time ago (like around October of 2023) that as far as many MAGArites are concerned, Palestinians are illegal immigrants to the land of Israel and, because they hate “our” illegal immigrants so much, they are quite receptive to suggestions such as Mr. Giuliani’s insane comment.
BTW, I should point out that the USA has ALWAYS had open borders – it’s nothing new. What is new and oh so troubling to the MAGArites is that now – God forbid! – our open borders have become a two way street, where before it was strictly a one way street. Our troops could come and go as they pleased from one after another place we targeted for exploitation. But nobody invited the exploited masses in!!!!!
Ok. But it has really not much to do with Trump yes. I recognize your blame on Mr. Giuliani’ and more.
Just to give Trump what he also is: Executive order on closing funding to all schools who force vaxx on children, and some people thank him on behalf of American parents. .https://seedxvj21.bitchute.com/8KBSREvlu6um/YdIsZW6u5mw.mp4

James O’Brien reacts to Trump’s ‘extraordinary’ Gaza video | LBC
LBC
Feb 26, 2025 #jamesobrien #trump #truthsocial
James O’Brien reacts live on air to a video clip posted by Donald Trump on Truth Social, showcasing his vision for a transformed Gaza under his presidency.
The video, which appears to be AI-generated, presents a world in which the war-torn Palestinian territory has been turned into a luxurious seaside resort.
The clip shows a variety of bizarre images, including bearded belly dancers, Benjamin Netanyahu with Trump, a giant golden statue of the US president, and Trump talking to another scantily-clad dancer.
Elon Musk appears in the footage several times, including sitting on a beach eating and throwing money in the air.
The video is backed by a pop song heralding the US president’s plan for the region, which was home to two million people before the war with Israel.
Wow! You mean daily kos is actually still around? I thought everyone vacated that site a decade ago. Will wonders never cease?
It ebbs and flows. On the whole, I would say they are now more relevant than OffG.
One more time for Prince Knut.
No we are not seeing Trump and Co as the Peacemaker, Saviour, Sheriff, King, or similar.
We just noticed he was not afraid of saying things as they factually were, he was a hetero, had a family and liked girls, he made factual jobs available, and he preferred business from stupid wars. Thats all.
Sorry to disappoint the many but so far Trump and Co have overdone our poor expectations.
We would never had thought he had the encourage to select RFK Jr, and further one of the few women worth to give power Tulsi Gabbard, m.m., and revert many of the most sick mandates coming out from (D)’s Presidency, hereof around gender mutilation of children and more.
So in 4 weeks Trump did more in a positive direction, to surprise even us who was to his side, and no, Trump is not going to ban your mommy, girl/boy friend or your many reserve wives from doing your work and laundry your dirty underwear and stinking socks.
All Liberals can cool down. Cool I said. Cool. Stay cool, feel cool, BE cool!
According to one report, The US may consider changing the accepted d
efinition of ‘genocide’ – so that the US & frenz’ politicians cannot be
charged with carrying out genocide in Gaza…
(Humpty Dumpty was right – again !!)…
Like changing the definition of vaccine and pandemic.
Changing death certificate codes.
Or like changing the definition of democracy. “Vote our way or be banned.”
you guys should not worry about Russia a bit. Russia is being very successfuly destroyed, decayed and rotted from the inside, “thanks” to “who is Mr Putin” Vladimir. Putin is the best agent of matrix the hell ever produced. Leave Russia alone it will be finished before 2030. No, “the peace deal” will not be made on Russia’s terms. Russia is not an independent country for very reasons I’ve just mentioned and Russia does not dictate any terms. It was not Russia who started okraine’s war and it wont be Russia who will end it. Russia -Okraina war will continue as long needed for the great reset/matrix. China is not a partner for Russia. China regards Russia as hopless, irrelevant country only good as suplier of cheap materials and gas. When I say “cheap” I mean “cheaper than dirt”. As for digitalisation, in some regards Russia is far ahead of some developed countries. Please don’t have illusions- Russia is a staunch supporter of WEF, UN, WHO etc. Russia is playing a vital part in the new world digital matrix order.
Yes we have noticed that. Not at least due to OffG’s factual journalist Waggaman and others. Thanks to all of you. So then there is China left yes? Praised from all sides.
FWIW, my view of Mr. Waggaman is that he is the quintessential example of presenting an argument whose every factually accurate premise leads him to a false conclusion. Yes, Russia is doing everything every other nation is doing: pandemic, vaccine, CBDC, and so on. But no, that does not necessarily add up to Mr. Putin being a WEF puppet intent on destroying Russia at the behest of the globalists.
True. But if he is going the same road just in parallel, he is of similar use for us yes?
Donnie, I’m so sorry you didn’t get the memo. Nobody takes Rachel Maddow seriously any more. Her hatred of Russia has not spilled over into reality – and never will. Credible sources (like everyone Judge Napolitano interviews – some pretty heavy lifting) suggest the exact opposite of everything you mention. Russia is on a roll – despite the more than a hundred sanctions against it.
You are quite right Eddie – Trump is trying to seduce Putin to
distance Russia from China… But Trump’s bribes dont meet
the reason for Russia’s SMO, so, as the saying goes: “Hell
hath no fury like a scorned narcissist.”
I suppose i should take it as a positive sign that my ‘comments’ rarely get
any upvotes… I mean, the dearth of upvotes indicates i cant be accused
of being an “influencer”, and therefore am not likely to become a target of
the government’s censorship agents… The latest targets are so-called
“misogyny influencers” (Who comes up with all these ‘names’ ? Is there a
government body, something like its psychological Nudge Unit, devoted to
coming up with labels ? Are they funded by USAID ?)…
Of course implicit in this “influencer” notion is that the government and its
agents seem to believe we’re all easily influenced, that were incapable of
being misogynists without encouragements. But then again, people were
influenced to vote for these politicians, so maybe there’s something to the
government’s belief…
Psychological Nudge Unit was the U.K colon created patsy to sell the idea the U.K government was being bullied to do the lockdown by this unit.
They also created the different vaccine groups who advised the government to pretend it was the vacccine groups advising the government and then the dummies who think poor Trump or Boris or Orban etctec was being bullied into Lockdown, Masks, Qr Codes try Vaccine passports etc.
Misandry influencers are more common.
Even my keyboard prediction doesn’t know the word “misandry.” Tells you something, eh?
The company I worked for spun off a couple subsidiaries. And, instead of coming up with names for these new companies, it hired an outside source to come up with the names. Maybe that’s what Uncle Sam does too?
Here, NEVER a critical eye for Islam, the religion ‘of peace’.
At least Aljazeera doesn’t hide their funding or ideology, openly located in Qatar. Parallel to their their English media they have the Arab ones, with much more radical content.
Gullible, more gullable, woke Western middle class.
And the Muslim lobby is everywhere…. oh hang on a minute!
I still believe in what my government says that Osama Bin Laden and his 40 Ali Baba Thieves did it, and no one is going to make me think otherwise..
WEF Davos .,SPIETIF St Petersborgo seem to have all the same Globalist format. Need I not mention Covid -19. Wester Civ shut down for the common cold. Society in general has been captured
As they say during a sports competition: “it’s not over till it’s over.” 😁
Yes Ed, no one with a functioning critical thought Brain-Cell will trust Trump, Elon, or his merry band of aggressive, driven narcissists all trying to make their names and fortunes in the “Public Servant Grift “….
But, let’s face the facts…. I’m 76 years old, was a Viet Nam protester in the 60’s/70’s, worked for environmental groups & The Nuclear Weapons Freeze campaign / Walter Mondale in 1984….
Worked for “Citizens for a Better Environment” in Berkeley in 1986, the LAST TIME I voted for the UNI-PARTY…. Voted for Nader twice and then the whole “3rd Party” became a JOKE….
$36 TRILLION in Debt, AGI around the corner, CBDC , DEW’s to make “SMART CITY” fires, How do YOU think those buildings came down (especially #7)?
1984 is RAPIDLY approaching, with or without Trump… If the next sniper doesn’t get him, the next 4 years will be “Entertaining” and internet “Influencers” like yourself will make lot’s-of-Benjamins to stay ahead of the curve and take nice vacations…
Is that so? I make a lot of money? I make not a cent from my writing – nada! Where do you get the gall to make such an accusation? I’m an “influencer”? You’re a comedian with a knife out for some reason.
Tis literary envy Ed.
Perhaps he’s wil(ting).
I agree, with the exception of Mr. Curtin as influencer and benjamin stasher.
I have a hard time believing he writes his essays sipping a mai tai in Cancun.
‘e’s pivoting, ‘at’s wot ‘e’s doin’; ‘e’s doin’ The Pivot !
do you people really think that Russia was tricked at the negotiating table? that Moscow’s leaders were so naive about the reliability and long-term plans of their adversaries, starting from the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and extending through the Paris peace talks on Vietnam, the reunification of Germany and supposed promise, apparently never formalized in any treaty, about NATO expansion, up to Minsk and the Ukraine conflict? isn’t it more likely that those leaders were making rational, informed choices based on good intelligence about the capabilities of the other side vis à vis their own capabilities?
speaking of promises, is it really true that the RF committed to respecting Ukraine’s 1994 borders when Yeltsin signed the agreement on that country’s denuclearization?
They were making entirely rational decisions – for psychopaths.
The intelligence that they had wasn’t good, it was perfect.
It’s impossible to be tricked when you are playing for the same team against the balance of humanity.
Naionalism is very useful for some but entirely infantile and dangerous for most
I think that Trump has just recognized that getting involved in Ukraine was a mistake. US foreign policy has long been driven by what could politely be called “Cold War Retreads”, people who came of age during the Cold War and haven’t figured out to move on since. This has led us into a number of overseas (mis)adventures which might have benefited arms suppliers, covert operators and various hangers on mightily but have acted as a dead weight on both our economy and global profile. Even now with the futility of what we’re going patently obvious there are not only the usual suspects saying, effectively, ‘one more surge will fix it’ but European leaders like Macron and Starmer acting as if its still the 1850s. (Yes, it wasn’t a typo — 1850s and the Crimean War…..look it up…..)
Meanwhile China is cleaning up. We’ve lost the initiative there big time — once, not too many years ago, they were happy to imitate us, to be more American than America but now thanks to our archaic foreign policy we’re reduced to reacting to their every move (as if they care) with our efforts focused solely on “stopping them” (again, as if they care). This is symptomatic of an Empire in serious decline and like with any other kind of self-harm the first step towards recovery is stopping doing things that hurt us.
This, incidentally, has nothing to do with idealistic notions of peace and democracy but rather a recognition of reality coupled with a deep sense of self-interest (and/or self-preservation). In a sense Trump is being smart, the very antitheses of someone like Starmer who is not only head of a country mired in depression and cynicism but also trying to sell the people on a “Guns Before Butter” strategy in order to bolster foreign military adventures. That’s going to be a tough sell.
“Trump has just recognized…” I honestly don’t think Trump or Starmer or any of them ‘recognise’ anything, they are handled and perform, these are puppets, to speak of them in any other way is delusional.
“The main contingent of immigrants entering this country comes here to escape horrendous conditions in their home countries due in great part to U.S. foreign policies in support of repressive regimes and economic policies favoring the rich amid U.S. efforts to control Latin America.”
I’m afraid this is not really true. I think that most of the immigrants are deliberately imported, no matter what the condition of their home country, imported by the rich classes, in order to make things rougher for working people who are citizens. Of course, making things rougher for working people makes things better for the rich.
Those two theories are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they slot together perfectly.
Well, clearly not. The clause that Sandra includes: “no matter what the conditions in their home countries” clearly makes what she is saying incompatible with Curtin’s “the main contingent of immigrants come here to escape horrendous conditions…” etc, a plainly counter-factual assertion which, of course, could be lifted directly from any Guardian article.
But it’s OK, Jonathan, you and Curtin will be allowed to persist in your bubble of left-liberal certainty that you are so much smarter and more enlightened than anyone else. Pudgy little watchdog Sam here will suppress this comment and then spend the rest of the afternoon farting into his chair-cushion and boasting about how OffGuardian has never and will never practice censorship.
I’m actually flattered you detest me and offg quite as much as you do! XD It does help illuminate the darkness sometimes, knowing someone… cares. A2
Whether it was welcoming women into the workplace, or driving in or evading “undocumented” refugees, the purpose has been to drive down wages. Never mind the (a) social cost (mental health of children and prevalent destitution) (b) killing the golden goose of capitalism, the middle class.
Making things harder is a given, keeps us quiet. To me it seems also for some agenda not immediately clear but definitely involves eradication of culture and the indigenous population, added to that what are very large numbers of dare I say ‘fighting age’ men. Certainly that is the case here in Ireland and we certainly aren’t allowed to speak about it.

Despite his immensely deep insight into historical contexts, which only his ingenious Canadian-Spanish-Czech brain knows how to interpret correctly, he continues to live as an uninvited invader of the Spanish welfare state. So far (for about 10 years now), he has only been able to exploit his almost limitless potential to a small degree to gather a willingly following (but above all paying!) fan base around him.
“I think the talk of a Trump revolution in favor of peace and democracy is hyperbolically irresponsible.”
I’d have to agree with you Ed, but I’d probably just use stupid. Maybe, naive, deceived, fooled again, stuff like that.
I thought this was a good article about why the geopolitical and US internal changes, which are not from Trump. That dude is not smart enough for this stuff, he’s being led by the nose ring as always, which is easy to do with someone so vain.
“prolonging the war in Ukraine made no sense, and that NATO expansion was a dangerous path which actually pushed Moscow and Beijing closer together. Thus it would make sense for Washington to “drive a wedge” between these two Eurasian powers and, at the same time, in his words, “fashion a European order that reduces Moscow’s incentives to cause trouble.”
Reality tends to seep in after a while.
“Simply put, the US has long been overburdened, and it must pragmatically acknowledge the fact that other great powers exist – not to mention the reality of the Chinese superpower. This involves some degree of “retreating” (and this is what has been going on even under Democratic administrations with the withdrawals from Iraq and Afghanistan, for instance). Be it as it may, Washington in all likelihood will still try to maintain its hegemony even if in a more “poled” world.”
Something had to give, and the Ruling Class have known full well things had to change. The Great Game continues, the rules are just changing.

Trump was smart enough to get himself elected. Of course he has advisors, but he is juggling balls on many fronts. I think you underestimate him.
I don’t think so. I’ve been researching on Trump for about 10 years now. He is not a brilliant human.
prolonging the war in Ukraine made no sense
In the delusion of “neo-liberalism”, the opinions of the very wealthiest, as represented by the monster funds, matter. During the barbaric invasion of Iraq, we heard that the delay (“uncertainty”) in the war was hurting the “market”.
There is no surprise to the above headline when the previous article by Od + Sinéad
basically said captain warpspeed was now anti v.
to be anti war or stop war there must of been one in the first place and dancing soldiers does not eqaute to a war, more a theatrical performance and money funneling racket.
The fact it appeared on Feb(2ndmonth) 20th 2022 literally as covid was finishing and all off a sudden Petrol Milk Gas Electric and Grains went up 30% and the justification was this proxy lie of war was the reason.
The commi (reds) cccp possible threat of nukes anger worked well with headlines like the price we will pay to beat putin..
The migrants screamers where happy now there was white sexy Ukraine hot chicks coming to the U.K and you could even sign up and house them for 300£+ permonth.
Shops became anti s and banned vodka sales of Russian made and skimful of media would dear mention the old isswaael greater projject.
Trump the man in less then 100 days phoned up evil Putin and said hey stop the war and that was it, just like cia carlson went there and interviewed him or was in Binladen in the cave.
This is aimed at alt and msm and the sooner people awaken to the fact it is about as real as your tv shows you watch then your still under mindcontrol.
Spot on Mr. Curtin. Thank you for performing the function of pausing with research and analysis.
Virilio also wrote about the increasing prevalence of the “accident”, which is the creation of technological instances that are accidents waiting to happen. Like a plane crash. Like atomics or other of the new technological, especially digital, weapons. Or like nukes, MRNA vaxxines, GM, RF, IoT, microparticles, even an old decision like plastics. As modern technology exceeds natural Earth ecosystem limits, technological decision making has a coefficient of geometrically expanding risk that few are considering. Flywheeling collateral damage. Those who do express concern are labelled as neo-Luddites, fearing the inevitable, fearing the innovative genius of human “progress”. Well, leaving technological deployment decisions to unaccountable, irresponsible, autonomous “deciders”, like Trump, Musk, DNC, RNC, Congress, EPA, WHO, CDC, Fauci, Kissinger, corporations, SCOTUS, State Legislatures, County and City Councils and unelected County and City Managers, is Russian Roulette (no pun intended) for Humanity.
We are on the cusp of a transition only we-the-people can engage. As we can see with Trumps overclocked capitalist shock therapy, his crew has engaged a speed of authority deployment unseen in America since King George III. Are we to allow a regression to monarchy as possible solution to autocratic decision making? The Two Parties are already a form of soft monarchy that voters keep approving. That has failed. This Trumptydumpty effort will surely produce massive collateral damage. It’s like a Blitzkrieg offensive. For instance, the idea that a newly elected state governor’s appointee would “ping” all State employees for a week’s work summary to evaluate staff position value thru a new, hypothetically, sufficiently informed, AI supervisor/boss, is truly Godzilla-grade egoism that cannot sit well with rational human beings. Knee-jerkers, reactive minds, maybe. In only four weeks, rather than research and assess as Edward’s article is doing, then making appropriate proposals for new policies and management of agencies, he’s bludgeoned the working class just following orders. Indeed the medium is the message and mirrors true intent. He and his crew are just more rich tyrants profitably leashing the bottom 90% to the lash of the master. Spectacle not withstanding.
So glad Marshall McLuhan was also referred to. He makes clear in The Gutenberg Galaxy thru Understanding Media, that if technological adoption does cause so much collateral damage (and our digitally morphed last three decades are truly that), it makes better sense to more carefully assess, and get consent for [my thought], what will best serve the social needs of Humanity.
It is up to us to implement true public consent based collective decision making. We have a lot of work to do to figure this out, and many tragedies to withstand.
I forgot to put the link to the article from the DNR-News “The Kremlin’s “dark horse” now has carte blanche: Negotiations with the United States have moved to a new level”, and to add: after all, who is better suited to “negotiate” the next stage of the rare earth GR than the person at the head of the fund financed the injection from the initial stage? After all, Putin himself said at Davos 2021: ““Hopes that it will be possible to reboot the old growth model are connected with rapid technological development. Indeed, during the past 20 years we have created a foundation for the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution based on the wide use of AI and automation and robotics. The coronavirus pandemic has greatly accelerated such projects and their implementation.”
“… When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. …”
https://biblehub.com/topical/t/the_third_seal–the_black_horse.htm
1. The Black Horse:
The color black is often associated with mourning, famine, and death in biblical literature. The appearance of the Black Horse in the apocalyptic vision suggests a time of great scarcity and economic hardship. This horse follows the White and Red Horses, which symbolize conquest and war, respectively, indicating a progression of calamities affecting humanity.
2. The Rider and the Scales:
The rider of the Black Horse carries a pair of scales, an instrument used for measuring and weighing. This imagery is indicative of commerce and trade, but in the context of the Third Seal, it suggests a time of economic imbalance and inflation. The scales imply that food and basic necessities will be rationed and measured carefully, highlighting the severity of the famine.”
Spicy detail. This is the end of Zarubin’s interview with Putin:
“Pavel Zarubin: By the way, a few minutes ago I read another piece of news from the United States: President Trump said that the United States and Russia are discussing major economic projects as part of the negotiations on Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin: Yes, some of our companies are in contact with each other and are discussing such projects.
Zarubin: Thank you very much.
Putin: Thank you.”
And this is the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), dnr-news.ru (part of the article):
The Kremlin’s “dark horse” now has carte blanche: Negotiations with the United States have moved to a new level
Negotiations with the United States have moved to a new level. Russia will no longer be a fodder base for the West, but it will offer something fundamentally different. The Kremlin’s “dark horse” has carte blanche for a lucrative deal.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with Pavel Zarubin that Moscow is ready to conclude a deal with foreign partners for the extraction of rare earth metals. The Head of State stressed that Russia has an order of magnitude more of them than Ukraine. And that it is interested in such cooperation, since modern sectors of the economy are tied to this resource.
Doctor of Political Sciences, First Minister of State Security of the DPR, political observer of Tsargrad Andrei Pinchuk commented on this initiative. He believes that Putin’s proposal is a consequence of the negotiations that Moscow and Washington began to conduct after Donald Trump came to power. And the key figure in these negotiations is the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev – a man who is called the “dark horse” of the Kremlin. He is a native of Ukraine, and has an American education and experience in American companies. He has many connections in the United States, which makes him an ideal negotiator. Especially given the fact that Trump is a businessman and views any agreement from the point of view of economic benefits.”

“…
“In 1996, he graduated from Stanford University with the highest honors
In 2000, he studied at Harvard Business School, according to the results of which he received an MBA degree with the highest honors (Baker Scholar).
..
After earning a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford, Kirill Dmitriev joined the Goldman Sachs Group in New York, one of the world’s leading investment banks. He also worked for the international consulting company McKinsey & Company, whose clients include the world’s largest corporations and non-profit organizations.
..
AWARDS AND HONORARY TITLES
In 2010, Kirill Dmitriev was included in the list of “Young Global Leaders” at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
In 2015, Dmitriev received the Certificate of Honor of the President of the Russian Federation for many years of conscientious work, labor successes, great contribution to the development of the country’s economy and active social activities. By decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Kirill Dmitriev was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky and the Order of Honor for his great contribution to the implementation of international investment projects and the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation.”
Scrolling below, there are “photos” of one of which he is at a Davos session.

Vladimir Putin’s full interview with Pavel Zarubin
(last night) (fragment)
“P. Zarubin: Mr President, we have just watched your meeting on rare earth metals. Sorry, but I think that now all journalists in the world are interested in rare earth metals, but in a slightly different aspect. After all, the United States, to put it very mildly, is urging Zelensky to sign an agreement with them on these resources to pay for aid to Ukraine by the previous Administration – the Biden Administration. How do you assess the prospects for such an agreement?
V. Putin: This does not concern us. I don’t evaluate it in any way and I don’t even want to think about it. Of course, it would be necessary to assess these resources, how real they are, how many of these resources, how much they cost, and so on. But this, I repeat, is not our business. Our business is what we have just discussed at the meeting. Rare earth metals are a very important component, very important resources for modern sectors of the economy. We are not doing much in this direction so far, we must do more. And the meaning of today’s meeting is aimed at concentrating the administrative resource for work in this area at the first stage.
By the way, we would be ready to offer cooperation to our American partners – when I say partners, I mean not only administrative and government agencies, but also companies – if they showed interest in working together.
We certainly have an order of magnitude more resources of this kind than in Ukraine. Russia is one of the undisputed leaders in terms of reserves of these rare and rare-earth metals. We also have them in the North – in Murmansk, in the Caucasus – in Kabardino-Balkaria, in the Far East, in the Irkutsk region, and in Yakutia, in Tuva. These are quite capital-intensive investments, capital-intensive projects. We would be happy to work together with any foreign partners, including American ones.
Yes, by the way, as for the new territories, it is the same: we are ready to attract foreign partners, and our so-called new historical territories, which have returned to the Russian Federation, also have certain reserves there. We are ready to work with our foreign partners, including American ones, there as well.
P. Zarubin: In the new regions too?
V. Putin: Yes, of course.”

(the blue inscription (and link to the roadmap) in the box on the left:)
“The NeuroNet roadmap was approved by Protocol No1 of 28.02.22 by absentee voting of the members of the presidium of the Government commission for economic modernization and innovative development of Russia.”
(from the text on the right:)
Neuronet
A communications market based on advanced developments in neurotechnology and increasing the performance of human-machine systems.
Description
The next technological revolution will be related to neurotechnology and the radical increase in mental productivity due to the integration of the human brain and computing machines. The rapid development of this direction will begin after the completion of the decoding (mapping) of the brain, similar to the biotechnological revolution that began after the decoding of the human genome.
NeuroWeb will be the next stage in the development of the current Internet (Web 4.0), in which interaction between participants (human-human, human-machine) will take place using new neurocomputer interfaces, in addition to traditional methods, and the computers themselves will become neuromorphic (brain-like) based on hybrid digital-analog architectures. The emergence of social neural networks and full-fledged human-machine hybrid intelligence is predicted.
The use of neurotechnology in the field of education will allow a sharp increase in the volume and speed of assimilation of new knowledge, while the development of technologies such as neurofitness and memory modulation will lead to the possibility of a multiple increase in cognitive abilities.
In the field of medicine, technologies will emerge that will allow the use of artificial limbs and additional sensory organs, which by 2035 will become the neurocontrol of everyday space accessible to the general public. At the same time, within ten years, it is expected that effective targeted biomarkers and drugs will be available for the treatment of various age-related dementias, including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. And in twenty years, it will be possible to discover gene and cellular technologies for brain correction.
In the 21st century, the world is facing global problems common to all countries:
– population ageing;
– increasing complexity of the technosphere;
– increasing the number of man-made disasters;
– increasing the information load.
The answer to this is the emergence of various solutions based on neurotechnologies, including hybrid human-machine intelligence, which will significantly expand the resources of the human brain and increase its productivity through integration with the technosphere.”

February 9, 2024, Interview with Tucker Carlson
“Tucker Carlson: So when does the AI empire start do you think?
Vladimir Putin: (Laughing.) You are asking increasingly more complicated questions.
..
There are reports that Elon Musk has already had a chip implanted in the human brain in the USA.
..
Well, I think there’s no stopping Elon Musk, he will do as he sees fit. Nevertheless, you need to find some common ground with him, search for ways to persuade him. I think he’s a smart person, I truly believe he is. So you need to reach an agreement with him because this process needs to be formalized and subjected to certain rules.”
____
As I said, it’s going well, I have high hopes.
“What colour of hazmat suit do you want me to wear” Putin asked his handlers before entering the co-n-vid ward press gathering.
Prior to that, he’d asked the same guys:
“Before the co-n-vid con, how long do you want me to foment the 2014 Maidan / Luhansk / Donetsk situation before starting the war and keeping it going for gawd only knows how long by sending 10 slow drones per night to obliterate Kiev (or Kyiv or whatever the fuk it’s called now) to have the Slavic a-holes all hate each other?”
It’s, therefore, impossible to have high hopes for anything – the 95% of Slavic a-holes is a figure repeated for people everywhere.
Awesome!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-hole
K-hole is the feeling of getting a high enough dose of ketamine to experience a state of dissociation. This intense detachment from reality is often a consequence of accidental overconsumption of ketamine; however, some users consciously seek out the k-hole as they find the powerful dissociative effects to be quite pleasurable and enlightening. Regardless of the subjective experiences of k-holing, there are many psychological and physical risks associated with such high levels of ketamine consumption.[1]
Why dont you start a blog Ed?
Ed? I’m not Ed, they’re Ed Curtin and Ed Waggaman, and maybe a few more (Norton comes to mind). I don’t have much to say for an entire blog, it’s a big field to seed. Do I annoy you?
…I had a substack for about a month, I published this for Neuronet, and about a three-year project ended in 2022 that Putin is ordering and which aims to send a report to the Club of Rome (now there is already a book in Springer, I think, as part of a project on the future of the Earth something like that)..
I had 19 subscribers (unpaid). And suddenly, I enter a substack and “you are temporarily banned from posting. contact us”, I get in touch and a very kind lady from the Substak team (or maybe it was a bot) asks me how I attracted these subscribers? Do I have a list to sell subscriber emails, or something? I say, the subscribers (19) have all signed up on their own and I have no idea what list we are talking about. And she tells me: “You are banned permanently!”. I have no idea, in general it is very free there and anyone can post almost anything (without blood and the usual restriction as everywhere)… And so on. Fak da substak. I’m not interested in blogging, I comment on articles; scrolling is for a second or two. So to speak
But this is a stupid and boring personal story, only the facts are important (like in the main comment), because without them many peoples get those nice pastoral pictures “Vlad fight the cabbal” and “Dony beats the farleft”
Applying for a job at off-guardian?!
I have slight doubts that they can offer me the position of Generalissimo on the website, depositing into my crypto wallet one million Dogecoins, or their equivalent of 1000 Trumpcoins, or a plot of land above a rare metals deposit in Murmansk, for example. But I’m looking forward to it. Until it comes to fruition, I plan to remain in the position of “annoying commentator”.
I don’t remember the last time I read a work that I liked so much on the one hand and so spoiled my taste with this drop of tar with the 16, or 18 or 23 times repeated “proxy war of the USA/NATO against Russia”. But, since I read, in the him previous essay, that Mr. Edward writes on an old typewriter, he become to me so sympathetic that I can’t be very angry with him – that’s great, Ed, such words give me hope that at least some people, or layers of people, can be saved in the soul-destroying digital age.
That is why I respect you, I even like you, Mr. Edward, I even feel you as a friend, and I do not leave my friends in need, so I will never let, however you clever and well-read, sink into the darkness of the delusion about the false proxy war. I will help you.
Regarding your doubts that real peace will be achieved (in the non-existent war). For some time I shared the same doubts, because I thought that the “war”, but not just any, but its concrete continuation under Trump, slightly heated from time to time, would be the ideal situation and an occasion for an accelerated continuation of what is its meaning – the implementation of the fourth industrial revolution – through a regime of artificial global technological race, in which each main actor – the United States (+ Israel), China, Russia, the various powerful European nations and “United Europe”, the Arabs, etc. – will accelerate the implementation of the soul-destroying digital hell in their own zones. Which will gradually progress towards more serious, so-called “hard” or “heavy” technologies, which very closely interact with and even penetrate the human body and brain.
Of course, unless there is some more serious resistance and reversal, this will certainly happen, but probably not through the fake war. At least not through this one; but we have an unclear China, we also have – now I read an opinion in Russia – a possible option for a four-year “peace” with Trump and then, 2029, again to “steal his election” or something else, in which the “more evil left deepstate” returns and “resumes the war” (which is not happening anyway, except as an incentive to accelerate the so-called great reset, designed to transform the world through 4IR, which, according to Schwab, will eventually lead to a “fusion of digital, physical, and biological identity.”)
And what can 4IR not do without?
“Izvestia”, 25 February 2025
“On the evening of February 24, Vladimir Putin convened a meeting dedicated to the development of the rare earth industry. This issue has already been on the head of state’s radar: at the forum on future technologies last week, the president stated the need to increase their production several times. The development of this industry in Russia is the most important resource base for the modern economy, since rare metals are in demand in microelectronics, energy, in the creation of infrastructure for the digital economy, and in many sectors of the civil and defense sectors, Vladimir Putin said. In essence, we are talking about almost all sectors of the new technological order, which sets the dynamics of global progress. By 2030, Russia should create a full cycle of processing rare earth metals, which is necessary for the development of the country’s economy and defense industry, as well as for successful competition in world markets.
..
In early February, Donald Trump announced that he was interested in obtaining rare earth metals from Ukraine. On February 23, Volodymyr Zelensky said that he did not want to sign an agreement with the United States, because, according to him, “10 generations of Ukrainians will pay for it,” but on February 24, he said that Ukraine planned to sign an agreement on mineral resources in Washington.
..
Washington is also interested in Russia’s “huge reserves” of such metals and its other “very valuable resources,” Donald Trump said ahead of talks at the White House with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. At the same time, he noted that the United States also has “things” that may be of interest to Russia.”
Do you see?? Trump’s deepstate, in order to build the digital Stargeit AI data centers soul destroyer for the Americans, wants Ukraine’s rare earths (aa-haa, that’s why it was a dirty proxy war…), but not only, but also those of Russia! Putin will not give (that’s why we are all crazy about him). I’m sure. He will tap his shoe on the table, like in the old days, and declare that Russia will use all its rare earth metals only to create the antithesis of the deepstate soul-destroyer, a white digital paradise, for the future of Russians. Sure.
Trump is no peacemaker his mantra is: if you can’t kill them join them..for a while to buy time to refit and rearm. He is a transactional realist.
There is real urgency even panic in WH to end this proxy war as it leads to even more catastrophic NATO defeat. US has no military leverage over Russia as NATO economic aggression has been utterly defeated as well resulting in real and present threat to dollar dominance in global trade and in strengthening not weakening of BRICS and Russian economy that grew over 4% a year with growing real income after inflation of over 8% per annum, growing trade both exports and imports even with NATO and Russian Rubel stabilized returning to its ten-year average.
IMF predicts continuing growth in 2025 with stable outlook. Trump was apparently told this truth and put on the top of his official agenda defeating BRICS and stifling global dedollarization. Dollar sanctions thus became self defeating policy. Kiev regime failed and no longer has any value and hence will be thrown under the bus if Russians insisted and they do.
On the ground realities force Trump attitudes.nHegseth NATO survey revealed that entire Western Europe can provide only pathetic 30,000 troops and only under U.S. cover, US can only muster about 60,000 to face 870,000 Russian army. The math is only one: cut and run. Moreover Trump consulting with Jeffrey Sachs and others was told Trump that for Russian it’s not a game, it is an existential struggle and they won’t relent under any circumstances. He was also told that Putin never bluffs and when he orders exercises of his tactical nukes he means to use them and for that there is broad consensus to do so among Russians. Trump was told the truth that Putin today is major most pro western politician in Russia and hence there is no one else to bet on to sell Russsia to US.
The attempted political and diplomatic isolation of Russia failed spectacularly as about 140 countries refused to impose sanctions and keep normal relations with RF which international standing only grew. Putin had more meetings with world leaders in last three years then in ten years before war.
Russian MIC and military grew materially and technologically so enormously, over ten-fold. This year Russia will advance to a status of global superpower. Trump is being forced by the above facts to sue for peace in this NATO proxy war and already effectively accepted and recognized (at least for time being) Russian sphere of influence. He seems ready to accept at least for now Russian dictate on Ukraine crisis and most Russian solutions by aligning himself with Russian narratives like: Zelensky must go, Russian intervention (not invasion or aggression) was provoked to defend her national security interests in Ukraine as well as no return to pre 2014 borders but most of all that from now on this war is no longer NATO proxy war but only between two countries; Ukraine and Russia and hence must be resolved bilaterally without NATO involvement. Hegseth stated this publicly.
There is no doubt that US didn’t give up on its defense of collapsing hegemony and MAGA is just another exponent of such objectives but realpolitik asserted itself anyway despite deep state obsession with defeating Russia, even if such would provoke nuclear war, as a prerequisite for defeat of China and BRICS.
And hence all the talks that de facto benefit much more US, compelled by events, than Russia are highly problematic as Moscow does not intend to demand anything less than they will get by completely defeating Ukrainian military and disintegration of Kiev regime.
First of all Russians approached the talks with zero trust in US and western stated intentions, declarations and agreements therefore they are not prepared nor pressed by war events to abandon any of core precepts of SMO declared by Putin three years ago. Russians won’t budge and won’t recognize rhetoric or easily reversible US concessions as warranting commitment to any consequential to military power balance in Ukraine or Europe Russian military moves or deployments. They want concrete irreversible diplomatic, political and economic moves with credibility and sustainability strongly resisting unstable U.S. electoral politics. It’s Biden 2.0 proofing.
My sources tell me that the EU have had Zelensky’s left thumb amputated.
If something unfortunate happens to him, they will regenerate him to ensure the war continues.

Cross-party MPs and peers of the Net Zero Scrutiny Group, chaired by Lord Mackinlay, have written to Miliband accusing him of “playing into Putin’s hands” for shutting down the UK’s last remaining shale gas wells.

The North Sea Transition Authority has ordered Cuadrilla to destroy the UK’s only viable shale gas wells, forcing the company to fill them with concrete and decommission the site by June 2025. Cuadrilla confirmed the process will begin next month.
Since 2019 you have posted the same things.
Your literally in a form of dementia.
A fraction of what I’ve been posting is on energy security. Of course, lots of smart and informed people have long known that this is a priority issue (hence “Drill, Baby, Drill”; Pompeo’s June 2022 Hudson Institute address; etc), and I’ve merely been reflecting their opinion. However, it seems that the rest of the world is now catching up!

The message should be simple: we must do what it takes to protect Britain. . . . We cannot put virtue signalling ahead of a realistic assessment of our national interest. That means prioritising our Energy Security.
Please keep commenting organic and discursive. This is not a place for pamphleteering, so please keep that to tasteful levels. This is why you’re on the premod list, and I’ll keep you on there for now. In future, I’ll weed out anything too off topic or a glut of such posts. It changes BTL into merely a notice board, which isn’t the intended purpose. Thank you, A2
So, OG is just like Facebook with shadowbanning censorship? No reply to my inquiry about why my comment of yesterday was eliminated when all I did was agree with Curtin? Do you not at least have enough respect to communicate with me? And since no one else will see my response here as the previous two have been deleted… are you not performing like all that this publication criticizes?
Your comment has been replied to, up the page. Sometimes these things do happen, and frankly the obligatory snide comparisons with FB don’t achieve anything. A2
There’s nothing snide about it. If you do the same thing FB does, it’s a valid criticism.
I took your comment out of spam which you know, therefore you aren’t being very honest here. On this basis I’m now popping you on our premod list. Admin will happily pop you off the list if you’re happy to stop trolling in this manner, however this is a negotiation in trust and entirely at admin’s discretion. A2

Merz: “Absolutely no illusions“ about Trump.
Goal needs to be step by step
independence from a US who “pretty much no longer cares about fate of EU”
“Unclear whether we will still speak of NATO in present shape” by time of June summit or we need to come up with EU alternative.

The concept of Energy Independence should not override the fragile world economy. Energy is as much a commodity as it is a source of power. The US, e.g., is the world’s leading oil producer – yet it imports much oil from other countries. That’s as much to keep the dollar as the world’s reserve currency as it is to insure energy needs.
I believe Trump has the ability to see the big picture, and here it is: Keeping it simple – Trump has the opportunity to be the greatest president ever…..or preside over the collapse of America…..”IT’S YOUR CHOICE, SIR!” – and it will recorded as such by future historians. All we need to do is remind him – REPEATEDLY! It’s called LEVERAGE!
If he acts as president of Israel or DaWorld….MAGA is DOA!
And then let’s throw in his comment about everyone reducing their defense budgets by 50 percent – I guarantee that got some attention in DC and many other places – but it might get him killed!
What say we see WTF he actually does, eh? What he did in his first term was a lesson in government reality!
Everything’s a financial calculation to the ruling class psychopaths.
Populations are nothing but slaves / cannon-fodder / in the way. Unhuman resources at best.
The politicians’ narcissism-money-power-narcissism loop.
And their examples are replicated throughout society. Psychocapitalism in action. Knock them down to build them up. Enter Fink.
Musk’s literally a human obscenity. He’s doing the dirtier work, leaving Trump to “appear” statesmanlike. But they are as one.
Anyone who’s still fooled by this crap is a moron.
Good article by the way, at a time when 99% of journalism is little more than PR for psychopaths in one way or another. Thank you.
Could not be a more intelligent statement…
Oh Bobby
You’re so fine
You’re so fine
You blow my mind
Hey Bobby!
Hey Bobby!
so why is there yet another article about trump????
Perhaps because we need to bounce off culturally relevant things in order to underline these kinds of points. A bit like sonar. I believe we’re all on the same side here, ultimately, and I hope we can converse in that spirit. A2
Still leaping for joy that Dan Bongino was offered a spot. He and several other pod casters have kept me sane through the lies and bullshit we had to endure under the most corrupt President ever to step foot in the White House. And his only concern was to protect his legacy of saving the world from climate change. Then he pardoned everyone holding the evidence of his corruption. Nixon’s antics were nothing compared to Biden’s. Give me a break. Biden’s entire cabinet should be jailed. Never seen the country in more of a mess in my lifetime. War protestors still living in the 60s. All of them. Like spilled bong water on a shag carpet remnant next to a bed held up by concrete blocks.
“Biden’s entire cabinet should be jailed.”
That’s a highly antisemitic thing to say.
Thanks for the laugh! Dog, as usual, ran and hid.
It’s interesting that propaganda originated in 1622 and was used by the pope to fight protestantism… A road lead to Rome.
These so-called “leaders” are reminiscent of Hollywood actors or professional wrestlers following a script, remaining in ‘kayfabe’ as though their status, or sometimes even their life, depended upon it.
These are all highly compromised individuals who must ‘sell’ the emotional narrative handed to them.
“They” are throwing everything at the world’s population in an effort to deceive & divide us.
Pull together good people, we are the 99% and we’re getting closer to a critical mass of awareness, past which their theatre becomes ineffectual.
Trump is a chump, but he is being controlled by an Evil group of psychopaths with 3000 years experience and no conscience or humanity as they are self admittedly without souls. You will get from them what you should expect, but probably don’t.
Nato could be the wests undoing.
After having been proven paranoid and wasteful,
the need to fund this organizations activities after its founding used up crucial cheap energy credits, for which today there is nothing to show for it except high interest rates for borrowed money.
They mortgaged the financial energy future, and the future is now.
NATO is useful in transporting the poppy from and to Afghanistan, and coke from Colombia and small Latin states to Europe and elsewhere.
Stoltenberg says NATO will outspent Russia to beggar status. Here is also an area NATO is useful.
By example NATO’s 70 countries Inherent Resolve Freedom Coalition showed the world how to bomb Iraq to pieces. An example of NATO’s usefulness for other small rebellious shit hole countries that NATO means business.
Fentanyl, I believe, has put Afghanistan’s opium out of business.
Covid-vaxx, Cancer vaxx. Bird flue vaxx. One way or another the amount of drug addicts continue to raise.
Everything the author writes maybe true, and is well explained.
In UK we are literally clutching at any straw that will help rid us of our perfidious government and Trump seems like an ally.
I totally agree with this.
Sir keir got you locked in the bedroom with a strap on.?
Trump is no ally to the UK. Although I understand that Sir Keir, when he visits Trump, will invite the Trumpster to lunch with King Charles if he’ll reconsider his position vis-a-vis Russia.
(Is it fair to say the UK needs to take a gander at the calendar to see what the year is?)
One more long list of all Trumps failures and Elon Musk’s low IQ 110. Revealing more about the Authors than the targets of their public smearing.
I think we have been through this during many times in history.
“They will hate you for telling the truth. Because before they were innocent, but by the true word it became known they were sinners”.
Hereafter the crowd of liberals and hypocrites demanded Barnabas released from Prison so he could walk away as a free man………………..LOL
Bar Abbas simply means ‘son of the father/the father’s son’ in Hebrew, possibly (I don’t know) in Aramaic.
‘Bereshit’ ‘in the beginning.’
Yeah, Erik, I’m pretty sure we’re on a loop de loop. I remember bits of it as they happen. Some of it I dream.
I pick it up here and there like a dove. Daveson son of Dave, Robe(rt)son son of Robe(rt), a.s.o.
The first thing is that words need to be turned into action and actual peace result. There are moves in that direction but it’s not a done deal yet. The second thing is that, if peace does break out, an eye must be kept on Ukraine. Is it being re-built as some sort of technocratic hub as seems to be the intention? And what about all the emigrants? A cute move by Trump might be grant Ukrainians in the USA US citizenship – this would expose if his opponents are pro-immigrant or really only pro-certain types?
I would give Trump some credit compared to Nixon in that he’s doing this in the teeth of opposition from his European “allies”. I don’t believe Nixon was facing that. However maybe that’s the point – the re-configuration of the world into regional blocs which Trump allies’ talk of a hemispheric power would fit in with. This leaves Western Europe…. where exactly? With a vastly increased military budget for one….
I’m increasingly convinced that Europe is going to be handed over to BRICS.
Good point. Our jobs went that way some time ago.
Trump as a ‘peacemaker’ is clearly an exaggeration. However he and his crew now perceive more profit to be extracted from Russia than the EU/GB. So they act accordingly.
In my view all the above mentioned are puppets of the usual suspects, God’s chosen psychopaths, who want/must/do control the whole world behind the curtain down to last atom and may be even beyond.

“Without those immigrants, the U.S. economy would collapse.”
Doesn’t that sound like an excuse?
We got billions for war, but somehow paying minimum wage is too expensive?
They want immigrants to crush labor movements.
NICE CATCH
They are now going into a multicultural mode and Jews will be resented because of our leading role. But without that leading role and without that transformation, Europe will not survive
As they always have. And really Biden’s policies of letting anyone in without any vetting at all simply insured that the backlash we are now seeing would happen. Not to mention the provision of housing and money to “illegals” while taxpaying citizens struggle to feed their kids. This keeps the population focused on who is “getting” what, while the true intent is about keeping all people desperate enough to shut up and just be grateful they are still employed as one can always be replaced by someone more desperate to do that job for less… (For those who think that lack of vetting is a big old bigoted right wing scare tactic, do you really think countries that the US has sanctioned and basically destroyed would hesitate for one second to send their own criminal class to the country that committed that destruction? What better way to get some retribution than emptying out the prisons and sending that population to the Great Satan? Particularly a Great Satan that continually babbles on about how democratic and humanitarian it is while it ransacks countries all over the globe in pursuit of resources and wealth?)
Of course, without a large workforce full of desperate people seeking employment, the US economy may very well collapse. But that is most likely the intent behind this whole issue. If companies lose that ability to make margin based on what amounts to another government subsidy with the provision of ever cheaper labor some of those companies might not be viable enterprises anymore. That is the threat they’ve always used, although mostly they frame it with a lot more subtlety as well as lots of “humanitarian” motives, to make sure that the practice continues. While those who have the means can tout their humanitarian bona fides and shame the rest of us who see the problem side of this as merely selfish bigots, it’s left to those who do the work to pay the price for all that virtue. Funny how that works, but it works every time.
Would you buy a used car from him?
No problem.
